The night was Damien's favorite thing. It had everything he so enjoyed. Darkness, quietness and little beams of light and gas called stars. Yet on this night, he barely gave it a thought. He didn't spend his time gazing at the sky, wondering what it would be like to be star.

Instead, he fumbled down a sidewalk with a impatient step and a sullen face. His black robe was tatted with tiny drops of dust and blood.

His and Dresden's blood.

The day didn't start out like it would end in blood, then again, they never do. There had been a fight, horrid one between Dresden and himself. Even though Dresden got a few good hits in, Damien was proud not to have been taken down so easily.

If there was one thing Damien truly regretted now, it was not telling Dresden that his father was his cousin. Of course no one knew this. No bother to remember little Tobias and his older cousin. They were like twins back then, the pranksters of the town. Maryse was the one who tried to keep them in line but often just ended up joining in on the fun.

Maryse.

He needed a drink.

And for once, he didn't care who saw.

Fletcher's bar was nearly empty. The barstools neatly lined up and the music just loud enough not to be a bother. There was no light but the few red spotlights embedded in the ceiling. There was however, a drunk eight teen year old gesturing for him to join him.

He was dressed in black and-Damien blinked- it was the guy from daily doughnuts. Vladimir Night.

"Well, a priest just walked into bar." He smiled drunkenly. A few chuckles were heard from the remaining daily drunks watching them.

Damien took a seat on a corner chair away from the bar but still in hearing distance. A biker group eyed him curiously, Fletcher was still busy serving other people and barely glanced at him. He shook his head at Vlad's poor joke. Really, he gotta have Toby teach him a thing or two.

"You think I'm funny?" Toby peered out from a shady corner in his mind.

Damien made no reply. To reply would encourage him, and he wasn't about to make his cousin mistake. But he was tired, so tired of fighting.

"Are you giving up? Giving in?" Toby said with excitement.

"One night, and then tomorrow you leave me alone?" Damien knew this was a bad choice. But he had been fighting with Toby since Maryse vanished. Maybe he should done what his cousin had, just given in. Besides, this would be excellent way to see what Toby could do.

"I'll show you some fun, Tobias." Toby grinned instead of answering.

Slowly Damien teeth sharpened, his eyes widen and turned from their garden green into a neon green.

"Well the fool was already here, I thought I'd join." Toby said to Vlad with a sharp grin.

Vlad laughed with the laughter of a drunk person who laughed at any and every thing."As you would say, the devil's fool." He jested with a smashing smile.

Toby lifted his head and turned in to the side. He stared at Vlad with a sort of curious amusement. He could already see the monster inside him.

He got up and went over to Vlad. He grasped his shoulder and whispered in his ear."The only fool is God." He smiled carefully at him before slipping on the barstool next to him."What brings you Carsden? Visiting?"

Vlad smirked and took a swing of his drink."Finally, something we agree on." He glanced at Damien in bemusement."Nope, I live here." He explained drunkenly," I'm the Night's family's biggest fuck up." Vlad raised a glass.

Toby laughed,"I've never seen you." He cried out. Though it wouldn't be so much of a surprise if Damien was in control."Living under a rock, are we?"

Vlad laughed darkly,"Try an asylum."

An asylum hm? Toby could remember those days. When Damien had checked himself into a mental institution. He couldn't bare the lose of Maryse, he couldn't stand to even glance at his cousin anymore. The only blood he had. Somehow during this, Toby was born.

"We have more in common than I thought Mr Night." Toby replied, cocking his hand to the side to peer at Vlad curiously.

"Well we do hate God and have made deals with the devil." Vlad shrugged and took another drink."I knew I wasn't their kid. But damn, my real family full of drama."

"You have no idea Vladimir." Damien spoke from the depths of his mind.

Toby blinked. "You can-?"

"If you can when I'm in control I don't see why not."

Toby was shocked. Damien shouldn't be aware at all! This really fucked up his plans."Do I have to pray for a drink?is anyone even working here?" Toby asked snapped and mocked looking around the room."Your real family?"He asked,"Adopted were you?"

"Not exactly." Vlad answered as Fletcher came out of the back and took their drink orders before speedily handed them their fresh and iced alcohol."I'm abit surprised Latherna didn't say anything either."

Toby nodded before taking a sip."You know my dear Latte?" He barely hid a smirk, he couldn't wait to kill that brat. Yes, he couldn't wait to kill everyone Damien even remotely liked."I'm not surprised, she hardly talks to me anymore." He didn't have to fake the bitterness in his voice.

Vlad chuckled and his eyes suddenly flared a shimmering gold."I believe she is my sister." He began downing his next drink."I'm a son of a witch who can see and talk to the dead. Wanna know how many there are with us now?" He asked then laughed loudly.

"Tell me, do you seen dead people around me now?"He gave a serious look before it crumbled into humor."Sister Gwyneth has seen many following me."

Vlad laughed at Toby and said,"A few." He eyed Toby as if trying to see past him."They seem to glare at you, yet know not to come closer." He said than swiftly switched his language."Non enim fas est assholes?"

Toby blinked," Ah. You definitely have a powerful gift."He began to wonder how this would come into play later. It would seem Latherna family would be more of a pain than he expected.

"What about you, Podra. Anything to get off your chest?"

"Have you heard anything about Maggie?" It's best to always know what information others have before recounting your own.

"Yeah, I'm investigating. I should be out tonight, but I'm here instead."Vlad took another swing of alcohol and enjoyed the burning feeling in his throat for the few moments it lasted.

Toby nearly grinned. This would be fun."I saw her..." he put his actor face on and took a dramatic breath before staring intensely into his cup."Before she disappeared. I saw her at church."

Vlad gave him a sidelong look before he nodded."How was she acting that day?" He asked, in a tone of suspicion and curiosity.

"Indeed she told me.." He cut off dramatically,"I can't say, I'm sorry." He down looked to avoid eye contact. This was perfect, he looked just about the right kind of pathetic and sad. Toby nearly laughed.

"Told you what?" Vlad asked, interested."I'm drunk, I'll forget everything in the morning, Tobias." He joked, but Toby could see the curiosity burning at him.

He held back a grin.

A woman walked into the bar, the door squeaking quite loudly and alerting everyone to her presence.

Fletcher greeted her first. He looked up from a cup he was polishing and smiled."Hello."

A look of recognition flashed in her eyes before she smiled back."Hello Fletcher."

Toby finally finished his drink, damn that felt good."She saw the world in blood, dancing alongside the devil's hand. Playing with Fire and burning mad." Toby said,"I will say no more."

Who says I'm not a poet? Toby thought.

"Me." Damien whispered harshly.

"Don't ya mean us? We're forever, Tobias." He replied.

Vlad glanced at Eve with a wondering look on his face. Probably remembering her from daily doughnuts. He turned his focus back to Damien,"Sounds like paradise to me." He smiled insanely.

Toby grinned back and then gesture at Eve," Come sit..Genny?" He smirked into his cup.

"It's Eve," She replied, coming over and taking a seat."And thanks."

Fletcher walked over,"How are you doing tonight?" He asked, smiling."Can I get you something?"

But Toby was busy peering at Vlad again, was his inner demon showing already too?" Indeed, when the devil comes he will grant you good fortune."

"But at a price."Vlad said then glanced at Eve."Hey." He said with a soft voice he haven't use all night.

Toby smiled, she would be fun to annoy."Genny? Is that your name? You know our boy Darwin well?" This girl was meek, probably not worth bothering but Toby had no one else to bother but her."There is always a price, Vlad." As he would soon learn.

Vlad laughed again, something Toby thought he did alot when drunk."Everyone knows Darwin."He stated. He would be right, and everyone adored Darwin. It made Toby sick, he would have to do something about that bratty kid.

"People usually call me Eve." She twiddled with her thumbs."And yeah, I know Darwin. He let me borrow his bike. I still need to return it." She was timed and meek, just as he expected. Suddenly she looked around,"He's not here is he?"

"Nah, he's home." Vald replied downing another glass.

"I believe so." Toby nodded, where else would he be? Then Toby turned back to Eve. "Eve?" He repeated. Toby supposed it was a nice name. Best on a tombstone though.

"Yes, Eve." She answered with the same timid voice. Not the irritation Toby so desperately desired to hear in her voice at that moment.

"Don't tell me you're secretly a citizen here I haven't met too." He teased, grabbing a handful of nuts.

"Well I lived here for several years." She explained,"But I live alone and spend most of my time at community college."

Vlad phone buzzed and he checked as a grin slowly formed on his lips."Huh, speak of the - nevermind." He began texting away.

Toby glanced at his watch. Still time,"Tell me, Eve." He stared at her interested."Do you come to church?"

Eve shifted uncomfortably in her chair, and took a drink of her coke. "Well, not as often as I should..." she trailed off.

"Indeed child, no one comes as often as they should." Toby commented as Vlad phone kept buzzing with new messages."Say, do I know your family?" He peered at her closely.

"Don't you know everyone family Tobias?"Vlad smirked before looking back at his phone.

Toby shook his head, trying to appear friendly."I wish, God only granted me so much knowledge."

Eve shook her head."You shouldn't."she said, sounding kind of sad."I did have a sister that lived in Carsden for awhile, Adelaide, but we haven't talked I years." She took a sip of her drink.

"Adelaide? I've seen her."He had, through Damien's eyes of course but still. He was sure Adelaide was in town.

Eve jolted in her chair, a splash of coke dipping on her shirt."What!?" She exclaimed.

Another buzz from Vlad and finally Toby turned to him and asked,"Who are you texting? A girlfriend perhaps?" Toby smiled into his cup. Noticing Eve shirt he tsked,"Eve, dear, you must be more careful." Like he wasn't expecting her to react like that.

Vlad scoffed and said,"I'm single and if you must know, it's your soon to be alter boy Darwin."

"But I---Addy---how could you have seen her?"Eve was stunned.

Toby gave the look of someone who heard too much nonsense in his life."I see all." He replied to her ominously before looking at Vlad,"Darwin?" He asked, faking adoration."Do you have his number?" Toby thought that this may be useful later on.

Eve narrowed her eyes.

"Yeah?" Vlad said confused.

"Hmm, mind sharing it?" Toby asked with a innocence of a child."I need to ask him something." He added,"Very important."

"Uh,"Eve hesitantly cut in."are you sure you really want to do that, Vlad?" She asked, knowing Damien was up to something.

"Sure." Vlad said as he drunkenly wrote down Darwin number on a piece of tissue."Why not? He's just gonna send bible quotes like good podra."

Toby nodded,"Thank you sir." He said, adding the number to his phone immediately."You have done the Lord a great thing." He deleted Candy Crush, Damien's favorite game. Somewhere in the back of his head. Damien screamed, LEVEL 689! NOOOO-

Vlad visibly cringed."Can I get a refund on that favor?" He asked,"Or return it?"

But Toby was already sending Darwin a message.

Are you coming to church?

Toby chuckled down at his phone. Suddenly he heard Eve says something about him being a very creepy guy to Vlad who laughed back and agreed.

Toby stared at Eve. He wondered how beautiful her blood would glistening on the street, her throat hanging open and her tongue cut out. He tightened the hold on the danger beneath his robe.

"Relax Podra, she could have called you worse."Vlad said, trying to help but adding oil to Toby's fire.

Eve began to stutter,"Well i-"

Damien's phone goes off with the ringtone Jesus Take The Wheel."God Bless you, who is this?" Whoever it was had just stopped Toby from jumping over the table and-

"Ah, girlfriend calling you?" Vlad smirked, he heard the word God and sneezed,"Don't say that word Tobias." He stated, seriously.

Toby laughed,"My girlfriend is the Lord."He said,"No, it's Darwin I think." Toby could possibly kill that boy tonight, wouldn't that be fun?

He immediately felt a sharp pain in his head and held back a groan. No, damn Damien wouldn't allow it.

"FATHER DAMIEN HOW DARE YOU HOW COULD YOU WHY SHOULD YOU OFCOURSE YOU DID THIS OFCOURSE!" Darwin yelled at the top of his lungs and starts laughing. Toby winced and pulled the phone away from his ear.

Eve snickered obviously hearing Darwin.

Toby narrowed his eyes. They would regret this.

"Yep, that's Darwin for you."Vlad said fondly.

"Darwin, you know yelling has no effect on me."Toby said over the phone,"I raised Latte after all." He chuckled falsely."She was louder than the preachers."

"There are indeed small bits of comedy in this otherwise dark and pointless world." Eve mused thoughtfully.

"Now, are you coming to church?"Toby asked, he wondered if Darwin would notice the difference between him and Damien in his voice.

"You're old." Darwin drag out the word."Don't text me." He complained.

"Old? Do you even know my age?" Toby was offended.

Fletcher popped up from seemingly nowhere."Father! Could you please tell Darwin I'd like to talk him after work?" Fletcher asked.

"That's not foreshadowing at all."Vlad joked. The glass beside him getting emptier and emptier.

"No, but you definitely look old. I mean-"Darwin broke off in a fit of giggles.

Toby grinned mentally, he couldn't wait to tear the boy apart bit after bit. On the outside he sighed,"Darwin, Fletcher, Finn's lover that is, would like to talk to you after his work ends." He said dryly,"I'm not old Darwin." He added."just experienced."

Eve sighed.

"Hey!" Fletcher came out from behind the bar and over to the table again."He's my friend, not my lover."he laughed.

Vlad yawned, "Bored Eve?" He asked.

Toby looked at Fletcher,"God can see through lies, so can I."

Vlad shook at Toby,"Sure." He said sarcastically.

"Wait, DID VLAD GIVE YOU MY NUMBER?" Darwin yelled again and Toby winced.

"Maybe.."Replied Toby.

"No," Said Eve to Vlad, partly because she wasn't and partly because she was.

"Then you should know what the truth is," Fletcher replied with a smile.

Tony grinned back as Eve turned around to face Fletcher.

"I see the truth alright." Toby smirked just as another loud cry came from Darwin.

"The truth," Eve said sarcastically. She was mocking thing wasn't she? Hm, interesting. Maybe not so meek.

"Hm, that's like saying Podra and I are friends." Vlad answered Eve then took another drink.

"Alright. It's past your bedtime." Toby said at he was about to end the call, a cry of 'but' came from Dariwn just as he said."Night!" And the call ended.

Vlad picked up his phone an quickly sent a message.

Fletcher shook his head, holding his hands up."Alright, okay, believe what you like, but we're not dating." He pulled up a seat and sat backwards on it, leaning his arms on the back of the chair."I don't think there's many people planning on coming in tonight." He mused.

"So now that I can't see straight."Vlad said as he built a sort of pyramid with his empty cups."I think I'll have another drink."

"Vlad, son. I think you should stop before we have to pick you off the floor."Toby said, not really caring.

"Same again?"Fletcher leaned back a bit to stand up.

"Will you ask Darwin when can I drop his bike off?"Eve asked Fletcher.

"Sure, I'll ask him while I'm up." He nodded in response to Eve before looking at Vlad,'What do you want to drink?"

"Same as before." And Toby was surprised his words weren't slurred. Vlad could definitely handle his alcohol.

"I'll take a whiskey neat." Toby said after noticing his empty cup. He looked at Vlad,"Such foolishness." He shook his head.

"Come now podra, you know you were once young and foolish too."Vlad pointed out drunkenly.

...

Toby tried to cool his rage.

He couldn't kill anyone, not yet."Once?"

Eve spotted Vlad creation of glasses."Perhaps your next pyramid should be of Coke Cans." She said,"Then we won't have to stop you from climbing on the walls."

"I agree there father, I'll bring a water as well."Fletcher mused after looking at Vlad, then headed away to get the drinks.

Toby was still caught up on one thing though,"How old do you think I am?" Not really sure he wanted the answer.

"Meh, I'd say fifty maybe forty five or forty seven." Vlad answered.

Toby smile became fixated,"Something like that." The bump on his neck throbbed, very soon now. He and Damien would be equals.

"Am I right?" Vlad peered at him.

"It's 47."He said as Fletcher came back with a tray and four glasses upon it. He handed the water and rum to Vlad, a whiskey to Toby. He took the final glass himself and placed it in front of him.

Toby downed his drink at once, wondering if Fletcher was ever gonna ask them to pay.

"Oi Fletcher, I think you misheard me."Vlad said as he looked down at the water in confusion.

Toby gave Fletcher a nod of approval.

"I think I heard you right."Fletcher teased, pointing to glasses."That's a rum like before, and this is a water for after, otherwise I'll be carrying you back home."

"I think I'll walk, after these ghosts back up abit." Vlad mused, confusing both Eve and Fletcher.

"I'll walk with you, I live that way anyways."Fletcher offered but Toby had other plans.

"Why don't I take you home, hm?" Toby eyed Vlad, he looked like he was about to pass out. Perfect.

Vlad laughed them off,"I'll be fine."

Eve looked down at her watch."I think I need to go too."she said,"my shift at 7-11 starts in ten minutes."

"Of course you will," Toby said to Vlad,"We will just make sure you will."He turned to Eve,"Eve have a nice night." I'll get you next time, he thought as she began to gather her things.

Vlad stood but took a moment to balance himself out."Make sure what?" He asked confused.

Toby shook his head as Eve thanked him.

"Make sure you make it home safe."Fletcher said,"You've drank quite a bit."

Toby stood too,"I'm taking you home." Not caring who was speaking with, he wanted prey, he wanted to kill.

"Cya, hope you have a good shift."Fletcher waved at Eve, Vlad also waved but he winked too.

Ah, interesting.

"Hey, if you want I'll walk with you."Vlad offered, slyly.

Eve stopped one her way to the door and turned to him."Sure I guess."She said.

Fletcher looked at all the empty glasses on the table, he picked them up on a tray took them to the bar.

Vald joined Eve as they walked out.

Toby sighed and tried to hide his rage. Both of his prey were gone. He walked out on the empty streets, briefly considering following them both but deciding that would be too risky.

He stared up at the sky. It was a beautiful night, the stars shone with surprisingly bright light. He could almost hear a melody.

With a grin, he began to dance.

Then he saw her.

He stopped.

"Mother?"
