Cancer POV

The rays of sun shined brightly causing my eyes to shut again. I stood up from my bed and went to the bathroom to do the usual, take a bath, and brush my teeth.

In a hurry, I threw on a purple dress with thin straps that flowed mid thighs. It had a flower-like design and it fit me perfectly. My hair was in two dutch braids with loose strands on my forehead accompanied with white converse. Applying some pink lipstick, mascara and a bit of blush I decided I looked attractively well.

Taking my phone to read the notifications, a small smile played on my lips at my two best friends.

Message from Pie💞

Pie💞: Waiting outside, need help?

Message from Scorpio💖.

Scorpi💖: Hurry the hell up

I smiled at the texts of very different two best friends. I grabbed my luggage and my bookbag, wasting no time to reach downstairs.

"Caroline I'll miss you!" I gave my cute little sister a peck in the cheek as her upset expression softened me. I'd miss her no doubt but I'd be back, soo enough.

"I wuv you." She frowns touching my cheek with her gentle hand. Lifting each corner of her lips with my fingers brought a small smile to her lips but I saw her struggle to not completely give in.

"I love you too, tell mom I love her when she gets back from her job alright cupcake." I leaned down to hug her small body as if it was the last time I would ever hold her.

"ok" is all she says leaving me a bit heart broken but I knew she was just hurt that I wouldn't be hanging around everyday to give her my full attention.

"Behave for grandpa." I twirl one of her ponytails as she nodded with a giggle and scurried away to who knows where, making my way out of the house saddened me but I pushed the feeling down

As if I would never see her again.

"Hey princess." Pisces smiles when I came in and took a seat next to Scorpio.

"Hey Pie." I blowed a kiss at her as she pretended to be flattered at my flirtatious gestures.

"Sup Scorpi."

"You know I hate that nick name." He growls making me giggle.

As if I cared.

I sit back and relax in the back seat ignoring everything to just think. So let me just rephrase, I'm sixteen, a sophomore at a new school named Leighton Boarding school which is where we were heading right now. Everything will flow smoothly and sooner or later I'll be back in my bed being annoyed constantly while I'm trying to catch up on my shows.

Living with my younger sister has put me through hardships with mom barely home since she always has to work. Dad passed away a year after my six year old sister was born, she was only a few months old and unaware of the situation so it was difficult for me to accept this scholarship away from home. It seriously pains me when she questions where her father is and why everyone has a dad and she doesn't or when she tells her friends daddy's coming home soon from another country with presents because those are the lies my mom poisons her innocence with.

The sad truth is he's gone, a car accident took his life along with my older sisters' of whom cupcake is unaware of as well. She was beautiful though, absolute model material. She had long wavy choclate hair that reached her back halfway.

Her grey eyes always twinkled, they were always full of life and excitement. She was a confident, a brave social butterfly that always knew how to cheer anyone up. I always desired to be like her, she's amazing and so liked while there's just plain old me.

It all occured on mom's birthday, I was at home with my baby sister and few family members for a surprise party. My dad and my sister went out to bring the cake, when mom arrived home they still weren't there. Mom was content since she was so family-oriented, the idea of the whole family together is all she ever asked for.

We got a call that day from a near by hospital in town. They told us my father was in an accident and he passed away. Mom fell to the floor to just spill tears, she cried every day after that and still does.

My sister was still alive but not far from dieing so we raced to the hospital, the last thing she said was 'I love you, be strong' and her life was taken away minutes later due to an extreme loss of blood.

Even though mom was healthy and alive, her soul was drained from her and broken into small pieces before disappearing. She wasn't the happy person I used to know. Her braclet which I wore everyday is the only thing I have left of her. The event still haunts me. Of course I cried like there was no tomorrow but I remember that I have to be strong.

Somewhat my reason to not wanting to leave more family members behind.

We moved to another country because mom couldn't stay there any longer. Mom is a nurse's assistant who has to work all day to get her daily bread. She had no experience whatsoever when it came to jobs but she learned how to.

I was still grateful even when my dad was loaded and a beautiful mansion was our home since dad was an orthopedic. Now I'm not and I really don't mind either way. I met my grandpa when we moved to this city.

In school I was lucky to meet Scorpio and Pisces. We became so close and now I know I can't live without them.

My mom heard of this school and told my best friends parent so we got signed up and thankfully approved. Apparently it's one of the best schools in the whole nation. Cool huh?

"Cancer we're here." Pisces interrupts my thoughts as I hop off her car.

"That was quick." I whisper and Scorpio gives me this 'well nah sherlock' look I just laugh at.

"A lot of people are here, can you imagine new friends." Pisces squeals quietly to herself while jumping up and down. I'm not a big fan of making friends but I guess I do have to be more sociable.

"Imma go to the coffee shop, any one want anything." Pisces asks when she sees her favourite cafe screamimg her name, I just shake my head along with a Scorpio who also decides to leave to use the restroom.

"Hey." A deep voice grabbed my attention as I tilted my face a little to catch sight of an older dude.

"Hi." I give him a shyly smile to not be impolite.

"Why all alone?" He asks with a chuckle as he eyes me up and down that brought a look of disgust on my face.

"Im not my, friends will be back."

The tall guy is good-looking alright with his black hair covering his ocean blue eyes. His sharp jaw line is a catch to the eye, it was probably sharp enough to cut the silent tension between us. He seems two years or three older than me which means hes probably in college. Although he's a guy I could swoon over any other day, I just dont feel like talking to him.

"The names Max." He introduces himself with a cocky smirk directed at me.

"Cancer" I smile again just to be polite whick I know regret. Should've used a fake name but what are the possibilities we would ever cross paths again.

"Eighteen, in 12th grade....you?"

"Sixteen."

"You're a pretty little girl."

"Little girl?"

One thing I despised most is when people labeled me a little girl. It made me feel weaker than I truly was, but then again when am I ever bold?

"Yeah, you must be in 9th or 10th grade meaning you're legal but I'm not taking any chances." He chuckles lightly as he looks ready to depart.

"Not that I was interested."

"Too bad though, you seem like my type." Not responding to that, he rolls his eyes and finally leaves me alone as Scorpio and Pie make entrance.

"Princess lets go." Pie smiles holding a muffin and a latte in her hand as she moans when she takes a bite of it.

"That good?"

Scorpi💖: Cancer I need my headphones, I will have to go to your dorm if you don't respond?????

I laugh at the text, sure I will give them to you.

After unpacking and everything, I came to hang out with Pie in her dorm. It was a spectacular school so far and my roommate wasn't my favourite person so far but perhaps we would work it out soon.

"So Pi Netflix amd chill."

"You know it babe." She responds lazily.
