Snowpaw had visited Sootkit a couple of times after his 'incident.' But she was slowing down the time between visits. Sootkit had become confined to the nursery and was only allowed out with a escort and only for a short amount of time. He hated having to be stuck in a stuffy den while the other kits got to go out and have fun. It wasn't fair. And he knew that Greeneyes was the one who said it was good for him to stay alone. Sootkit thought that was his idea of keep in him quiet. But it wasn't going to work. He would find a way out of this problem one way or another. But for now, he would have to follow the rules.

Two moons had passed since Greeneyes dropped the quarantine on Sootkit. He and his litter mates were now five moons old, nearly six. Willowkit had gotten acquainted quite nicely with Pebblepaw. Him and his sister had become apprentices a few sunrises ago, and it seemed as though every she-cat available was throwing themselves over Pebblepaw, including Sootkit's only sister. Personally, he thought that Pebblepaw was a bit of a stick up. His sister Mousepaw was much nicer to every cat. She was caring and nice to every cat she met, and saw the good side to everyone, including her brother.

But recently the two of them had become very quiet. And Sootkit couldn't blame them. After their mother died of greencough, the whole clan was mourning. Sootkit, Flashkit and Willowkit weren't alone in the nursery though, Featherfoot had moved to the nursery expecting Darkear's kits. The gray she-cat wasnt very keen on looking after some cats kits, but she managed to keep the new clan cats out of trouble.

They weren't the only cats to have changed either, Flashkit was acting strange. He seemed to be missing quite a bit too, every couple of sunrises, he would sneak out of his nest and out of camp. Every cat knew that kits weren't allowed out of camp. And when Sootkit confronted Flashkit about it, he got really nervous and avoided the question. Something was really off about him, and Sootkit was determined to find out what it was.

Sootkit hadn't seen Greeneyes in any more dreams, but Oatwhisker knew about Sootkit's visits to the stars. The medicine cat apprentice was certain that StarClan was trying to say he should be a medicine cat, but the black kitten disagreed. He was going to be a warrior!
