"Hey, Winter, could you help me with this scavenger?" Riptide called. Winter was in Sanctuary, and he and Riptide were making a safe place for scavengers to stay. They had finished it, but the scavengers were really fast and hard to catch, so getting the scavengers in the building was the hardest part.

"Yeah, I'm coming," Winter called back. He ran over to where Riptide was and approached the scavenger silently. He crept up to the scavenger, Riptide behind it so the two of them could corner it, and Winter quickly grabbed it with his talons and put it in the cage to take it to its new home.

When Winter had finished with the scavenger, he went to his small hut he lived in. It had one room with a bed to sleep on and a bookshelf with scrolls, and scrolls littering the floor. He had a few things on a nightstand, like a letter from Turtle, one from Moon, one from Kinkajou, and multiple from Qibli. Winter's heart seemed to squeeze in his chest when he thought of the SandWing. Qibli sometimes came to Sanctuary when he wasn't busy with school, and the two would talk for hours about random things, from Moon and Kinkajou to how stupid both their families are, and the occasional who-can-keep-a-pineapple-on-their-snout-for-the-longest-time contest. But Winter looked forward to the times when Qibli would come to Sanctuary. The SandWing walking into a room could almost make Winter smile. Almost. But it took a lot to have Winter smile. He had been raised not to show emotions, and it was hard for Winter to break his childhood habits.

"Winter, it's dinnertime!" A dragon called. It sounded like Moon, but it couldn't be. She said that she and the rest of the Jade Winglet had a huge project they were working on. Inter secretly hoped it was, but he quickly squashed them. They wouldn't be there. They would all be working on the project. Besides, they had already come to Sanctuary recently. They wouldn't be able to leave again.

But, as Winter walked it of his small house to the dining area, his face lit up. In the dining area, Moon, Kinkajou, and Turtle were sitting at a small table with food placed on top of it. Qibli, on the other talon, was standing next to Winter in the entrance, with a small hat that waiters would wear and a napkin across one of his arms. He had a solemn expression on his face, but Winter could tell it was fake. After a few moments, Qibli shook the hat off and put the napkin on the table.

"That was really uncomfortable." Qibli said. He looked at Winter. "Surprise!" he said, waving his talons. "I'm sure you're just overwhelmed with happiness now that we're here. Now, let's eat. I'm starving."

"Okay," Winter said. "How'd you get permission to come anyway? You guys said you had a big project you were working on."

"Well," Kinkajou said. "The project was one of those 'do your own research and make a presentation on it' things, and we chose scavengers just so we could get an excuse to come up here."

"Pretty much." Qibli said. "So we're all here!"

"We also wanted to ask you if we could use some of the scavengers and test numismatic on them." Turtle said.

"Yeah, that's fine." Winter said. "How long do you all have here?"

"We have until abut midday tomorrow." Moon said.

"Great." Wings replied. "Lets eat first, and then I can go get you all some scavengers."

--------------

The group all ate dinner, and then Winter took them to the scavenger home they had made, then took it a scavenger, put it in one of the portable cages, and gave it to Moon. It was getting dark, too, so they all had to go to bed. Winter said goodbye, then went to his home.

He laid in bed for hours, thinking about Qibli. Whatever he did, Winter just couldn't top thinking about that stupid SandWing. He didn't know why. The only answer he could come up with was that he had a crush on Qibli, but he told himself he couldn't. But a small part of him, just a small part, wanted it to be true.
