Winter looked out on the horizon. He had been working in the newly-built town, Sanctuary, for a few months now. His friends from the Jade Winglet came to visit him often, and he enjoyed seeing them. He didn't tell anyone that, though. Qibli was coming tomorrow, so that he could have some help with a project he was doing for Webs about scavengers.

Winter sat there thinking for a while more, about Moon, Qibli, his family, and his job with the Talons of Peace. He smiled faintly. When he was younger, if someone told him that he would join the Talons, go to a school with dragons from all tribes, fall in love with a NightWing, and work with scavengers for the rest of his life, he would have clawed their face off.

The sun had set now, so Winter headed back to his small home. It had one room, with all of Winters things in it. He didn't have much, just a bed, letters from his friends, and scrolls littering the floor.

He lay in his bed, thinking about the coming day. He was going to be with Qibli for an entire day. He didn't know how he felt about that. He was dreading the SandWings terrible jokes, but in a way, he was really excited. He heart seemed to do jumping Jack's every time he thought about the SandWing. He had felt similarly about this with Moon, just not as intense.

Was he falling for Qibli? The funny, weird, SandWing that he had always hated. He couldn't believe it. Well, maybe he could. What would his family think about it? They would hate you, Winter thought, First a NightWing, then a SandWing? He was such a disgrace. But his family wouldn't care anymore. They thought he was dead, and didn't care that he existed. What would Moon think? She was dating Qibli, right? He would never have a chance to date anyone he liked. He could only wish.
