chapter nine!

season 1, episode 9 - revolutions!

Aurora's outfit!

THE NEXT DAY, IT WAS THE ANNUAL COUNTY FAIR and Aurora wasn't really feeling it at the moment. Ever since what happened between her and Cole yesterday, all she wanted to do was go home. "Hey, A. You okay?" Ned asked as he handed her a candied apple. "Thanks, and not really."

"What happened?" Aurora sighed, fiddling with her cowboy hat. "Me and Cole got into an argument last night. He ended things and I'm pretty mad about it."

"Do you want me to beat him up? Because I can."

"No, no.  I don't want you to have bad blood with him, especially since you're my best friend." Ned sighed, "Fine. I just hate that he made you sad." Aurora nodded as she sighed, "I guess I thought he'd be different, y'know? I actually liked him and he just had to ruin it."

"Do you still like him, A?"

"No..."

"Oh my God, you do!"

"Lower your voice, Ned! I may still like him but I'm really mad at him."

"Uh oh, he's coming over here.  Do you want me to do anything?"

"No, Ned. I got this and plus, I think Jackie's here."

"Okay. Just text me if anything happens, alright?"

"I will.  Now go find your girlfriend, dude." Aurora answered as she playfully pushed him, causing the boy to laugh. Once Ned was gone, Aurora felt a slight tap on her shoulder. "Hey, sleeping beauty."

Aurora slowly turned around, crossing her arms. "Don't call me that anymore, Cole. We aren't friends so just leave me alone." The blonde furrowed his eyebrows, following the girl. "What do you mean, sleeping beauty?"

"You called it quits, Cole. I get that you were drunk and shit but it doesn't mean you can be a jackass about things."

"Look, I'm sorry, okay? Let me make it up to you."

"How? You can't take back what you said, Cole. Just... give me some space, okay?" Cole nodded, "Okay, slee- Aurora." As Aurora walked away, Cole couldn't help but sigh. He really needed to make things right between them. He genuinely liked her and he had ruined his chance with her.

Little did he know that a chance of rain would help.

THE COUNTY FAIR HAD EVENTUALLY CAME TO AN END as Aurora waved goodbye to Ned and Jackie. She felt a slight tap on her shoulder, causing her to turn around. "Hi."

"Hey... do you want me to drop you home? I think it's supposed to rain today and-"

"Sure." The two walked in awkward silence to Cole's car which the blonde boy hated. He wished to hear her sweet voice talk about anything, seeing her pretty smile again.  "Are you okay, Cole?"

"Yeah, I'm fine, prin- Aurora."

The two got in the car, now on the road. They were still in silence even though the radio was blasting music. The rain eventually started to pour as Aurora looked out the window. Cole stopped the car, listening to the drops. "Why aren't we moving?" Aurora asked.

"We're almost to your house. I have an umbrella so we can walk and your hair looks too nice to get ruined. Please?" Aurora tried to fight a smile, "Fine." Cole grabbed the umbrella out of the trunk, opening the door for Aurora as he held the umbrella up. "Thanks."

"No problem." As they walked, Aurora glanced at the blonde boy. "Why are you doing this, blondie?"

"Doing what, princess?"

"Being so nice to me even though you were a prick yesterday."

"Look, I'm really, really sorry, Aurora. I shouldn't have said those things to you last night and I shouldn't have ended things between us. Yes, I was drunk but it was very wrong of me to act like a jackass."

"What if I don't forgive you?"

"Then I'd wait, princess. I'd wait for as long as it takes until you'd forgive me." Aurora smiled, "Well, good. Because I forgive you, blondie."

"I don't deserve to be, sleeping beauty. What if I mess things up again? What if-" Aurora touched his hand, "Cole, calm down. You're going to be fine, okay? Plus, I'll be there to help you."

As they reached her house, Aurora took a deep breath. It was now or never. "Cole, I have something to tell you."

"What is it, sleeping beauty?"

"I really, really like you. I've felt like this for some time and I just wanted to let you know." Cole smiled, "Thank God. I really, really like you too."

"Wait, you do?" Cole nodded, "Why do you think I like talking to you everyday at school? I've got a crush on you, Aurora Banks."

"And I've got a crush on you, Cole Walter. But I should probably go inside now since tomorrow is your brother's wedding."

"Yeah, that's true.  Good night, princess."

"Cole, wait." The boy turned to face her, only to receive a kiss on the cheek from Aurora. "Good night, blondie." As she went inside, Cole wore a wide grin.

He was down bad for Aurora Banks.
