Residence: the reconstructed Island Palace

That's cool. Just curious, how was the new palace built? The original palace was created with animus magic, but I'm assuming the new one was just made by regular workers?

Appearance: in his youth, Nudibranch was a cornflower blue with a lighter underbelly and turquoise eyes. His bioluminescent scales are longer than an average SeaWings, banding across his body. He has cerulean tones at the base of his scales and horns, while his webbing is paler. Age has gotten to Nudibranch though; his colors have begun to fade to a more gray-scale and he's begun to grow a bit of a potbelly. Stocky and well muscled, he is still quite strong for his old age and puts up a good tussle with the youngsters. He wears a sapphire earring as a sign to his rank as royal caretaker and a necklace made by his children. The necklace is braided sinew with bits of shells, coral and a few pearls attached.

I like that you made him change as he aged, that's not something you see very often. I'm not sure if dragons in the WoF universe age like that, all we really know is that they get bigger, but it's an interesting detail nonetheless. I like his jewelry, that's something that's often left out of character's appearances. I like the cornflower blue scales. While blue is a pretty overused color in SeaWings, I don't see that specific shade very often. Overall, his appearance is pretty great!

Personality: calm and easy-going, Nudibranch is a very warm kind of character, always doing his best to please others. He can be a bit slow and is quite gullible, a fact the dragonets love to exploit when they play together. He is incredibly patient, and he ended up with his jobs because he was both son of the Queen and his personality trait worked very well. He is very curious, but his curiosity often turns to nosiness and is always in someone else's business. He hates having secrets kept from him, and is a social sponge to soaks up gossip and lets it all out at the slightest squeeze for information. Nudibranch is also cowardly in combat, but very dedicated to his job. He has a hard time adapting to sudden changes in his life, and was traumatized when he lost Thresher and Reef.

Alright! Some pretty great traits here! I like that he gossips, that's not a very common trait. A lot of his strengths are pretty overused— calm, easy-going, etc. Though, I think his flaws make up for that. One thing that bothers me is that you mention that he's traumatized, but don't really go into detail after that. A traumatized character usually won't be calm and easy-going, they'd be more anxious and jumpy. I think that's something that you could go more into detail on. Trauma can really affect someone.

THAT IS A BIG FAMILY

Backstory: born in a clutch of two sisters and a brother, Nudibranch was a very quiet and reserved dragonet. He wasn't big on the nightly adventures his siblings went on, but joined them to make sure they didn't cross too many lines. He kept the reserved demeanor throughout his childhood, slowly opening up as he began school with the other SeaWing dragonets. He wasn't much for literature or art, but enjoyed crafting and, oddly enough, cleaning. He liked to do dramatic readings to other dragonets, becoming a teacher helper at the age of 7. When he was 10, Queen Surf assigned him as head butler to the Island Palace, which had been rebuilt years ago. It took him some time to adjust to being in a new environment, but he handled it well with the guidance of Reef. Thresher had decided to become a pearl diver, while Princess Tide was the eldest daughter and Reef had no interest in being queen, opting to be a guardian instead. The Island Palace had been rebuilt mainly for friends after the war could see each other, and Nudibranch was responsible for welcoming guests and showing them about. Guests described him as 'warm, talkative, extroverted, lively, a hassle, etc.' When he was 17, he was brought news that Thresher had been attacked by a mysterious animal whilst diving and didn't make it. He was devastated, and so was the rest of his family. He and reef returned to the Deep Palace to mourn their brother, along with a new brood of siblings. Many soldiers were sent out to track down and kill the beast. Nearly a third of the party was lost, including Reef. In the end though, they were successful. The monster turned out to be a Sperm Whale, which was nearly twice the size of an adult SeaWing. The royal family mourned once more, but the vengeance against the beast helped them move on. Nudibranch began to court a wood carver named Skate when he was 23. Skate was flattered by the arrangement of anemones she'd find outside her den every other day, and she enjoyed teaching him some simple sculpting. He proposed to her with a handcrafted seahorse, and Skate agreed with a smile on her face. It wasn't the prettiest of carvings, but the amount of heart was obvious. They had their first, and only, clutch when they were both 28 years old. They were all born perfectly healthy, and Nudibranch doted on them constantly. Luckily, Skate made sure to reel him back from spoiling them rotten. When his children turned 4, he was told that Queen Surf was gravely ill. He and his family hurried off to say their last goodbyes to the elderly dragon. After a funeral for both Surf and Barracuda, he stayed at the Deep Palace to watch Tide's coronation. He was given his necklace on his 30th birthday, and it's something he treasures immensely. "One day, while a SkyWing was visiting an old friend, they brought their son with them. The dragonet, named Ash, was quick to befriend Nudibranch's children, and they played together for hours on end. Ash also told them of Jade Mountain Academy, from what his elder sister told him. He was to be enrolled the next time it was open, and Nudibranch was eavesdropping on all of Ash's stories. He honestly didn't know how he felt about this Academy. If his dragonets wanted to go, he could never say no. But then his little bundles of joy would be gone... Luckily for him, Puffin and Hyacinth showed no interest in the academy whatsoever. Hyacinth was interested in weapon making while Puffin wanted to follow his mother's footsteps as a sculptor (eventually a stonemason). Kittiwake, or Kitti, was greatly intrigued by the academy, and Nudibranch relented to his son's sly, subtle pleas. Kitti was sent off when he was 7, and Ash promised to look after him. "Nudibranch became well acquainted to Ash's parents, Inferno and Starling. Eventually, the SkyWing family became regular guests. They'd talk for ages about their kids in their free time, Skate and Starling even collaborating on art pieces (Starling was a painter). Kitti and Ash returned to their families Avery Summer, and Nudibranch was pleased by how much his son was learning. When Kitti was around 14, he confessed to his parents of his orientation as gay and his romantic relationship with Ash. Nudibranch and Skate were surprised, but not at all deterred by that fact. They wanted to support Kittiwake as much as they could, and researched the subject as much as they could. There wasn't much, but they still cared very much about Kitti. Not much happened before a 25-year-old Puffin declared his new mate Starfish, and their first clutch was laid. When Nudibranch was 54, he was also shown that Kitti and Ash had adopted their own egg. They decided to let Nudibranch name it, and he settled for Horizon; the place where the sea and sky meet.
I dunno where to end with that, so kind of a WIP?

Alright! A very long backstory, I think you could probably shorten it because a lot of the things mentioned here aren't that important to his life. However, I still like it, it's simple and easy to follow. Nothing is too dramatic, he seems to just have a normal life. I like the plot point with the sperm whale, I haven't seen something like that before. One thing I'd keep in mind is that dragons can live to around 150, though I think you're going by human years, so I guess it makes sense that he'd die around 70. I don't know. Why do dragon ages have to be so confusing?

I get that this is a WIP, which is totally fine, but this backstory does seem kind of unfinished. It just cuts off after he names the egg, which bothers me. Otherwise, good backstory.

Other: I kinda made this dude on a whim, just to use the name Nudibranch. But I really love the story idea, so I'll probably use it!

Okay. The attachment issues are good. Like what I was talking about before, his trauma should affect his personality more. I can see how losing family would cause him to have attachment issues. I think you should elaborate on that.

Overall
Nudibranch gets an 8/10. I like his appearance a lot! His personality is okay for the most part, but again, I think the trauma and attachment issues should affect his personality a bit more. His backstory is unnecessarily long, but it's good. Not the best, but still good. I don't like how it just cuts off, however. It seems kind of unfinished. I understand that you're still working on him, which is fine. Overall, he's pretty good.
