FILLER CHAPTERS

Girl, do you remember the plot of your story? 🤦

This is actually a huge turnoff for me, more like, it annoys me. I remember when I finished my second book [Murder On Christmas Eve], it had only thirteen chapters and some people were like,

"So soon?"

"Just thirteen chapters?"

And I am like, I am done with the story, the plot has come to an end, what else do you want to read?

I don't have problem with about three filler chapters in a book of twenty to twenty-five chapters, because as an author I understand that we do get the urge to add certain things, that has nothing to do with the plot.

But in situations were you see three fillers out of five.

Chapter 1&2 - We see the plot.

Chapter 3,4,5,6,7 and 8 - Welcome fillers.

I don't know if you understand what I mean, because when I rant I usually don't stop to think if I am making sense *he he*

No one is saying you can't write a chapter for laughs or anything like that, but at least, limit it. Don't make me question why I started reading your book because you're not showing me the plot I expected to see.

Yes, I know your character brushes her teeth, I know she combs her hair, I know her friends are annoying, I know her boyfriend loves her, but I also want to see her finding clues, I want to know who kidnapped Mary, I want to know the villian.

Don't spend time talking on these side scenes, hit the hammer on the nail and stop taking us roundabout.
