Osana looked over at Taro, chewing on her bottom lip as she thought about what he had said. He was trying to set her up with a girl from school, something Osana wasn't so sure of. Osana kinda wanted to say yes, but there was something holding her back, or should I say someone. There was a huge part of her that was hoping someone else would ask her out, but that wasn’t happening anytime soon. You see, Osana had this massive crush on Taro's sister, which he doesn’t know about. And something that’d she'd never tell him about because one, it was his sister and two, well, there really wasn’t a two. Still though, she was his sister and he’d probably freak out if he knew his best friend was crushing on his little sister.

Osana took a deep breath before giving Taro an answer. “I don’t know, Taro. This doesn’t seem like a good idea."

"It’s a great idea, Osana. She really likes you. I can tell,” He told her, trying to convince her to agree.

“She’s nice, but she’s not my type,” Osana lied. She didn’t really have a type but like I said, she was still holding onto hope of her and Hanako.

“Oh my god, you like someone!” Taro fangirled.

Osana felt the color drain from her face. Think a little more and he was sure to find out who she liked. “What? No, I don’t like anyone, I just want to focus more on my schoolwork and dating is a distraction."

"That is such a lie. C'mon, what’s her name?” He asked, grinning widely.

“How are you sure it’s a she?” Osana retorted only for him to give her one of his looks. “Okay it’s a she."

"Yeah, so what’s her name?” He asked.

Osana came up with a totally random name. If she gave him one, it’d settle his curiosity for awhile. Until he started asking a thousand questions, so he could figure out a way to get the two together. But before she could speak another voice was heard. “What’s whose name?” They asked, making the two friends turn to look at her as she passed by.

“None of your business, Hanako.” Taro said, rolling his eyes at his sister’s presence.

“I wasn’t asking you. I was asking Osana.” She replied. “So what’s her name?"

Osana swallowed thickly, trying to find a way out of this situation, but thankfully Taro came to her aid. "You don’t have to answer that, Osana. Hanako is just being nosey. Now go away, Hanako."

The twin-tailed girl rolled her eyes at her bossy brother before going into the kitchen, keeping a close ear on the conversation. Taro waited until she was a good distance away before turning back to Osana. He was determined to get a name out of her and then he’d get the two together and be the best matchmaker there is. Osana, on the other hand, was trying to find some way to get out of this situation. Her only ideas were, tell him she liked his sister or go out with the girl he was trying to set her up with. Yeah, she liked option two better.

"You know what? You’re right. A date wouldn’t be so bad,” Osana told him, hoping to direct his attention to planning this date.

Hanako perked up at the word date, giving her full attention to Osana's conversation with her brother. Who the hell was Osana going on a date with? She didn’t like it, nope, not one bit. She saw her brother start squealing before running off to plan everything and tell the date Osana had agreed. When she saw that her brother was out of the room, she replaced his spot on the couch. Osana sighed and turned back around, giving a quiet yelp when she saw Hanako in front of her.

“Sorry, you startled me." Osana said.

“No worries. So, you’re going on a date, huh?” Hanako asked.

Osana nodded, wondering why she was asking. “Yeah, I am. Why do you care?"

"Psh, no reason. So who is this mystery woman?” Hanako  asked.

Osana stared at her with a confused look. It almost sounded like she was jealous… Yeah, right. “Uh, her name is Amai. She’s in Taro and mine’s gym class."

Hanako mumbled something under her breath, turning to look away from Osana.

“What?” Osana asked, not having heard what the other said.

“Nothing. You have fun now." The younger Yamada said before getting and walking away, leaving Osana in a state of confusion.

It didn’t last as Taro came back shortly, showing everything he had planned so far.

Osana found herself sat at a booth inside Splatburger, a new American restaurant in town, tapping her fingers on the table as she waited for a date that wasn’t showing up. She sighed heavily, as much as she didn’t want this date, it still hurt to be stood up. Osana saw the shadow of someone sliding into the seat across from her, raising her head. She expected to see Amai sitting across from her. Instead she saw Hanako with a wide smile on her face making Osana wonder why she was here.

“Hey, Hanako. What’re you doing here?” She asked.

The young Yamada pointed to the side where her band mates were setting up their equipment. Oh, she had a gig here. That made sense. Osana nodded in understanding, looking behind Hanako to see if her date was here, which she wasn’t just like Osana expected.

“So you waiting for that Amai chick?” Hanako asked.

“Uh, yup,” Osana replied.

Hanako smirked to herself. Oh, that girl wasn’t going to show up anytime soon. All thanks to Hanako. Earlier, she tracked down Osana's date and she may or may not have locked her in her basement until the night was over. Hmm, I wonder why Hanako went to such lengths? “Well, how about you and I hang out until she shows up?"

"Sure, why not?” Osana said, smiling widely.

Hanako moved to order for the two of them, watching the chute spit out two burgers and some fries. After just a few minutes with Hanako, Osana found herself laughing loudly at the jokes and stories that her companion was sharing. Currently, she was telling Osana an embarrassing story about Taro that she had never heard before, one that had Osana holding her side in slight pain from the laughter. Hanako felt her heart skip a beat at the sound of her orange-haired companion's laughter. It was so sweet and melodious. Damn these feelings of love!

Osana calmed down enough to catch her breath and to catch Hanako staring at her. “What? Do I have something on my face?"

"Huh? Oh no, sorry I was thinking,” Hanako said, quickly covering up for staring.

She quickly distracted Osana with another joke, wanting to hear the sound of her laughter again. Before she knew it, Osana had spent the whole day with Hanako. It had gotten dark and one of her band mates had come for Hanako so they could do their show. Which she had asked Osana to stay for and, of course, she did.

The next day at school, Taro and his girlfriend, Ayano, had bombed Osana with all sorts of questions. The only question she managed to hear was them asking how the date had gone.

“I don’t know, she never showed up.” She told them, closing her locker and collecting her things.

“What? She never showed up? That can’t be true,” Ayano said, shock laced in her tone.

“Yeah, Amai is a sweet girl. She wouldn’t stand you up like that. Maybe she had an emergency that prevented her from calling." Taro replied.

“Right. Not even a text,” Osana sighed, but she wasn’t disappointed of last night.

“Look, here she comes. We’ll ask her now.” Taro said, walking towards Amai. “Hey, Amai!"

"Hey Taro, Ayano, and Osana.” She smiled at the three before it disappeared. “Oh God, Osana. About last night, I can explain."

"Okay, explain.” Osana said, crossing her ams over her chest.

“I don’t really have an excuse but I lost track of time somehow. One minute I was getting ready, the next the entire day had passed. Let me make it up to you, tonight? A movie?” She asked.

Osana was about to reply when she felt someone at her side, wrapping their arm around her shoulders. “Sorry, we have plans tonight.” Hanako spoke.

“Oh, another time then.” Amai quickly walked away before it could get awkward.

Osana looked at Hanako in confusion. They didn’t have any plans, so what had gotten into her? Osana started to speak up, but the bell interrupted her, making her sigh. She’d have to ask about that later. Right now she was heading to class with Ayano following as the two had class together. Taro and Hanako stayed in the hallways, Taro having pieced everything together. The only reason why Amai didn’t show up last night was because Hanako had gotten in the way.

“Oh my god! You like Osana!” Taro exclaimed before he gave her a look of fake disgust. “Ew, you like my best friend!"

"Keep it down. I don’t want anyone else hearing.” She said.

“So wait, you stopping Amai last night, what was that about? You weren’t, like, jealous she had a date with Osana?” He teased.

“What? Me? Jealous? Yeah, right! As if!” Hanako replied, rolling her eyes at her brother's true accusations.

“Holy crap! Yes, you are! Ooo, I’m telling,” Taro teased in a sing-song voice. “Look, I can’t believe I’m actually saying this, but you should go for it. He’s a nice guy and you two would look nice together."

“But you really think so?"

He nodded. "Totally! I’ll even help you. Later though. I gotta get to class."

Osana packed up her things, shutting her locker before quickly turning around and coming face to face with Hanako. The two were awfully close together and when Osana tried to back away, the lockers seemed to stop her. "H-hey, Hanako.” She stuttered.

“Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date?” The black-haired female asked.

Osana stood there in shock. Did her long time crush just ask her out? Holy crap, she couldn’t believe it. It was like some sort of dream. Had she fallen asleep in class again? Osana used the hand that rested on the lockers to pinch herself, you know, just to make sure this was real. But to Hanako, Osana's silence was making her panic.

“I’m sorry I probably came off too strong,” She started, trying to fix her mistake.

“I’d love to!” Osana quickly replied before the other could take it back. “I would love to go on a date with you."

She grinned widely and sighed in relief. "Great, shall we make plans?"

Hanako held out her hand for Osana to take, which she gladly did, lacing the shorter's fingers with her own. Osana slung her backpack over her shoulder before beginning to walk with her. Who knew jealousy could get you a girlfriend?
