Horrified gasps shook the clearing. Pelts of the ThunderClan cats bristled and tails bushed. Eyes were wide with confusion and horror.

Fernbreeze burst into camp moments later, her pelt matted. "It's true," she huffed, sadness shook his voice.

"What do you mean he's missing ?" Rabbitstar mewed from the Highrock.

"I overheard Losttail and Graynose," Vinestripe explained, his expression darkening. "They said they haven't seen Berryseed all day."

"So Vinestripe and I went to look for him," Fernbreeze went on. "We couldn't find him anywhere!" Her eyes raked the clearing. "He was nowhere in our territory!"

Rabbitstar's tail was now lashing. The rest of the Clan looked just like their leader. Fearful, appauled, worried. A crescendo of frantic yowling erupted from the Clan.

"We have to find him!"

"What if  twolegs took him?"

"What if he got attacked?"

"Cats of ThunderClan!" Rabbitstar's mew rang over the camp. "Rogueshadow, Nighthowl, Birchfur, You three go check near the WindClan border. I'll check near Snakerocks. Ferretclaw, Ratfang, you two can look over by the river and the RiverClan border. Hareleap, Tigergrowl, and Badgerclaw, you three go check by the old barn by WindClan. Mossshade, Spidersilk, and Ashleap, you three check by the ShadowClan border and be careful checking the Thunderpath. Whiteleg and Graynose, you two check by the twolegplace and be careful. Losttail, stick close to the WindClan groups. Brightring and everyone else stay at camp in case Berryseed shows up. Is that fine with all of you?"

All the groups nodded and dashed off towards their  locations. Losttail slipped into the brush and followed the WindClan groups, scenting for Berryseed the entire way.

She had still found no sign nor scent of the medicine cat when she reached the WindClan border. She could see Rogueshadow's group go in one direction And Hareleap's group heading towards the old barn. "Berryseed!" She yowled, but there was never any reply.

Oh Berryseed, where have you gone?

She went over the area several times, even looking up all the nearest trees.

"Berryseed!" She gave one more desperate cry. "Where are you?!"

Nothing but the sound of the wind blowing through the dying leaves that still clung to the treetops. Losttail thought to herself. Where would Berryseed have gone? Then it came to her. Could he have to the Moonstone?

She might as well check it out. Following the border, she took the path she and Berryseed took to go to the medicine cat meeting. Thin clouds were blocking out the sun, and the heavy breeze was worse out here in the open. Losttail searched all around the path, but found nothing but her own scent when she recrossed her tracks. She still had a ways to go until she would be at the Moonstone.

Suddenly, a fowl stench filled her nose. Then, she  heard a distant barking. Rapidly it grew closer. The sound grew louder still, until it seemed to fill all the forest.

Then before, Losttail could react, it was there. Barely, two fox-lengths away from her was the dog.
