"Gotcha!" a man shouted. Max and Duke whirled around to find an animal control officer. He had Duke on the loop stick they always had with them. Another officer was running over with his own stick. His eyes wide with fear, Max howled, "Duke! Hang on!"

"No Max! Run! Get out of here!" Duke barked. He struggled to free himself but it was no use. The mutt could see the other guy coming. Max would be easy to capture. All he had to do was give the terrier some time to run. Purposely knocking the officer trying to wrangle him over, the Newfoundland mix shouted, "Go home Max! Save yourself!"

"Come here doggie!" the officer running called. He was getting closer. His eyes darting between Duke and the animal control, Max closed his eyes and made his decision. He ran. Racing as fast as he could away from the animal control officers, the Jack Russell terrier yipped over his shoulder, "I'll come back for you Duke! I'm gonna get help!"

"Let's go big guy! Get in there!" one of the officers ordered. It took both officers to get the giant dog inside the van. The cage door shutting behind him, Duke sighed heavily and sat down. It was only when he lifted his gaze when he realized he wasn't the only one inside. In a cage with Buddy, Mel smiled and waved. The cats Chloe and Ozone were in the next cage over. Across from Duke were the Flushed Pets Tattoo, Bearded Dragon and Ripper. Next to them was a tranquilised Tiberius. Looking absolutely bored, Chloe muttered, "So... who all has been to animal jail before?"

"Help! Help!" Max yelped, running down the sidewalk. Yet no one dared to answer his calls. At that moment, the terrier heard a vehicle coming up from behind him. Peering over his shoulder, he gasped when he saw it was the animal control van. Jumping behind a mailbox's wooden post, the Jack Russell terrier watched as the van drove by. Sighing heavily, he whimpered, "I'm so sorry Duke."

"Max!" Gidget's voice called out. Raising his head, Max gasped. Gidget was racing over, Sweetpea hovering over her head. The elderly basset hound Pops was hot on their heels. Giving the Jack Russell terrier a hug, the fluffy white Pomeranian exclaimed, "Thank goodness they didn't catch you too! Animal control got everyone!" His eyes widening in shock, Max rasped, "Everyone?"

"Yes Tiny Dog, they got everyone," Snowball pointed out. The small group whirled around in horror. Sure enough, there was the white rabbit. Leaning towards Gidget, Pops whispered hoarsely, "Apparently not everyone youngster." Folding his paws together as if in prayer, Snowball turned to Max and spoke calmly, "Tiny Dog, I propose a deal."

"You want me and my friends dead," Max growled, baring his teeth. Waving it off, Snowball replied, "That's all in the past now. Look, the popo took my comrades and your friends. We share a common problem here and we need to save them. Fortunately, I have an idea but in order for it to work I need your help."

"Again, you wanted us dead," Max commented. Holding his paw out, Snowball pleaded, "If we don't do anything, our pals are going to the pound. We need to save them and we need to do that together. Come on, what do you say? Do we have a deal?" Glancing down at the rabbit's outstretched paw, Max sighed heavily and shook it. "Deal," he grumbled, "Now what's the plan?"

"We need a bus."

"A what?"
