Junko: What's more dangerous and badass than a man turned into a machine? I mean, ask Kokone! She knows what I'm talking about!

Kokonoe: Right, while I do have Iron Tager, these two men have proven to be much more dangerous in their own ways.

Ann: General Grievous, the Jedi-Killing warrior of Star Wars.

Junko: And Adam Smasher, the unstoppable mercenary of Cyberpunk 2077!

Kokonoe: The stage is set and the combatants are ready.

Junko: It's time for a Death Battle!

It was the middle of the night. Yorinobu Arasaka was looking down on Night City from the top floor of Arasaka Tower. His elevator door opened as General Grievous walked in along with two IG-100 MagnaGuards by his side.

Grievous: Why hello, Mr.Arasaka, I do hope I'm not interrupting something.

Yorinobu: Hm? What is the meaning of this?

Grievous: Night City... no... this whole world will soon be under the rule of the Galactic Empire. Starting with your blood.

He signaled the MagnaGuard's to attack. The two droids went for their strikes, but Adam Smasher got in the way and blocked them, before firing his gun and ripping them apart. He then turned to Grievous, scanning his cybernetic body.

Smasher: Who the fuck are you?

The general chuckles and gets in Smasher's face, already analyzing the Boogyman of Night City.

Grievous: I am the bringer of your death.

Smasher: Hmph. You look like nothing more than a bug under my feet. I'll rip you to shreds, boy.

Grievous: Hah... I'd like to see you try.

Grievous took out his blaster and shot Smasher in the face, but it had no effect. Smasher dashed at him and grabbed him, slamming him into a wall. He went for a punch, but Grievous dodged, causing Smasher to punch a hole through the wall behind him instead. Grievous then threw his cape at Smasher's face, blinding him for enough time to grab an Electrostaff from one of the now-destroyed MagnaGuards. As soon as Smasher took the cloak out of his face, Grievous hit him in the chest, but Smasher was barely phased. Grievous went for another swing, but Smasher caught it and snapped the staff in two.

Smasher: That all you got choom?

He punched Grievous away and started shooting at him with his arm cannon. Grievous was dodging the bullets and jumping on walls. He then jumped on the ceiling and slammed down on Adam Smasher, smashing him to the lower floor. A bunch of Arasaka Corpos started running as Smasher recovered from the fall, only for Grievous to come down and stomp his head into the ground.

Grievous: A sorry excuse for a soldier. Your death means nothing to me!

Smasher: We'll see about that.

Smasher hacked into Grievous' cybernetic body and stunned him, allowing Smasher to pick him up and throw him across the floor. Grievous quickly recovered and took out two blasters, immediately blasting at him. Smasher used his Sandevistan to slow down time, allowing him to dodge the lasers from the blaster and start shooting at him with a gun of his own. As he shot at the General, he fired several missiles from his shoulder.

Once time resumed, Grievous was engulfed in explosions. He jumped out of the blast, taking out two lightsabers and swinging them. Smasher tried to block with his gun, which was cut in half. He took out his Monosword, and Grievious swung his Lightsabers, and they clashed, creating a shockwave around them and knocking each other back. General Grievous recovered pretty quickly.

Grievous: An interesting weapon. It will make a fine addition to my collection.

Smasher: Go ahead. Try and take it.

Adam Smasher fired more missiles at Grievous, who continued to dodge them before swinging his lightsabers. Smasher went to block, but Grievous knocked the blade out of his hands. Smasher then started firing missiles without caring what innocent civilian was around. Grievous jumped back to dodge, only for Smasher to charge at him and punch him straight out of Arasaka Tower. As Grievous fell, he started running down the tower.

Smasher: None escape the Slaughterhouse... not alive.

The mercenary goes down the elevator with another gun. As he descended, he aimed the gun at the descending Grievous and started firing bullets. Grievous spun his lightsabers and deflected them as Smasher fired several missiles. Grievous jumped up to dodge the rockets as his grappling hook came out and attached to the elevator, bringing Grievous on top of it. He stabbed his lightsabers into the elevator. Smasher saw this and immediately started firing above his head, but missing every shot as Grievous ripped open the top of the elevator and tried to grab him.

Smasher grabbed his arm and pulled him into the elevator. He went for a punch, but electric wires came out of Grievous' arm and shocked him. Smasher grunted and threw Grievous out of the elevator. Grievous crash-landed on the ground as Smasher jumped out, shooting a pistol with three bullets down at Grievous before taking out a hammer and smashing it down onto Grievous' body. The impact caused a huge explosion and a massive crater. Grievous went to crawl as Smasher looked down on him with another gun.

Smasher: Look at you. Who are you to challenge me? You're nothing more than another piece of fuckable meat.

As he said that, a bunch of Arasaka Guards came to surround Grievous. He started to struggle back to his feet.

Grievous: Gah... cough cough... geh... you just don't get it, do you? No matter what army you bring... you... are... DOOMED!

Three airships flew down behind Grievous, and out of those airships came a ton of droids fighting against the Arasaka Guards. Grievous took out two more arms, now carrying four lightsabers. Two of the Lightsabers were spinning rapidly as he approached. Smasher swung his hammer, which was immediately cut into pieces as Grievous knocked him back. Smasher used his Sandevistan to slow down time and once again fire missiles. Time resumed, but Grievous dodged the missiles and jumped up at Smasher, who aimed his arm canon only for it to be cut off.

Grievous: Die!

The General turned around and swung his lightsaber, cutting off his head. He then stomped on it and smashed it to pieces. As Smasher's lifeless body fell, the Droid army held their guns up in victory.

Junko: Welp, good luck with Arasaka trying to restore a smashed-up head.

Kokonoe: Adam Smasher was a truly impressive opponent. His arsenal allowed him to hold his own with Grievous and certainly gave the general a hard time.

Junko: Both had a few things in common too, especially with both being able to analyze the other easily. But the biggest factor in this wasn't how many abilities they had. It was who could deliver the killing blow first.

Ann: Yeah, they both had a lot in their arsenal, but Smasher's body is tough enough to take a lot of damage and should be able to get hit by a blaster and still be okay. And we all know a simple bullet isn't enough to get through the incredibly tough body of General Grievous. So there were only two options. Grievous' lightsabers and Adam Smasher's monosword. Both of which can cut through almost anything.

Junko: But once you look at that, it becomes clear just how outmatched Adam Smasher was. Yes, Smasher had plenty of Hax to slow him down, but Grievous is a general for a reason. He's faced many opponents who can do similar things to Adam and has almost always come out on top. Whether that be reading his mind or even stunning him. Slowing down time is new, but that wouldn't matter since almost none of Smasher's equipment can deal much damage. And once the strategy switched to swords... well... you might as well be playing right into Grievous' hands.

Kokonoe: Right, there's a reason Grievous makes sure to prevent the force from being used when battling Jedi. That is so that he can take them on in something he knows he has the advantage in. These two may be similar in experience, but there is no denying Adam Smasher is more skilled with guns than swords. And once he decides to use one, Grievous can easily figure out his fighting style and know how to counter it.

Ann: And considering Grievous was strong enough to crush Mandalorian armor, he could probably crush Smasher with his bare hands, considering Smasher's body is much weaker. Too bad Smasher couldn't do the same.

Junko: Sorry, Adam, but you weren't able to Smash this time! Leaving the General very Grievous!

Kokonoe: The winner is General Grievous.

Neptune Trivia: Battle #164

Connections- Two formerly organic treacherous cyborgs who slowly replaced nearly every single part of their body with machinery. Both served as major military forces and war "heroes" during massive wars that spanned all of their settings. Known for being exceptionally skilled in hunting down and crushing specific groups that oppose them (Jedi and Cyberpunks). Both have a long-standing grudge and rivalry with one of the protagonists (Obi-Wan Kenobi and V/Johnny Silverhand). Both have the weakness of having their organic heart hidden under their cybernetic armor. Stripped away from whatever was left of their humane parts, their transformations into cyborgs had turned them into cold, relentless, unstoppable killing machines who would kill whoever stood in their way and strike fear into those who dared oppose them.

Contrasts- Grievous was once a celebrated war hero who was loved by his people until his life began to fall apart and his race was almost all but wiped out, which left him near death's door, leading him to receive cybernetic enhancements unwillingly and the only way he could live. Adam, on the other hand, is a straight-up psychopath who enjoys killing people, hence why he enlisted his service with the military force and took dirty jobs, willingly undergoing cybernetic changes to allow him to become better at the art of killing a man

- Grievous was meant to appear in our Death Battle ever since we started Season 1

*He was meant to face Dr.Nuferious, but that changed at the last minute

-Adam Smasher was also an opponent who was going to make an appearance last year but didn't

-As of writing this, Cyberpunk came out with a 2.0, making the Adam Smasher boss fight more difficult as fans complained about how easy it was.
