Some of you may know this about me, I have a very hard time sleeping.

It takes me hours to fall asleep no matter what time I go to bed. Last night was no exception.

I was laying in bed at 1 in the morning (wide awake as usual) when I thought I would attempt to get some shut eye.

That was when the noises started....

Some of you might have seen those messages I put up on my profile last night, and let me assure I was not kidding. When I say "strange noises" I'm not taking about the house settling, wind blowing outside, my hamster making a ruckus in his cage, nope. I am talking strange sounds.

I mean there was thumping coming from one of my closets, at one point it sounded like someone was banging on the walls outside of my room, and to top it all off it sounded like someone was walking around outside.

Yeah, it was not fun for me whilst I lied in bed wrapped under my covers and trying to remain as still as possible.

Because logic clearly states that as long as you're under a blanket no harm can come to one. (Survival 101 folks)

Eventually the noises died down and I was able to drift off to an "almost-sleep" when suddenly: I heard the weirdest, strangest, jarring sound of the night.

I don't know what it was (I wasn't about to go find out because if I left my blanket I would be exposed) but it sounded like an animal, somewhat of a mix between a rodent and cat, shrieking in pain.

AND IT WAS COMING FROM ONE OF MY CLOSETS

Okay technically, it's not a closet, it's a small room within my room where the water heater and all that stuff is located.

Anyways, after being jolted back into full awareness, I waited to see if I would hear the sound again.

And I did, and it scared me, again.

Then the thumping noises started up followed by another animal like shriek and this was my first thought: Demogorgon

That was when I realized two things.

1. I'd been watching too much Stranger Things

and

2. I probably had some kind of animal taking refuge in the small room that is right next to my bed

At this point I checked to see what time it was, believing that some time had passed since I'd "fallen asleep" so what time was it?

2:40am

I had only been asleep....

FOR FORTY MINUTES

To say I was annoyed would be an understatement, I WAS FURIOUS

I was dead tired and wanted nothing more then to drift through the cosmos that only sleep provided, but NOOOOOOO

THE WEIRD CREATURE IN THE HEATER ROOM WANTED TO AUDITION FOR THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA

Just when I thought all was calm, that awful shriek would assault my eardrums!

I don't know how long it actually took me to fall asleep after that point, only that I woke up around 8 this morning, laid back down again, and finally woke up at 10

Now I still haven't checked out the heater room to see if there's anything in there (no WAY am I doing that) I'm just gonna wait until someone else comes along who is more qualified (and doesn't think I'm crazy) to investigate for me.

So there you have it folks, another day in the night life of your friendly (sleep deprived) writer MonsterCupcake!
