The next morning finds me up early, a little groggy and mud streaked. Groaning, I have to wait on the shower since Mythine beat me to it, so I take the time to strip down my bed and get them down to the wash. Dirt streaked bedding is hardly an unusual thing in Werewolf households, so big, thick comforters that you see humans with aren't very common.

Today is the first day of school, and I'm actually looking forward to checking out my new classes. I love learning and I love books, so I'm pretty much your typical nerd, although I don't consider myself all that smart. Unless you put me on a topic that I'm really passionate about, then it's a different story.

Thanks to my sibling taking forever, I only get maybe five minutes and it's a pretty cool scrub down. Breakfast is toast on the run, and I have to pray I have everything I need already in my bag. The high school building itself isn't that far away, so we get to walk there, but I'm already late, so I take off at a speed that makes it pretty obvious I'm not human.

There are groups still milling around outside, but those are locals who know where everything is. The smells of humans mixing with wolves are everywhere. Visually, you can't tell who's who, but smell will. It's a pretty well-known fact that Werewolves tend to be better looking than average, so I guess you could try going by that, or height.

I only linger long enough to get a brief idea of the main cliques of this watering hole. You have your typical ones; jocks, cheerleaders, goths, outsiders, and nerds. Then there seems to be another set. Glancing between them, they're almost split down the middle, half-human the other half-wolf.

A trickle of unease goes down my spine. They all look relatively calm towards each other, but divided like that can't be good. Especially for the 'tougher' groups, such as the outsiders and jocks, who always seem like they have something to prove.

Shaking my head, I can't worry about that now and rush past. I don't see either of my siblings, so either they're already inside and meeting the people they need to, or already with their designated groupies. Knowing Mythine, she'll be asking after the local Alpha in training.

I love my sister, as much as one can in my circumstances, but she's a social climber. Not content with being in the political shadow like our parents, she wants to be the one on the arm of whoever's in the limelight. As long as I'm kept out of all her drama, I could really care less.

Once inside the building, it seems so much darker compared to outside, so much so I can feel my eyes dilate to compensate. The noise as well is more condensed, and I'll never understand why they can't put the main offices right in front of the main doors. Hiking my bag further on my shoulder, I take a deep breath and dive in, hoping going straight gets me somewhere.
