Part 24 — Slowing Down

6:30... Fuck. Xin stared at her alarm clock as it blared at the wrong time. I never set it back from when I was back up there... well, fuck me. Might as well start the day now, because I'm used to it. She walked downstairs and opened the fridge. Surprisingly, there was a nearly-full jug of milk and one new, unopened one. This feels odd. She pulled out her phone. I'm not even hungry... I'll just pass the time.

At 8:00 AM, Zap got up. He walked downstairs and noticed a milk spill below the dinner table. He looked around and saw nobody. Well shit. When did this happen? Cleaning up the milk, he was glad that it was a recent spill. As he finished, he saw Xin walk downstairs. "Just woke up?"

"Uh... yeah," she replied. Because I definitely didn't go back to bed after waking up early.

"Everything alright? You seem off."

"Fine. Don't worry about it."

"Okay... up for breakfast?"

"Nah. I'll just go out and grab something later."

"Alright then." Zap put away the second plate.

"Hey," Xin said. "What are Patience's business hours?"

"Patience? It'll open at 8:30 and close at 11:30."

"Kay. Thanks."

"Sure." Xin walked out of the apartment, closing the door behind her.

Zap finished up cooking breakfast and went to grab a book to read. 15 chapters in, he felt his phone buzzing. "Hello?"

"Xin here. I've got a friend coming with me later, so don't worry, okay?"

"Right. See you then."

"Bye."

So I bring someone I don't know and she goes insane, but she brings a friend and tells me not to worry, Zap joked to himself. Right. I wonder who they are, anyway.
