"I should probably tell you this is my first time drinking alcohol." Demetri grumbled as Fleur basically carried him back to his house. After the pair ran, he fell not even half way to his house and started talking out of his head.

"I noticed." Fleur spoke back, adjusting Demetri again so he'd lay on her more, "Demetri, you are ridiculously tall, dude."

"Are youuuu flirting?" he giggled, tapping her on the nose.

"No, i'm struggling." Fleur said back, huffing and bending down so he'd climb up on her back. Fleur huffed as she managed to get him up and back to his house. The lights were off, indicating his mom had gone to sleep, "You've gotta be dead silent unless you want us to get caught."

"Silent as a m-" Demetri began before he turned and puked into the bushes. Fleur cringed as she patted his back, her eyes looking back toward the house to see if they were heard. Instead, her eyes set on a piece of paper tapped on the door.

"Stay here." Fleur spoke to Demetri with a pat to his back. She walked up to the door, breathing heavy and yanking the paper off. It was a odd shade of white and in red words I'm Watching was writing off centered. Fleur looked around alarmed, looking for anything or anyone. All she got was Demetri and his obnoxious puking noises.

Fleur hurried back his way, the dark of night taunting her, "Come on, let's go inside."

"Fleur, i'm dying." Demetri cried as Fleur shhed him, digging into his front pocket, "Oh!"

"Shhh, be quiet." Fleur scolded him once more, pulling his keys out and unlocking the door. Fleur had been to Demetris house a good number of times, indicating she could maneuver down the hall without light. Demetri, surprisingly, stayed quiet the whole way until they met his room. Fleur dropped Demetri on his bed as he groaned into the pillow and rolled over, "I'm gonna go."

"You can sleep on Eli's Waterbed." Demetri joked as Flaur cracked a grin, walking into his bathroom and wetting a wash cloth, "Alcohol is not worth it."

"It always hits pretty hard the first time." Fleur spoke, sitting down and whipping his mouth, "Can I ask you something?"

"My mind is like-" Demetri began but he cut himself off, raising his hands in a straight line and then curving it to the side, "right now, but go ahead."

"If I had a dim for every time I thought that about you, i'd go to Santa Monica for the weekend." Fleur placed her hand on his face as his eyes barely opened, the moon from the window enough to see each other, "Have you noticed anyone different lately?"

"Well, this is California and no one is the same, everyone is-" Demetri began to elaborate before Fleur cut him off.

"No, like someone who's been lurking. Like, you feel like they were watching you maybe." Fleur tried to sound subtle but was panicked, attempting to conceal it as well as she could. Demetri stared up at her as the wash cloth traced his pale face.

"I don't think so." he shook his head as Fleur nodded, "I thought a car was following me yesterday but they took a turn."

Fleur stared a moment before she sighed loudly, leaning down and kissing his head.

"Woah." Demetri laughed as he reddened, "You are flirting, I called it."

"I'm not flirting. I'm just glad you're okay, sorta." Fleur spoke with a small laugh, "Aside from the horror alcohol has."

"Why wouldn't I be okay?" Demetri asked as he kicked his shoes off, hoping she's been honest with him, "Fleur?"

Fleur stood up, kicking her own shoes off and laying down next to him. Demetri hummed as their arms pressed together, both looking at the ceiling, "You know you're, like, the best person i've ever known."

"Have you known a lot of people?" he asked her as Fleur shook her head, "I have."

"Really?" Fleur went on, looking at the stars on his ceiling.

"Yeah." the lanky boy said back, "You're still the best person i've ever known too though."

Fleur smiled up at the ceiling, reaching her hand over and lacing their fingers.

"Fleur?" Demetri mumbled as he started to drift off. She hummed, waiting for him to fall asleep, "Why do you lie to me about things?"

Fleur rolled over on her side, staring at the barely awake boy as his breathing got a bit heavier. Fleur waited a moment, waiting until she knew he was asleep, "To protect you."

Demetri didn't say anything back, already off in a deep sleep as he breathed deeply. Fleur sat up, giving him a kiss on the forehead before getting up, "Everything I do is to protect you."

And then she left.

When Demetri woke up the next morning, he was immediately met with a horrible headache and nausea. He recalled everything that happened the night before, realizing today was the first day of school, "Fleur."

He got no answered, rolling over and hitting the alarm clock, "Fleur."

Still, no answer.

Demetri rose, walking into the bathroom and checking to see if she was there. When he was met with nothing, he headed into the living room, then the kitchen, then the other bathroom.

"Fleur!" Demetri called out again, looking anywhere for a note to at least say she went home. But she couldn't, not when she was across town and without her board, "Fleur! Are you out here?"

When Demetri walked outside, he scanned his backyard for any sight of her. She didn't seem to be out here, no familiar blonde hair or laughter. Demetris eyes set on the water footprints, leading from the pool. His mind went to the worst, hurrying over and expecting to see her.

Thankfully, she hadn't been there.

Demetri huffed, looking around once more before his eyes focused in on a red bag at the bottom of his pool. It was ziplock bag, with a red note inside. Demetri swam under to grab it quickly, hurrying back up and throwing his, now wet hair, out of the way. He made it to the side of the pool, unzipping the plastic bag and pulling out the red sticking note with Fleurs hand writing.
