-Steve POV-

Bucky was now here, standing in our kitchen making everyone a cup of coffee. Bruce didn't show up alone. Apparently, half of the team was at headquarters when I called Bruce. So they all came over. Natasha sat next to me on the couch with Clint on her left. Pepper sat in the reclining chair with Tony leaning against the wall. Bruce was still with Alice.

It's been two hours.

Bucky had to drag me out of the room when Bruce first arrived. I couldn't leave Alice alone, I put up a really hard fight in order to stay with her.

It's true, we've been through a lot over the years, but nothing beats this. Her heart has stopped twice. once when I rescued her from her brother and again when she was poisoned. I've never been so crushed in my life when that happened. But what bothers me about this, is that I'm the reason she's in so much pain.

If it wasn't for me having the serum, she wouldn't be in this much pain. The baby has the serum, which causes the bizarre growth patterns. And from there, it hurts Alice. Maybe even kills her. Maybe she's not telling me something. She doesn't want me to know, or something.

From out of the silence, Natasha speaks, "She'll be okay, Steve. She's pulled through worse before. She can pull through this."

"I can't see past the fact that this is all my fault." I shake my head.

"Steve, this isn't your fault." Clint speaks up.

"Give me one solid reason as to why this isn't my fault." I snap, and stand from the couch, beginning to pace back and forth in what small space I have. "See, you can't." I run my hands through my hair. Bucky brings four cups of coffee into the room. How he carries it all, I don't know. he hands them out to Pepper, Tony, Clint, and Natasha.

"Cap, come on. Alice is fine." Pepper begins.

An ear piercing shriek fills the air. And it's coming straight from the bedroom where Alice is. I tense and begin to storm towards the door. I have to see her. I have to comfort her.

Bucky blocks my path before I can get my hand on the doorknob. He does his best to restrain me but I was obviously winning this war, "Steve, Steve. You have to let Bruce help her. Relax and take a deep breath, pal. He'll be done soon." Bucky's words make me tense even more. Clint suddenly appears out of nowhere and tries to pull me away from the door.

I shove them both away and storm back into the living room. I sit down on the couch, hunching over and hiding my face. If I'm going to start crying, I don't need them to see it.

"I can't lose them." My voice shakes ever so slightly.

"You won't." Pepper assures me.

"You can't lose hope, Cap." Clint speaks.

"I had hope, but it's slowly fading away."

Suddenly the bedroom door comes swinging open. Bruce steps out, an exhausted look on his face. I jump to my feet and rush over to him, "How is she?" I ask.

"The worst is over. I gave her some pain medicines. She's awake. She's resting now. I suspect she'll fall asleep in a few minutes."

"And the baby?" I question.

"Very healthy. My estimation is that she's four months along now." I shake his hand and thank him for once again coming to the rescue. "She wants to talk to you, Cap. She says it's important."

A/N: Since I had no school today, I thought I would celebrate with the posting of a new chapter! The next chapter will be emotional. Just so you know. Oh and just for fun, here's my song of the day: Edith's Theme from Crimson Peak movie soundtrack. I posted the video link above :)
