MAYBE I SHOULD START FROM THE END
part one

THE BLONDE SQUIRMED AROUND as the Mikaelson girl held a strong grip upon her arms while they snuck through the school. Hope had entered Guinevere's room, waking her from the deep sleep she was in.

The brunette had thrown a few random items of clothing towards the Elison girl before dragging her through the school once they girl had gotten dressed.

As they entered the common room, both girls noticed two boys asleep in the chairs surrounded the fireplace, books opened on their laps. They snuck past them before coming up to Dr. Saltzman's office.

The pair opened the door before hope moved forward to the desk and retrieved the keys from one of the drawers. They then made their way to the front door, all the while Guinevere still not sure what was happening.

"Going somewhere?" A voice called out from behind them, causing both girls to gasp and jump slightly. The brunette and blonde turned on the spot to see Dr. Saltzman standing there, dressed in his robe with the school crest embroidered onto it.

"Better questions, where the hell do you think you're going with my keys and without telling me?" The Saltzman man continued questioned, a tone of both suspicion and accusation in his voice as he spoke.

Hope quickly spoke up, while Guinevere stood with her mouth gaped open, not knowing what to say. "Um, you know, I just said some really harsh things to you yesterday, and so I just wanted to get you an oil change as a peace offering."

Alaric scoffed out a laugh. "At three am? Hope, you don't have a driver's license. You were gonna commit grand theft auto, which is a felony. You're ditching school right before the midterm exams begin, you're taking Guinevere along who clearly had no clue what is going on, and you've made it very clear to me that you see me as an authority figure and nothing more."

Dr. Saltzman continued. "So tell me, why shouldn't I suspend you this very second?"

In response, the Mikaelson girl lifted up her sleeve to reveal a bracelet that glowed a bright blue. The blonde looked at it in both interest and continued confusion.

"And what is that?" Dr. Saltzman inquired.

Hope pulled her sleeve back down before sighing. "It's basically a supernatural compass."

"Well, I hope it's pointing you to your room because that's where you're going."

"I'm going after Landon." Hope retaliated. "If this thing is glowing, that means that he's in trouble."

The Saltzman man deeply sighed. "Then we're going, and I'm driving."

"Cool, road trip." Guinevere spoke up for the first time since she had been rudely wakened.

As the trio passed a sign that indicated they had just entered the State of Indiana, Dr. Saltzman began speaking a singsong kind of tune. "Indiana. I Crossroads of America. What's the capital?"

"We learned that in, like, eighth grade." The Mikaelson girl replied while turning her head from the window to face the man driving.

"Oh, good, then you should know it."

"I didn't say I absorbed the information." Hope quickly retaliated sarcastically.

"Indianapolis." Guinevere spoke up from the backseat of the car, not lifting her eyes up from the book she held in her hands.

"Thank you, Guinevere. And Hope, you're not saying much of anything."

The man then sighed. "Look, if you can't handle grade school geography you're gonna flunk all your exams."

The brunette looked at the Saltzman man. "Are Lizzie and Josie studying? Maybe you should focus on them."

At the mention of both her girlfriend and her twin sister, the blondes head shot up from the book to look at the pair who sat in the front.

"Yeah, well, they're still in Europe with Caroline, thank God." Alaric said sighing out his words.

"Religion has no place in the classroom, Dr. Saltzman.
The Supreme Court made sure of that with its ruling on Engel v. Vitale. And I knew that Indianapolis was the capital of Indiana. I'm getting an "A" in geography. Chill." The Mikaelson girl listed off.

Suddenly her bracelet began to move causing her to look at it intensely. "Take the next left. He's on the move."

"All right." Dr. Saltzman spoke before looking at Guinevere through the mirror and then looking at Hope. "Indiana is surrounded by what four states?"

"I thought we just established that I am dominating geography." Hope rolled her eyes while she spoke.

"Fine. Then let's move on to science."

"Never mind science, Dr. Saltzman. How is Josie?" Guinevere asked as she moved forward in her seat before realising her mistake. "And Lizzie, of course."

"And that is how osmosis works." Dr. Saltzman said to the girls as they pulled up out a house in Lawrence, Kansas.

"Fascinating." The blonde mumbled from the back as Hope made a noise of disinterest.

"Is this the place?" Alaric asked while turning his head to look at the home.

"Yup." The Mikaelson girl agreed as she too looked at the house. "And not a moment too soon. Pretty sure you were about to tell me how babies are made."

As Hope began to open her car door, she was stopped by Alaric speaking. "Hey, before we go in there, I just want to make sure we're clear."

"Don't worry, we're crystal. You're Professor X, I'm Wolverine." The brunette replied back before again moving to open her door only to be stopped once more by Alaric speaking.

"I was more of a DC kid." The Saltzman man spoke.

"Then you're Batman and I'm Robin. Either way, you call the shots."

"I'm Catwoman." Guinevere spoke up from the back, wanting to be included.

The Mikaelson girl nodded her head in agreement with the blondes statement. "So how do you want to do this, hmm? Fireball? Wind torrent?"

"I was thinking we'd knock." Alaric responded while the Elison girl nodded her head.

"They'll never see that coming." Hope replied, her voice filled with snark as they all began to exit the car.

The trio moved up to the front door, Dr. Saltzman quickly looking through the windows to check for anyone indoors.

"We should come in hot. There could be a Jabberwocky on the other side of that door, for all we know."

"Hope, I doubt that the Red Queen is behind that door." Guinevere said to the brunette as she stood by the stairs leading up to the front door.

"Nonsensical poem written by?" The Saltzman man inquired as he peeked through the window.

"Charles Dodgson." Hope smugly replied to the man.

"Wrong. Lewis Carroll."

The Mikaelson girl chuckled. "The pen name of Charles Dodgson. I'm crushing English, too."

Suddenly they all heard screaming from inside the house causing Hope to quickly act, yelling out an incantation to make the door fly off its hinges.

The girl stormed into the house, leaving Guinevere and Alaric outside.

After a few seconds, the pair heard the girl speak.
"Hi. Uh, what are you watching?"

Both the Elison girl and Dr. Saltzman entered the house to see Hope standing in front of two elderly people, with food on trays in front of them. The blondes eyes widened exponentially at the situation.

Alaric stammered out a sentence, his voice raised slightly. "I'm so sorry that we've ruined your lunch. I-I promise we're gonna replace your door."

He then turned to Hope and whispered at her. "That's some compass. We're in the wrong place."

The Mikaelson girl glanced at her bracelet before falling to the ground to look at the letter box on the door. After a few seconds, the brunette pulled out the bracelet that Landon used to wear.

"Someone knew we were coming." She said as she rose from the ground holding up the bracelet before exiting the home. Both Guinevere and Alaric looked at the elderly couple awkwardly before leaving themselves.
