so, at my church, we have this little monthly newspaper with a prayer list, people who are going to serve on the lords supper, sermon outlines, etc. the preacher also includes 1-2 articles to read as well.

a couple weeks ago, one of the articles really had an affect on me.

it went a little something like this:

"a professional basketball player playing a game is just as valuable as the disabled man who picks up trash after the game. both of these men are doing their best, to the best of their abilities. your 'best' is not someone elses best, and that's okay. all you need to worry about is doing your work to the best of your ability. we are not all going to be famous or popular, and thats fine."

and man, thats such a good mindset??? it just really resonated with me.

as a society, we push this "gotta be #1" attitude so hard and well...it's not feasible. we're not all going to be famous or rich. and whats wrong with that?

like, we all have our own sets of strengths and weaknesses. there are some things im just not good at. there are things im good at. we're all different, guys. fancysnake's "best" is not your best.

pointing our nose down at "lesser" jobs like sanitation is so awful. whats wrong with having a job? a job that this person is good at, and makes good money at? 98% of jobs arent gonna be 'pretty' or 'flashy' like athletes or actors.
comparing yourself to others is fundamentally pointless. youre not clones- you and this person have an entirely different set of genes and upbringing. youre different, and you will never be the same. learn that, its not a bad thing. excell in your own way and become comfortable with yourself.

just...do your best, not someone elses.
