(Readers POV)

I was heading to combat class with my team. We made it to the classroom and was greeted by Glynda Goodwitch.

Glynda: Hello there team RWBY.

We sat down at our seats.

Glynda: Now that everyone is here, I will be explaining how this class works. I will pick two students to fight. The screen behind me will show the aura levels of the combatants. Once your aura goes into red, you are unfit to fight. Now do I have anyone that would like to do the first match?

I raised my hand immediately.

Glynda: Looks like we have our first match. (Y/N) (L/N) versus Yang Xiao Long.

I looked over to see Yang had raised her hand as well. She looked at me and smiled.

Yang: Good luck.

I sighed and got up. I went into the arena and Yang followed.

Glynda: And... Begin!

Yang dashed forward at me. I ran towards her and we collided heads.

Yang: Let's see if you got any better.

(Y/N): Trust me, I have.

We both jumped back. Yang tried to shoot me. I put up my gauntlets and blocked the shots. I saw Yang running at me. I turned my gauntlets into shields. Yang punched them and sent me back a bit. I decided to rush at her. We clashed fists. I did a sweeping kick, catching Yang off guard.

(Y/N): Gotcha.

I punched her into the floor. She was knocked back, but quickly got back on her feet. She dashed at me again. I raised my shields up, but she didn't punch them. She jumped up to get behind me and she punched me, sending me forwards. I hit the floor with one of my shields, sending me back and I kicked Yang. She was able to grab my leg.

Yang: Gotcha.

She slammed me into the floor. She let go of my leg and jumped up. She came down and tried to punch me. I rolled out the way and Yang crashed into the floor beside me. I got up and punched her. She was sent back and fell to the floor. She stayed there for a bit.

(Y/N): Get up already. I know what you're about to do.

A burst of flames shot out. Yang got up and her eyes turned red and her hair looked like it was on fire.

(Y/N): The semblance to get stronger through damage.

She dashed behind me with speeds she didn't have before. She punched me in the face. I was sent to the floor and I stayed there for a bit.

Yang: Get up already. Did I actually beat you?

I got up and activated my semblance. I rushed over to her and kicked her, sending her back.

(Y/N): Let's finish this.

Yang: I couldn't agree more.

We ran at each other. We both went for a punch. We punched each other in the face at the same time. Our aura shattered at the same time. We stopped and took a step back.

Glynda: It's a draw!

(Y/N): Damn it.

I left the arena and went back to my seat. I was kinda tired. Yang sat down next to me.

Yang: Good match.

I just gave her a thumbs up.

Weiss: Hey (Y/N). I noticed that you said what Yang's semblance is. But, what's yours?

(Y/N): My semblance is a lot like Yang's. We both take damage and become stronger. The difference is Yang can do more damage, I can take more damage.

Ruby: They're such cool semblances. Yang gets more attack and (Y/N) gets more defense.

Weiss: So nothing really happens when they fight?

(Y/N): Basically. We just cancel each other out.

Yang: If it's just us. It comes down to raw skill.

I sighed and closed my eyes. She says it's down to skill, but no. If it was down to skill, I would have won a long time ago. I train constantly and our matches always end in a draw. Glynda asked for two more students to come down and fight. I kept my eyes closed and I felt someone hit my arm.

Yang: You shouldn't sleep during class.

(Y/N): I'm not sleeping.

Yang: Sure. Whatever you say.

Class eventually ended. I got up and walked away. Ruby, Weiss, and Yang followed.

Ruby: What should we do now? Classes are done for the day.

(Y/N): I'm going to get a snack.

Yang: Then me, Ruby, and Weiss will head back to the dorm.

(Time skip)

I got a bag of chips. I walked to my dorm and knocked on the door. I opened it and I saw makeshift bunk beds. One of the beds was being held up by rope and the other was on top the other one with books under the legs.

(Y/N): What did you do to the beds?!

Ruby: We made bunk beds.

(Y/N): Why?!

Yang: So we can have more room.

(Y/N): Room for what?

Yang nervously laughed and looked away.

Yang: We haven't thought about that yet.

I sighed and looked around. I noticed that Weiss wasn't here.

(Y/N): Where is ice queen?

Ruby: She said that she was going somewhere. I don't know where though.

I looked at the beds.

(Y/N): Which ones mine?

Yang: The one above mine.

She pointed at the one that was above her bed by books.

(Y/N): I'm not sleeping on that.

Yang: What? Are you scared? I know I would sleep on that bed with no fear.

(Y/N): Then you sleep on it.

Yang: I can't.

(Y/N): Ok, why?

Yang: I roll around in my sleep. I might knock the bed down.

I sighed. I got on the bed and it was surprisingly stable. This might not be so bad.
