Brianna's POV

Lakyn and I went to the theater to warm up. I warmed up my voice, and Lakyn did her guitar checks. We practiced until 6:50. Then, we got shooed backstage since doors opened at 7:00 for an 8:00 show.
"Are you nervous?" Lakyn asked me.
"A little," I replied. Actually, I felt like butterflies were flapping their wings frantically in my stomach. It was a scary thought that I would be performing in front of the entire student body, but it was even more nerve-wracking knowing that I would be performing in front of Luke. I was, however, anxious to see what he thought. When it was 7:30, I went to go get changed into the dress that I'd brought. WhenI came out of the dressing room, Lakyn looked at me and said, "I still think that's gorgeous, really." It was a shimmering light blue, which looked like it had sparkles on it, but it really didn't.
Lakyn claimed that it brought out the color of my eyes, which were a light aqua. Just then, Mrs. McDowell, who is in charge of the show, walked over towards us.
"Hello, girls. Do you know Anna?"
Unfortunately, both Lakyn and I did.
"Yes, we do," I said cautiously. "Why?"
"She's getting nervous, and she asked me if she could switch with you, since she doesn't think that she can last until the end of the show," Mrs. McDowell said. Lakyn and I exchanged glances. I knew what Lakyn was thinking. Her gaze obviously said, No, we shouldn't. It's not like she'd do it for us. See, the whole point of Lakyn's look, well, Anna was known as Middleton High's resident 'mean girl'. Anna was the type of girl that every school has. There was also the fact that teachers thought that she was perfect, although the minute they turned their backs, she would basically act rude, stuck-up, and snobby. She was the type of girl that would bite your head off if you refused her something. I wasn't afraid of her, but my dad had always stressed the Golden Rule to me. You know, treat others how you want to be treated? I sighed, knowing that I'd regret what I was about to do. I said to Mrs. McDowell, "We'll switch. I could use some more time to practice anyhow."
"Why, thank you, Brianna," Mrs, McDowell said. "You are such a nice girl."
Yeah, I thought to myself. At my own expense. I shrugged, and she walked away, presumably back to Anna. Lakyn glanced at me and muttered, "Are you crazy? She'll think she can walk all over us now."
"Not necessarily. Besides, my dad always says that we should follow the Golden Rule. That has to count for something," I replied, knowing even as I said it that was a futile hope. All Lakyn did was shrug. When the show finally started, and Anna finished her act, we heard applause coming from the auditorium. It didn't t count for much, though, because everyone on campus knew at if they didn't give her credit, they would 'get it' from her later. Eventually, it was our turn to perform; and almost the end if the show. When we walked out, the theater was silent. I walked up to the microphone that was standing center stage. Lakyn sat on a chair slightly hostage right of me. I turned to Lakyn and mouthed 'One, two, three, four,' and she played the intro. I counted silently in my head, and began singing, getting lost in the music. When I finished singing, and Lakyn played her last chord, there was dead silence for a second before the theater was filled with thunderous applause; even more than Anna got. I spotted Luke sitting in the front row, smiling band clapping. I couldn't wait until I of changed, and got to speak to him. As Lakyn and I were exiting, Lakyn leaned over and murmured to me, "You did wonderful. I bet Luke thought the same."
"Thanks! You did awesome too," I replied. She gave me a smile, and then we were off.
A/N: I understand that many of you don't like Frozen. However, I thought Elsa's dress was the best example for Brianna's talent show dress.
