Watson Norie
Had a story.
He had a tale to tell
Of how, one day,
He angered a witch
And she put him under a spell.

It wasn't something he meant to do.
Well, he just wouldn't! I mean,
Would you?

He sat, by mistake,
On her long, pointy hat,
While, beneath it, sleeping,
Was curled up her cat!

The witch was upset.
She could not be consoled,
And so she turned Watson
Into a toad!

But that was Thursday,
Three weeks ago.
Since then he's been turned
Into a speckle-backed doe,
A goat, a mule,
A long-eared bat,
An emu, a gnu,
Once even a gnat!

Just this week
He's been through
A fox, a pigeon,
An owl and a shrew,
And a King Charles Spaniel
Which, for some reason, was blue!

He's grunted, he's barked,
He's whistled and squeaked,
So he'd tell you his tale,
But he can't even speak!
