...

"Aditi stop." He breathed out, trying to control his blazing rage. She bit her lip to hold back her sobs, folding the clothes on the bed and storing them in the cupboard, it was just a distraction, she didn't want to face him right now. He grabbed her wrist to stop her, the grip so tight it stung her, "Aditi look at me!"

"I don't want to listen to you! Fuck off!" She yelled out , turning her face away from him, as she grimaced in anguish.

He grasped her face, cupping it forcefully to face him. She hisses out in pain, frowning at him, "Whats wrong with you Aditi? How the hell are you acting as if this is all okay?!"

"It is okay! I've done nothing wrong! You have no right to speak to me like this..." She pointed her finger at him in accusation, her eyes burnt with tears, she hated how angry Zain could get, it scared her.

"You scared me to death- goddamnit! Do you have any idea what that feels like?! You were completely drunk... they could have done anything..." She flinches seeing the agony in his eyes, she could see he was deeply hurt and that was more painful than his anger. She hated hurting him.

"Zain listen to me... You know that it wasn't like that... I just couldn't get through to you to let you know I was going... everything is fine..." She ran her hand through his hair softly, pulling him closer with her other hand, rubbing his back soothingly.

"No! No nothing is fucking fine! I've never been so scared... Don't you know you have to be more careful?!" She winced as he slams his fist on the side table, his eyes glaring at her.

"It was just a bloody party Zain! Why are you overreacting!?" She screeched back, trying to shove him away from her. He rarely every got so angry, but he had an insane temper, his possessive grip on her waist was painful.

"Oh okay fine. I shouldn't be worried not knowing where you are in the middle of the fucking night? Completely Drunk? My girlfriend surrounded by men that were leering at her without me to protect her!?" He yelled so loud that he was spitting in to her face, she had never seen him so mad at her.

She squeezed her eyes shut in fear, shaking, "What are you suggesting Zain? Huh? That if I wear short clothes and I drink I am characterless? Am I not allowed to do whatever I want?"

"You know that's not what I'm saying! Have I ever stopped you from anything before? But it's not safe!" Aditi faltered slightly, she knew she had made a mistake, she knew she had worried him to death, "And then what do I see? You are posting pictures with some bastard that is sticking to you..."

She took a shallow breath as her eyes filled up with tears, "Kapoor is poonam's friend! I know he won't- do anything...You're letting your ego and jealously control you Zain! Why aren't you listening to me...."

"Just because that guy knows Poonam means you're a hundred percent sure he won't do anything!? I can't see the way he was looking at you? Huh? And okay. If he is fine then okay, but what about everybody else in that club?"

"Why couldn't you have used you fucking brain! You were so drunk, anybody could have done anything and you wouldn't have been able to stop them! You could have gotten raped Aditi! I wasn't there- I couldn't protect you! " She was backed up in to a wall in fear, he punched the wall beside her, an awful crunching sound echoing in the room as his knuckles cracked. Terrifying her.

She tried to grab his hand to take a look at his wound but he yanked his hand away, she looked up at him with her big brown watery, confused eyes but he had turned his face away from her, crushing her heart, her voice trembles as she yells, "We can't keep doing this Zain..."

Something about the pain in her voice makes him look at her again, "I know couples fight... I know you get possessive and jealous.... I know you have a bad temper... But it shouldn't fucking be like this! We're going to fall apart... Everything can't keep blowing out of proportion every time something small happens!"

He was too blind in his raging anger to notice the fear in her voice, it angers him more, that she can't see all his anger only comes from his love, "Something small? This is not something small... anything could have happened- You always do whatever you want, you never think about me! Did you think even once, if something had happened to you, mein kaise Retha tumhare bina!? What would I do if I lost you?"

"If you do something like this again! I will get angry again! I have a right okay!?" His gripped her stomach so tightly it hurt, she shoved him away, wiping away her tears with the back of her hand decisively.

"Stay away from me!" She pushes past him to leave the room, and his heart races in his chest.

"Aditi wait." He called out following closely behind her.

"I don't want to talk to you. Leave me alone!

Aditi opens the front door to walk out, and his heart skips a beat. It was so late at night, even in his anger, he would never let her go out alone in the middle of the night like this, god knows what could happen to her out there.

He pulls her back in to his chest, instinctively burying her in his arms. She tried to wrestle out of it but he shut his eyes in relief, relief of having his precious girl safely in his arms, "Don't you dare think of leaving this house right now"

"Why?" She questioned in pain, his heart strained seeing the tears in her eyes, "Why huh? You don't trust me? You think I'll go running of to some other man?"

"What? Aditi I never-"

"I'd rather go out there and something happen to me than hearing stupid allegations from you!"

He was furious. She could curse him to do die and he would feel nothing. But he couldn't imagine something wrong happening to Aditi, it killed him hearing her wishing something like that upon herself, he got a million times angrier, "What the fuck are you talking about!?"

"Yeah let me get raped... what does it matter?" She stated adamantly, carelessly throwing her words, crossing her arms over her chest

He fumed, his jaw tensing and fist clenching. He physically shook, his muscles straining as he tried to withhold his rage. He took a few deep breaths, no matter how angry he was he would not take it out on Adi, he would never raise his hand on her. He punched his thigh, trying to release the fury within him at even the thought of something happening to her.

"I'm going out with my friends. You stay here." He mumbled, grabbing his keys and storming past her and out the door without looking back. He needed to get out of there, before he let his anger get ahead of him. He slammed the door shut behind him.

Aditi fell to the floor as the door shut, soon enough she couldn't hear anything, he had left her alone. She hugged herself tightly, her head falling in to her lap.

She head the footsteps come back across the corridor, he locked the door from the outside before disappearing again. That comforted her slightly, he never forgot to do that and ensured her safety whenever he left at night. He didn't forget to do it in his anger either.

She curled up on the sofa, wondering where all of this had gone wrong. He had never been so angry at her before, he had never restricted her from doing anything she wanted. Whether it was partying late at night with friends other than him, or wearing more revealing clothes or drinking. She thought she had finally found someone different, that her Zain was different.

Now she was afraid she had been wrong.

....

Purvi clung to his arm as she sat in the passenger seat, and he flinched, training his eyes to be fixed on the road to ignore his discomfort. He wasn't happy like this, these friends, these parties, all of this rubbish didn't mean anything anymore. Everything was dull and empty without her.

He used to be the one who would be bored without a party to go to every night, and dance for hours. But now he would much rather be cuddling up with her on the sofa, having his cutie pie pull her adorable sleepy faces as she buried herself in his chest. She would be tracing patterns absent-mindedly with her finger on his torso as she chatted about random things, mumbling in to his shirt, throwing her leg over his waistband to pull their bodies as close as possible. And he would always listen, not just with patience but with interest, mesmerised by her angelically soft voice as he played with the loose strands of her hair to get a closer look at her smile. He was never distracted by his phone, or the tv, he was lost in her.

He turned up the fast song on the radio to drone out Purvi's mindless babbling, he didn't want to spend any more time with her on his own, it was pissing him off, "I'm going to ring Yusuf sir, it's been a long time since I've meet him."

Purvi's face fell, she wanted to grow closer to him, be with him on his own, "Aaj hi kyu? I don't know him very well... why not some other day na?"

Zain rings Yusuf sir through the hands-free in his car as if he hadn't heard her at all, she was taken aback at his indifference. He pulled over and parked at the side of the road once the call had finished, "Can you sit at the back? Sir will be coming here in a few minutes."

Her head hung in shame as she got out of the car and moved in to the back feeling insanely offended by him refusing all her advances. Yusuf sir came quickly and he let out a sigh of relief as he opened the car door to let him in.

...

She hid her face in to the pillow on his side of the bed to muffle her sobs, she hated being petty and jealous but she just couldn't stand Purvi with Zain. It made a bad feeling brew at the pit of her stomach. And the way on her story it seemed he was having the time of his life without her at the party, she felt forgotten. As if he didn't feel the same agony she was feeling after their fight.

She used her shaky hand to scroll through her gallery, she looked through the hundreds of photos she had taken of him and of them and it made the pit of her stomach deeper, the void more wallowing and empty.

They were adorable, there was the picture of him pouting in to the camera when he was throwing a tantrum about her not paying him enough attention. Then there was a picture his brother had taken when she was holding little saifi and giggling, as Zain watched from a slight distance with a huge watery-eyed proud grin. And finally there was a small snippet of a clip he had taken of them both together on the bed, and him tickling her, leaving her in hysterics.

She hoped they hadn't been a beautiful lie, she didn't feel like enough for him, enough to change him.

She wiped away her remaining tears and opened the door, locking it behind her before leaving.

Hoping that somehow the fresh air could clear her mind, and distract her.

...

They were at worli sea link now, and he had already posted a story saying how peaceful it was but that couldn't convince his heart. This was her favourite place, countless days they had come here secretly at night, and he would admire her dipping her toes cutely in the water. Or he would feed her chocolate swirl ice cream, her all-time favourite.

The tears and the pain in her eyes come back to him in flashes, the way she flinched at his touch. They had never fought like that before, he must have scared her so much, reminded her of her ex... made her hate him.

His heart pounded in his chest in worry, he had been so reckless, so fucking stupid. He rubbed his hand over his face to hold back tears and rang abhi,

"Abhi... Abhi..." His words came in short gasps of dread.

"Kya hai yaar?"

"Could you go to my apartment and check on Adi? Please?"

"Of course bhai... is something wrong? You can't get there?"

"She wouldn't- wouldn't want to see me..." Zain choked back a cry, running his hand through his hair in frustration, "I made a big mistake Abhi- a huge mistake..."

"Okay... okay... it's going to be fine-"

"Adi-" His voice cracked and Abhi realised how frightened he really was.

"She'll be fine too... okay? She'll be fine I promise..."

....

He was already back in the car on the way home when he got a call back from Abhi,

"Zain she's not here."

His heart froze, ceased beating for a second as it felt like his world was collapsing around him. The blood drummed in his ears and he rubbed the back of his neck, "What the fuck do you mean?"

"The apartment is empty Zain. She's left her phone here too."

"Shit." He was hysterical now, tears running down his face as his eyes clenched shut in heartache.

He slammed the steering wheel with his fist in distressed defeat, "Abhi it's happened, I let it happen... I've lost her- "

"Zain come on-"

"No Abhi- someone- someone's taken her away from me... some bastard is going to hurt her- i have to- I should have been there... I didn't protect her..."

"Zain calm down... I'm guessing you guys fought? She's probably mad and has gone out... that's it... you don't need to get so scared, I promise..." Abhilash tried to calm him down, keeping his voice slow and steady.

"No Abhi... I shouldn't have left her alone, what if something- what if I'm too late and someone-"

"Hey Zain listen to me... " Abhi spoke more forcefully now, his brows knitted in confusion seeing Zain's affliction, "what's making you jump to these crazy conclusions?"

Abhi's heart breaks when Zain tells him where all these worries were stemming from, he shook his head, getting in to his car, "Nothing has happened to her Zain, we'll find her, okay? Stay on call, stay with me... tell me where do you think she'll go when she's upset? You go there... I'll keep driving around looking her "

Zain racked his brain, her first point was always worli sea link but she hadn't been there. He then thought of the small park a few minutes away from her apartment complex where she would bring him sometimes to meet the little kids from her neighbourhood that would play there.

....

There she was, he could see silhouette of her curled up on the bench in the park.

And he could finally breathe again.

He sprinted to her as fast as his feet could could carry him.

"Oh god Adi..." He gasped as he sat beside her. Before she could even look at him properly he scooped her in to his lap, hugging her so tightly she could barely breathe.

He buried his face in her neck, sobbing in relief, "Fucking hell... you scared me to death you crazy woman..."

He pulled away to examine her in a frenzy, his hand ran down her body and gently caressed her belly and her thigh, the points he knew were the most sensitive on her body, he looked up at her and she could see horror in his eyes, "Tum teek ho na?"

"Abh pooch raha hu?" Her voice was blunt and emotionless as she pulled away from him and sat facing the other side, crossing her arms over her chest and scowling. She looked adorable, even with her puffy red eyes, her pink nose and her smudged up kohl.

He sighed sadly, smiling at his beauty gently. He cupped her face and turned her towards him slowly, tears rolled down his cheeks seeing how badly she had been crying. His lips trembled as he wiped away her tears with his thumb softly, with faint murmur from his trembling lips, "aww baby ... I'm so sorry..."

"You don't love me anymore..." She whimpered like a child, pouting adorably, breaking his heart.

"No baby... how could you think that..." He brushed her hair out of her face where it had stuck to her cheeks with tears, his heart wrenching.

She pushed him away and her head fell in to her hands as she weeped loudly, his soul is torn from his chest in pain, seeing her look like she had completely given up, "you're just like him... all men are exactly like him..."

"Hey baby... No... shhh... shhh..." He covered her ears with his hands and buried her in to his chest as if sheltering her protectively, "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..."

She looked up at him with broken eyes, she questioned , "How can I trust you? you won't hurt me will you? Raise your hand-"

"Oh god no... oh adi..." He mumbled between his tears, rubbing her back, "I've scared you so bad baby... I'm so sorry.."

She melts in his comforting touch, and falls in to his open arms. She snuggles in to him as he cuddles her safely, "You're just going to get mad again and then this will all-"

"No." His voice was decisive as he caressed her cheek, kissing her forehead, "I never ever want to see you cry like this ever again... I'm never letting you get hurt. I'm not him. You understand that? I don't want you crying ever again..."

"I thought you won't come back... I thought you got tired of me... mein darr gaya Zain..." She cries in to his neck, clutching his shirt in to her fists.

"shh... shh... I'm here... I'm here with you.... I'm not going anywhere... I promise..." He cradles her gently, he rocks her back and forth, the guilt was killing him.

"I'm never going to be enough for you Zain..." She sniffed back her tears, rubbing at her cheeks harshly with her sleeve.

"What are you talking about?' He asked in surprise, holding her hands in his tightly as if afraid she would escape from his grasp.

"I'm not Purvi, Zain. Okay?" Her eyes were so hurt that he shattered seeing how insecure he had made her, " I don't party, or dance, or wear those kind of clothes... I'm not affectionate in public, I probably can't satisfy you... I'm nothing like your lifestyle... and I'm trying... I'm trying but I don't think I can ever be... be what you want ..."

"No Adi... you are what I want. There is no woman on earth that i could want more than you-" She shook her head but he shut her up, taking her lips in to a searing kiss, his hands grabbed at her body desperately as if he was panicking that he was losing her.

"Listen to me." He lifts her face to meet his eyes, and she takes a deep breath seeing how dark his eyes looked, dark with so much emotion. Devotion, desire, self-loathing and guilt, "I was fucking stupid. I should have never walked out of there leaving you alone like that. I should have never yelled. But don't you dare even for a minute think that was because I don't love you."

"I love you so fucking much Adi... I love you more than I've ever loved anyone. I love you so much I don't know how to handle it-" His eyes were so frightened, flooding with innocent tears. He held her so delicately like he was terrified he would hurt her again, her heart ached seeing him like this, "I know I'm short tempered, irrational, possessive... but I love you and I just want to show you that... I just want to protect you... just take care of you... I know you deserve better but I-"

"But I keep fucking up... I'm so sorry Adi..." His voice cracked, as he faced away from her in embarrassment. He sat up, moving away from her in shame.

Her heart wallowed in sadness, he was hurting so bad and she didn't see in all her insecurities. Her insecurities were hurting him like this.

"Jaanu..." She cooed to him in her sweetest voice, she hugged his arm, resting the side of her head on his shoulder.

"Jaanu... suno na..." She called out again when he didn't respond, rubbing small circles on his back.

He immediately relaxed, his muscles untensing under her touch.

"you know what..." She whispers, planting a kiss on his cheek, "I have the best boyfriend in the world..."

He smiled slightly at her antics, muttering as he frowned miserably like a baby, "don't lie to make me feel better..."

"Arrey! The Zain Imam is my boyfriend... the most dashing, charming, handsome and hot... aur kya chaiye life mein yaar..." She teased cutely, pressing naughty kisses across his jawline, making it difficult for him to stay upset.

"What's the point when he's so hopeless..." He laughed sarcastically, rubbing his face with both his hands in exhaustion. She sighed seeing his forlorn expression.

Her heart ached and tears came in to her eyes, she has no idea why she was so emotional. She clambered on to his lap like a child.

She sat on his thighs, her legs weaving between his. She threw her arms around his neck and snuggled close to him fearfully, surprising him.

"Really Zain, I'm not lying... I promise... don't be upset please..." She lisped tearfully, his heart broke, she was so clear hearted and uncorrupt, "Whenever I'm sad you're the only one I want Zain... I know I'm safest when I'm with you... I know you're nothing like him, I know you won't let anything happen to me..."

"You know..." She holds his hands in hers, stroking the back of his hand with her thumb while grinning up at him innocently, "When you told me off like that you reminded me of my papa..."

"Eh?" Zain asked, pulling an adorable offended face, it was one thing being friend-zoned, worse being considered a brother but it has to be the worst to remind your girl of her father.

She giggled, running her hand through his hair and sweetly pressing a wet kiss right under his ear. "not like that idiot.."

"It's just... that's the first time someone has yelled at me for my wellbeing and whereabouts like that since my father passed away... I remember one time... as a teenager I had snuck out for a party late at night wearing the tiniest little dress and my dad had turned frantic..."

She laughed fondly but her eyes flooded with tears as she missed her father, he understood this wordlessly, holding her closer. She relaxed in to him, leaning her head in the small cranny between his arm and his shoulder, she took his other arm and lead to wrap around her middle so she could lie on him more comfortably, curling up in to a ball against him, " And you getting angry with me reminded me of the way he used to protect me... and I realised I have someone who will look after me just like he used to. Love me as much as he used to. Even more than he used to. He would have been proud that I found someone like you Zain..."

He smiled at her softly, that meant the world to him. The trust and pride she had in him was something he vowed nit to break. He would always always protect that blissful innocence in her eyes, he would never let anyone hurt her, or ruin her beautiful outlook on life. He secretly promised this to her father, placing his hand on his heart solemnly.

He pecked her lips tenderly seeing her sad, "Not would have been... he is... He's still watching over you Adi... from up there na?"

She nodded but stayed upset refusing to show him her face so he didn't see her crying, he sighed seeing this.

He looked skyward, holding her hand, he placed it on his heart, making her look. ar him in confusion, "Papa... thank you for your beautiful daughter, I promise I will always look after her just the way you would have wanted. And I promise..."

"I will never yell at your precious daughter ever again..." he cups her face and knocks her forehead with his, finally making a smile to break out on to her face that lit up her face and warmed his heart.

"And I want your permission papa, to make your beloved daughter my ravishing bride very soon..." He grinned cheekily making her gasp when he tugged her bottom lip with his teeth, dragging her in to a blazing hot kiss.

She tries to pull away but he grips to her tighter, causing her to give in to his magical touch. She straddles his lap clutching his collar with one hand and ruffling his hair between her fingers with the other.

She separates when she's out of breath, her eyes filled with happy tears before resting her forehead on his shoulder.

She smiles with naive cuteness, like an excited child, shyly reverting the first statement she had made when he found her, "you do love me!"

He chuckled at her antics, kissing her hair, "Yes babu... I love you..."

She blushed pink, and rubbed her nose on his shoulder, wiping her runny nose on his t-shirt like a innocent kid making him beam at her again, "Even when I'm stroppy and emotional?"

"Especially when you're stroppy and emotional..." He kisses her eyelids making her eyes shut, her breathing slowing in tiredness making him realise she was sleepy.

He lifted her in to his arms, carrying her bridal style in to his car. He strapped her in to her seatbelt carefully, and then got in to the other side of the car.He glanced over at her and smiles weakly in relief, seeing her safely in front of his eyes.

Her breathing turned to soft snoring making him smile wider, he pulled back the lever near her chair to recline it, so she could lie more cosily. He takes off his jacket and covers her with it when he spots her shivering slightly, she smiles a little as if she could sense him in her sleep.

She clutched to his arm while half-asleep, snuggling in to his hand, nuzzling her nose in to his palm, mumbling drowsily, "I love you too..."

He shakes his head at her naivety, kissing her head with an affectionate grin before pulling away gently.

...

He was cooking her lunch, making her favourite paneer, when he hears her sprint through the doorway. He turns away from the stove to see her coming toward him with tear filled eyes. He panics, turning off the gas.

She runs in to his chest and he holds her protectively, bundling her in to his arms. He pats her hair softly to calm her jittery breathing, "shhh Adi... shhh... kya hua? Kisi ne kuch kaha?"

She clasps him tightly, her arms roped around her waistband clutching fistfuls of his shirt on his back as she cried harder. He frowned in pain, the sounds of her cries torturing him.

He traced comforting patters on her lower back where he knew relaxed her and buried his lips in her hair, shushing against her scalp until her crying eased, "Hey... no more crying... come here... you've got me now..."

"Adi?" He questioned her in concern, cupping her face and kissing away her tears, "Kya hua baby? Don't hide it from me..."

She threw her arms around his neck and hugged him tighter, almost as if she thought he was the one that needed the comfort. She caresses his hair, squeezing her eyes shut, "I had no idea Zain... I'm so sorry..."

"Adi- What-"

"I should never have left the house and went to that party without telling you... I should never have scared you like that yesterday- Abhi told me..."

Zain sighed, his head falling in to the nook of her neck in exhaustion, "I didn't want to tell you..."

The truth was, yesterday, when he was coming back from from the gym in the night a man had stopped him in the street. He was some crazed fan of Aditi, Zain didn't take it seriously at first since he had seen this kind of thing on her social media all the time. But then he started threatening to find her, hurt her, rape her.

He seemed to know everything about their relationship which they had hidden from the public, he knew other details about her that he shouldn't have known.

Then there were the pictures of her, the man had been stalking her, there were pictures of her that had been taken secretly. Zain's heart stopped. These man's threats terrified him, this man could have been capable of his threats. Zain almost killed him right then and there, but his first thought was to come home to Aditi and never leave her side.

And then when he came home, he couldn't find her anywhere, and he was completely hysterical. Which was the only reason why he was so angry and lashed out at her in fear.

"Why didn't you tell me jaanu?" She coerced him, stroking his arm, and kissing his shoulder and lingering with her lips resting there waiting for him say something.

"Because I don't want you to have to live with the fear of that man... it shouldn't restrict you from doing anything you want."

They swayed in each other's arms as Aditi rubbed the back of his neck to try and soothe the rage that had tensed up his body, "I'm here to deal with that bastard, I'll take care of him. When I'm here, my girl can wear what ever she wants and do whatever she wants and nobody will dare make her feel uncomfortable."

He caressed her cheek, making her look clearly in to his stern eyes, "Adi I'm here okay-"

"I know- you won't let anything happen to me." She smiled proudly, kissing away his frown.

"And that man-"

"He won't be able to anything, he'll have to go through my boyfriend first. And my Zain would kill anyone who tries to lay their hands on me."

He nods with a grimace and strict eyes, and she tries to surpress her laughter at his overprotectiveness, "Yes, i will. If you ever see anyone taking pictures or behaving weirdly you tell me immediately. If you are ever going out without me, you call me. You text me when you reach there, and how and when you are getting back, if not I will come pick you up. Okay?"

"Yes okay... okay my knight in shining armour..." She teased, her fingers sliding in to his hair as she kissed him, smiling against his lips.

"Now... I have my Zain, who has made sure that I won't worry about this man... but what about you huh?" She caressed and massaged the creases of concern on his forehead with her thumb, making them disappear.

"I don't my Zain to be 24/7 worrying about this man either..."

"But-"

She pecked his forehead where he was frowning, her thumb wiping his cheek knowing his eyes were filled with tears even though he wouldn't shed them.

"You don't have to be worried about not being able to protect me, I'm right here, I'm with you, nothing is going to happen to me. We will face this guy together. I'm not scared of anything when you are with me, okay?"

He nodded obediently like a small child, making her grin at his cuteness, She whispered in to his ear slowly, biting her lip, "Good boy"

He grabbed her by the waist, pressing her curves up against him, he kisses her roughly as his hands wander under her shirt, caressing all the right places. His lips trail down her neck, sucking that sweet point on her collarbone that he knows makes her arch in to him with that little moan of his name that drives him mad.

It's safe to say that for a while both of them forgot about that crazed fan of hers.
