*Fractured Fairytale: The Servant Boy*

The story happened in the city of Angels.

Mason was happily living through his life as a high schooler without anything on his mind except kindness and love at its purest form. Having fun with his friends, dreaming about the future with such a hopeful look on his face.

But his perfect life was stolen away in a blink of an eye.

In a supposed-to-be beautiful day- his 16th birthday, the disaster struck: his parents got into a car accident, leaving Mason- the named of the boy- all alone.

The lawyers of the family had decided to let Deborah- a friend of Mason's parents to take custody of him, along with her sons, Bradley and Kendall, as she was the closest relative of her parents.

But little do they know that Deborah was the actual opposite of the one person that his parents see-a kind and compassionate woman.

She was actually a wolf in a sheep's clothing.

And her sons was mean and treated Mason like their personal servant.

From the day Mason got into the house, his life was always waking up at 5am to make breakfast for the entire family, then taking their laundry and cleaned the house, and getting exhausted making sure they always have matching socks. After spinning around with school and his own personal work, he also had to take care for the stepbrothers' homeworks and projects.

But he doesn't just have to take care of their mean selves at home. He had to deal with it at school.

Bradley and Kendall kept bullying him for years. And he knew he can't let anyone else know.

Simply because if he sparked up vengeance into his stepmother and stepbrothers, his life would be ruined.

It keeps on going until the day the senior prom.

And of course, on the night before the prom, Mason received a prophecy; the sentence that could not be important right now, but it would be important in the very near future for him:

"Dear boy, dear boy, the day of your suffering will be gone,

Wait until midday on the day after the prom,

When the magic of having a friend would come and slowly set you free from all."

He asked himself: "What does it mean?"

Why should anyone befriend "Mason the social outcast", and specifically, a guy that had no friends?

Also, just for the immediate future, no one wants a loser to show up at the prom

And that also means no prom for one senior in the school.

Like, what's the point going to the prom if you've already knew that you would be the "punch dumpster" of the party if you show up?

But hey, it's a SENIOR prom, so basically all seniors are invited, right?

So the only senior that did not show up to the prom at first decided to get his most well-kept tuxedo, and get himself to the prom.

But just as what he expected to happen, he got flooded by expired gravy from Bradley all over his clothes right after the moment the prom king was announced.

"Loser!"

"Freak!"

He was deeply humiliated and ashamed. He ran away from the place, the time was half past ten at night, while the people were having fun.

But just then, the magical thing happened.

He was walking the "walk of shame", soaking wet, cold and starving, before there was a hand that held him back.

"Hey, are you okay?" He turned around. It was the prom king.

The star linebacker of the school's football team, talking to him, the outcast of the entire school.

Mason blushed a bit because of the surprise act of caring from Brandon- the other guy's name.

"Do I look like I am okay?" He gestured to the gravy smell that is covered his entire body.

"Nah, not really." The other guy said and shrugged.

And then they kept on staring into each other's eyes.

Well, what to say right now... Brandon believed in something called "love at first sight".

And the one that he fell in love with at first sight was no other else than Mason.

He knew about Mason's story to its every last bit.

He wanted to take Mason out of the hell he's living in, but he lacked one crucial thing.

Courage.

"Why didn't you do anything? You know, about the bullies?" Brandon asked.

Mason shook his head:

"They're my stepbrothers. I can't do anything because if the school suspend them things would get worse. They would beat me more and do god knows what to me."

Brandon held in his anger beneath the calm look.

He wanted to protect Mason from the things he was suffering.

He wanted him in his arms.

Mason then noticed himself: one of his shoes had disappeared, and now he was standing with his socks exposed.

"And where is your shoe?"

"I don't even remember." Mason sighed, before walking away.

Deep inside, he knows that it is really rude and impolite, but wat could you possibly do when you're the school's social outcast?

Brandon stood frozen there, before he saw the guy's other shoe lying on the ground, near a beauty parlor.

He picked up the shoe, then rushed towards Mason:

"Hey, wait up! You forgot something!"

But Mason kept on walking. Yeah right, like he would care that he has lost his shoes...

After a 5-mile walk, Brandon lost track of Mason. He thought to himself as he walked through a house with a green door and the small mailbox that said: "Mason Reigns". Looking at the midnight sky, Brandon sighed to himself:

At the moment the clock struck twelve noon the next day, Mason was walking outside the house to check the mail, when he saw his shoe that he dropped when walking back home from the senior prom, along with a note:

"Hey, I thought this would belong to you. See you at school!

Your new friend, Brandon."

"Huh, the prophecy was right." He strangely looked at the shoe, then smiled and humming back inside.

The day was beautiful today, with the sun shining and the cool breeze blowing through the town.

Strangely enough, the storm yesterday was being told that it should last another week...
