The worst part of moving into college was the emptiness after saying goodbye to family. Libra had just watched her family leave and shut the door after moving in her entire life into a 10x18 room.

Her new home.

It didn't feel very homely. In fact it felt quite the opposite. Bright white walls, the only light provided was a stark bright white that only lit half the room, each piece of furniture despite being covered in Libras belongings looked as if it was in a prison cell.

The fact she had a single room didn't make matters any better. Libra didn't choose to dorm alone, she had to for health reasons. Not only did she need a nicely climate controlled room but she also had several allergies that could put a stop to her dead in her tracks.

"It's so lonely here," she cried out as she flopped onto her bed, tears coming to her eyes.

She stopped herself. She was not about to have her first day at college be only sad. This was her first chance to start something new. Her first chance in 18 years to change everything about herself with no consequences.

Hopping out of bed she calmed herself down and listened to the sounds around her. There was commotion outside her dorm.

Quickly making sure her eyes weren't red, she walked out of her room and saw down the hall a group of people laughing.

"Just be normal," she whispered to herself trying to look like she just happened to hear everyone just now.

"Leo you can't say that kind of thing," a small blond girl said giggling as the guy who Libra presumed to be Leo was laughing insanely loud.

"Bro this dude is wilding! I swear to god man," another shorter guy was laughing too with them.

The girl, Virgo, noticed Libra and waved. "Hey, you live in the single right?"

Libra smiled glad to not need to insert herself into the conversation. "Yeah I do. I'm Libra. It's nice to meet you," she introduced herself trying to seem as friendly as possible.

"Sick hair do, I'm Aries," the short guy introduced himself.

Libra had left her hair in braids, which she had done every day for the last four years so it was weird to hear someone say something about it.

"And the idiot I live with is Leo," Aries continued, Leo waved happily.

The group ended up talking for awhile before Leo brought up the fact he had his game console with him.

The group ended up moving to the lounge area where they all played started to play games.

Libra had never touched a video game before this but she instantly fell in love.

"There is no way you've never played a video game before," Leo was saying, not looking at Libra as he was too busy looking at the screen.

"Even Virgo has played before," Aries added on.

"What's that supposed to mean," Virgo said only to be ignored.

"My parents sheltered me a lot I'm sorry okay. It's not my choice. If I would've known video games were this fun I would've played all day long," Libra defended herself.

As she was saying this someone had quietly slipped into the lounge and sat down behind the group without anyone noticing.

"Can I join the next round?" The person asked making everyone jump.

"Holy shit man don't sneak up on us like that," Aries was grasping his chest.

"Oh sorry, I thought you guys saw me come in," the boy said quietly. Everyone sat around waiting for him to introduce himself. He didn't.

Leo broke the silence, "Are you going to introduce yourself?"

The boy went bright red and started to stammer. "Oh, uh, yeah. Ha sorry the first day's been kinda wild. Uhm. My name is Scorpio. I live in the dorm right near the lounge," he pointed to a dorm that could just barely be seen from the lounge.

"My name is Libra, it's nice to meet you," Libra introduced herself, "You can take my controller next round."

It was nice to know someone else who was just as shy as she was. She felt empathy for the guy when he first came in. She knew the feeling of messing everything up on first introductions.

Everyone else followed suit and introduced themselves. It turned out Scorpio was better than everyone at every single game they played.

Hours had passed and someone finally noticed it was midnight. Everyone was packing up to leave as they were all tired.

"Oh my God," Libra said as everyone was just sitting down chilling, grabbing all of their attention, "I forgot my melatonin at home."

Among Libras many other health complications throughout life, insomnia was one of them.

Suddenly Scorpio looked with horror on his face, "Me too. Oh no."

Both of them then laughed at their stupidity as the others cleared out of the lounge. The two knew that they'd not be sleeping that night.

"So I guess we're both stuck awake tonight," Scorpio laughed nervously.

"Yeah I guess so. Honestly I don't feel like going back to my dorm either," Libra said. Scorpio nodded in agreement.

"What do we do though?" Scorpio asked.

Libra shrugged. "Talk I guess, oh I have a card deck. I'll grab that too," Libra got up and got the cards.

The two spent the next few sleepless hours of the night talking. Talking about highschool, college, their lives during each, insomnia, and anything else they could think of.

By the end of the night Libra couldn't stop thinking about how glad she was to have someone so similar to her. She had spent all of highschool trying to find someone, anyone, who she enjoyed being around even half as much as she enjoyed being around Scorpio right now.

Around 6am, when a few crazy early birds were getting up, Libra and Scorpio both agreed they were tired enough to sleep.

For the next several days, until either could get their meds, Libra and Scorpio had their nightly lounge routine.

The first night Libra had gone to bed at a regular time(2am) she felt something was off. She missed her nightly lounge talks with Scorpio.

The next morning she found him and told him instantly, she wasn't about to lose her favorite friend that easily.

And Scorpio agreed.

So two of them made an agreement to at least always text before going to bed.
