CHAPTER FOUR—
if we had a baby...

"Blake, enough." Xavier complained as they finally got back to the dorms after she floated with him the entire run. "No points were proven."

"Ever point was proven!" she argued with him, following him into the room after he held the door open for her, despite easily being able to pass right through it. "If Ajax and you have a baby-"

"Which is still impossible, might I add." Xavier pointed out, walking to the bathroom and shutting the door as Blake passed right through it.

"The baby would obviously be half stoner, right?" Blake agreed, Xavier twirled his finger to encourage her to turn her back. "So, only half their head with be snakes, meaning they'd only stone half the body."

"Whatever you say." he huffed, turning the shower on. "Do not turn around!"

"But, if me and you had a baby-" Blake stared.

"Oh my god." Xavier complained in the process of loosing his clothes. "Once again, impossible."

"That would probably make our baby half ghost, so only one of their little hands would be able to grab stuff." Blake thought ridiculously hard on the matter as her eyebrows knitted together. "It could maybe be possible."

"It can't be possible." he disagreed with her, Blake heard the shower curtain shut so she was able to turn back around and take a seat on the floor.

"How do you know? Have you researched if ghost can have babies with alive people?" she rose her eyebrows as she stared at the curtain. "Wanna try it?"

"Blake!" he scolded her.

"What?" she argued with him. "We could make the first ghost/human baby."

She could heard Xavier huff from inside of the shower. "Wouldn't work."

"Fine, ruin my great idea." Blake rolled her eyes. "I'll die a virgin."

He went quiet and waiting to hear her laughing, rolling his eyes as she laughed loudly. "Get it? Because-"

"Got it." he cut her off but grinned considering she wasn't able to see. "Thanks for the offer though."

"Oh, anytime. Still stands." Blake nodded her head, standing up to turn her back when the shower cut off. "Not looking."

"What made you think about babies anyways? You've never liked babies." it was easier to hear him now, Blake keeping her back turned.

"Don't know, I guess it never crossed my mind that most of us will make hybrid babies if we all end up together." Blake shrugged her shoulders. "If I had a baby, if it was possible, would they be half ghost or would they be half human instead?"

Unlike Xavier, Rowan, Bianca, Enid, Ajax, and Principal Weems, Blake never had anything special about her. She was just weird and outcasted, not for any certain reason, she just was. The only reason she got into Nevermore was because Xavier's Dad knew her Moms so well, not wanting to separate Xavier and Blake. Perhaps the universe always knew she'd end up a ghost, putting her at Nevermore ahead of times to prepare.

"Probably half ghost." he hummed. "Maybe ghost and other ghost can have babies."

"Maybe." Blake shrugged. "Egh, not tempting."

"But having a baby with me is?" he laughed loudly, grabbing the door knob to pull it open, letting her know she could follow now. "I'm very flattered, Blake."

"You should be, I wouldn't give it to just an-" Blake started, stopping as her and Xavier both froze at the sight of Bianca with her eyebrows raised at the pair.

"I'm not even gonna ask." Bianca shook her head. "Definitely not gonna ask what was going on in there either."

"Couldn't even explain it if you did ask." Xavier exhaled in pure stress.

"I'll skedadle." Blake pointed to the door. "Give the two of you time to talk, and forget everything I just said. For....personal reasons."

"Consider it forgotten." Bianca promised.

"Don't think i'm able to forget that." Xavier watched her go, passing through the wall before facing Bianca with an exhale.

"Hi, Wednesday." Blake walked toward Enid and Wednesday the next morning as everyone prepared for the race. "Hi, Enid."

"Blake!" Enid greeted her with an air kiss that Blake returned. "Are you doing the honors?"

Wednesday pushed her hand through Blake's face again. "Yes, but I wanted to give you a small tip. Can't tell though, i'll get called a rat."

"Whiskers and lips are sealed." Enid promised, leaning in close as Blake looked around to make sure Xavier or Ajax weren't watching her.

Sadly, they had been.

"Blake!" Xavier yelled at her. "I can see you!"

"Damn it." she huffed. "Sorry, girls. I tried."

Wednesday rose her eyebrows at Blake. "Have you seen your dead body?"

"Oh." Enid smiled.

"What?" Blake blinked at her.

"Your body. The dead one." she stared at her emotionlessly. "Have you seen it?"

Blake was slightly uncomfortable, shifting just a tad. "Once?"

"Where?" Wednesday asked. "I'd like to see it."

"Oh, look. The race." Enid cut in to change the subject. "Blake? I think that's your que."

"Oh." she looked back, hesitating like she was gonna say something to Wednesday before just walking off instead.

"Where you about to tell Enid a cheat code?" Xavier shook his head at Blake as she headed back over, noticing the look on her face. "What's the matter?"

"Do you think my body is gone completely?" shockingly, it never crossed Blake's mind until right now as her eyes filled with panic. "Like, i'm just a bunch of bones?"

"What?" he gave her a weird look. "Why-what are you saying?"

"My body, my real one." she huffed as she explain to him more. "It's probably not actually still there now, right? We have to go see."

"Are you insane? I'm not pulling out your dead body." Xavier usually gave in to whatever Blake wanted, but there was no way he was reliving the sight of how she looked dead. "No, just forget about it. You're here, that's all that matters."

That's how he got through it, telling himself she was still here in spirit at least. But, for Blake, it was more then that.

"Blake? Are you ready?" Principal Weems walked her way with a nod. Blake frowned, her head sinking low as she walked to the edge of the peer, the boats lined up behind it. When everyone was secure and prepared, Blake rose her arms high in the sky and dropped then down dramatically as the blow horn echoed, the boats floating past her entirely while Blake stayed at the peer to watch.

Blake usually stuck around to congratulate the winning team, but she had something completely different in mind. But, the first thing she'd need is a pair of human hands.

Or, better said, hand.

"Thank you, Thing." Blake thanked Wednesdays friend as she lead him, walking into the mausoleum where only her body had been. It was built years ago but she'd been the first to be there, Blake stared at her name engraved in the wall. She looked down at Thing at her feet. "Okay, just pull this one open and then get the casket open. Think you can?"

He signed back to her, indicating he could.

Blake backed away as she watched Thing get to work. He pulled the handle and the casket laid before them, using his fingers to flip the latches and push the rest.

Blake looked the exact same as she did the night she died.

"What?" Blake's face fell as she stared. "I don't understand?"

Thing signed at her as Blake nodded. "Exactly. Any body should at least be some what decomposed. I look....perfect."

She looked more healthy in her casket then she had before even, something wasn't right.

Thing began to roll on the floor to get Blake's attention, pointing toward the door. Blake then noticed there'd been something left on the ground, hurrying over and staring down at the button on the ground. A single button, perhaps popped off from a jacket or even a shirt. "Grab that for me, Thing. We have some investigating to do."

"Blake!" Xavier's voice echoed from outside, making her panic. Thing hurried to clamp the casket back, shutting her back into the wall as he quickly hid while Blake walked through the wall to hide outside. Xavier opened the door, thinking this had been the place she ran off too, only finding it empty as he retreated back outside as quickly as he could.
