Luke's POV

As Anna came onstage, I felt a sudden wave of cold wash over me. It felt evil, like, well, like a monster. I tried to ignore it, but it still stuck in my mind. After she finished her performance, everyone clapped for her, even though it had been horrible. Finally near the end of the show, Brianna and Lakyn came on, when Brianna began singing, it reminded me of crystal clear water, or the sun on a warm summer day. Her singing completely erased any feeling that might've made me feel unsettled when Anna came onstage. Lakyn's playing was flawless. Lee would've been proud. I headed to the backstage doors after the show ended, and waited for the two girls. They came out together, and Brianna looked slightly unsettled, but quickly shook it off when she saw me.
"You were awesome," I exclaimed.
"Thanks," Brianna said.
"You know," Lakyn said, "I'd love to stand here and talk, but it might be better if we returned to the dorm and talked. It's getting a little crowded here." Both Brianna and I agreed with her, so we headed back to their room. I pulled Lakyn aside as Brianna entered the room.
"Yeah?" she said.
"At the show, did anything seem weird or abnormal to you especially around Anna?" I asked tentatively.
"What do you mean? Like, demigod/monster weird?" Lakyn replied.
"Maybe. I think so," I said.
"Yes, I did. Was it like, a personification of evil?" Lakyn asked.
"Yes, it was," I replied.
"What was is?" she asked me nervously.
"I don't know. It probably has something to do with Anna," I said almost hesitantly.
"You think that she's a monster?" she said to me, sounding scared. I mean daughters of Aphrodite aren't cut out for head-on confrontations. Lakyn did, however, know some basics with her dagr, like her stepsister and head counselor, Silena Beauregard, does.
"Could be," I said. "It also isn't good because, well, if Brianna felt it..." I let my voice trail off, because Lakyn knew exactly what I was talking about.
"She could start to recognize herself, which would be disastrous," Lakyn finished.
"Exactly," I said. "Well, we did go over what the backup plan is."
"Yes, but still..." Lakyn said, her voice trailing off. "With only a few more months of school left, maybe Anna won't chance it, especially with us here."
"Maybe," I said, shaking my head. "That would be looking on the bright side of things."
"Can you not be so pessimistic?" Lakyn asked. I shrugged. She sighed and said, "Look, I'd better get back inside. We don't want Brianna asking me questions."
"Yeah," I said, agreeing with her. "I'm going to head back to my room. Tell Brianna that I said 'night."
"'Kay," Lakyn replied, smiling before heading inside.
