The darkness had come over the camp not long after the greenie showed up.

Alby had just returned to the camp with him. The boy remembered his name while he was out with Alby.

His name was Ben. Alby was talking to me as the fire started. "Greenie is interested in being a runner."

I was a little surprised but not much. "I think we should let him. His first instinct was to run today. After he got out of the box."

"Alright. I trust your judgement. I'll have minho take him out tomorrow." He dismissed himself before walking off.

I sat there and stared into the flames.  I thought about what it was like before the maze. But I couldn't.

I wanted to remember so much. But I just couldn't. My thoughts were interupted by newt sitting next to me.

"Alright what's going on with you." He asked as he handed me a drink. "Nothing."

He gave me a 'really' look. He knew something was up. "You've been distant the past couple days."

I nervously rubbed my hands together. "What happened to your leg?" I ask hesitantly.

This took him off gaurd. I don't think he expected this question so soon. "Come on. Let's go for a walk."

He grabbed my hand and helped me up. But this time, he didn't let go. He took me away from everyone else as we sat down staring at the wall.

We sat in silence for a moment as I grabbed his hand with both of mine and started drawing shapes while he began speaking.

"I was a runner before." This caused me to stop as he frowned at me. I gulped slowly as I started listening closer.

"We had been in the maze for a couple months. And it felt as though we would never get out."

"No matter how much we ran the maze we couldn't find a way out. But then one day, we finished mapping it." Looked at him confused.

"Yes, the entire thing is mapped. Anyways, after we figured that out I lost hope."

I was hoping and praying this wasn't going where I thought it was going. "So, one morning..."

"I ran into the maze earlier then anyone else. I climbed the tallest wall I could. And... I jumped off it."

Tears were brimming my eyes as I interlocked our fingers tightly. He looked back at the wall.

"But, on the way down I got caught in a vine. Twisted my leg up. Later on minho found me."

"After he realized what had happened, he helped me down and took me back to the Glade." He took a deep breath.

"We never told anyone what happened that night." He turned to me and sighed.

"That's why we haven't told anyone we finished mapping the maze. We didn't want them to lose hope." He mumbled.

I rested my head on his shoulders as a tear fell down my face. I was quick to whip it away. "Ok."

I genlty said. "Ok?" He asked unsure. "Ok. But just because we have finished mapping it doesn't mean we shouldn't still trying."

I lifted my head as he looked at me smiling. "Your so much light, that it seems to block out the darkness."

I giggled lightly. Newts eyes widened. "Never heard that before." He teased.

I nudged him slightly. "And you don't tell anyone about it." I pointed at him teasingly.

"Hmmm. Maybe." He gave me a mischievous look as he started tickling me.

I laid in my back as it sent me into a fit of laughter. "Newt! Stop it. It tickles." I laughed loudly as my side started hurting.

"Fine. I'll make you a deal." He sat on top of me but was careful not to put weight on me.

"I'll let you go, and I get a kiss." He smiled cheekily. "Ok deal."

I laughed lightly as I kissed his cheek stunning him and I took this opportunity to push him off.

I sprinted towards the fire getting some looks as I hid behind minho. "Save me." I chuckled.

"From what?" He asked. "Taylor." Newt said running over and picking me up over his shoulder.

"That!" I cried out laughing. Newt held me over the shoulder. I could hear Alby talking to Ben.

"Are they a thing?" Ben asked. "Your guess is as good as mine." Alby responded.

A few people laughed and told newt to throw me In the water. "Newt I swear to God you throw me in the bloody water I will never forgive you."

I warned. "Newty, can you please put me down?" I asked nicely. "Newty? Where did that come from?"

He asked as I rolled my eyes and he put me down. I narrowed my eyes at him dangerously.

Everyone was watching the scene go down. "Newt I recommend you run." Gally warned smiling.

"She wouldn't hurt him. Cause she lo-" minho stopped talking noticing my look.

He almost just told the whole Glade I liked newt. Oh he was dead. "Oh your screwed dude."

Gally smirked. Minho took the opportunity to run as I chased after him. "Minho you get your butt back here!"

I finally gave up as he started walking back to me. "I swear Taylor I completely forgot."

I stared at him annoyed. "I haven't even told him yet minho!" I groaned.

"You still haven't told him?" I looked to see Gally and Alby. "No."

"Wait how does Alby know?" I asked as minho gave me a nervous look. "I might have let it slip."

"So all 3 of you know?" I asked and they all nodded. "Can you all please not say anything?"

They looked among each other and agreed. "Good. I'll probably tell him next fire."

They all shook their heads at me. "Your seriously gonna wait another month?"

"Yep." I decided to head to bed as I made my way towards my shack. I took off my boots before tiredly laying down.

Falling asleep quickly from the exhausting day.
