You, Hermione, and Harry followed some blood trails until the three of you found a door leading up. You scrunched your nose for a bit. "This is just like the horror movies I have watched." The three of you entered a room. "We're in the Shrieking Shack, aren't we?" Hermione asked.

You looked around and nodded to see the wooden walls with scratch marks and broken windows and furniture. You glanced into a broken mirror and flinched when Harry tapped your shoulder. "Come on," Harry whispered.

The three of you walked up the stairs and saw Ron holding Scabbers with a wounded leg beside Draco who was sitting with him, protecting Ron.

"Ron!" Harry yelled running towards Ron and Draco.

You quickly went beside Draco and Hermione smiled at Ron. "Ron, you're okay!"

"Where's the dog?" You asked Draco and Ron.

"It's a trap!" Draco exclaimed.

"And he's a dog, he's an Animagus!" Ron added, pointing somewhere.

You, Harry, and Hermione looked down at paw prints, which showed the three of you looking at Sirius Black. Sirius Black closed the door and stepped forward.

Hermione walked beside Ron, protecting him while you stepped in front of Harry. "If you're going to kill Harry, you'll have to kill us, too!"

Sirius Black shook his head. "No, only one will die tonight."

Harry gently pushed you aside and pulled out his wand. "Then it'll be you!"

Draco stood up pulled you into his arms. His arms wrapped around your waist and he leaned into your ears. "Not our fight. No need to intervene, love. I don't want you to die." He whispered.

You watched as Harry wrap his hands around Sirius' neck and then pinned him down to the floor. He pointed his wand at Sirius and Sirius started laughing. "Are you going to kill me, Harry?"

Suddenly, Lupin barged into the room. "Expelliarmus!" Harry was suddenly wandless and Lupin was pointing his wand at Harry. Lupin gestured Harry to let Sirius go. Harry hesitated but stood up and went beside you and Draco.

"Well, well, Sirius. Looking rather ragged, aren't we?" Professor Lupin pointed his wand at Sirius. "Finally, the flesh reflects the madness within," Lupin commented on Sirius' ragged looks.

"Well, you'd know all about the madness within, wouldn't you Remus?" Sirius asked.

Lupin smirked and lowered his wand. He helped Sirius to get up and they shared a hug. Hermione stepped forward in disbelief.

"I found him," Sirius whispered.

"I know," Lupin whispered back.

"It's him."

"I understand."

"Let's kill him!"

Hermione walked forward. "No!" She yelled causing Sirius and Lupin to look at her. "I trusted you! And all this time, you've been his friend?"

"He's a werewolf!" You declared, pointing at Lupin, finally getting away from Draco's arms. "That's why he's skipping classes."

"How long have you two known?" Lupin asked, stepping forward to you and Hermione.

"Since Professor Snape set the essay," Hermione answered.

"Since I saw your boggart." You answered as well. "You have no idea how long I have been thinking about the moon being your boggart. And it all made sense as soon as Professor Snape suddenly taught us about werewolves and Animagus."

You and Hermione shared a look and gave your attention back to Lupin. "Well, you two truly are the brightest witches of your age I've ever met." Lupin praised.

You shook your head and shrugged. "Just Hermione. Not me."

"Enough talk, Remus!" Sirius yelled, getting impatient. "C'mon, let's kill him!"

Lupin looked at him. "Wait--!"

"I did my waiting!" Sirius interrupted. "Twelve years of it! In Azkaban!"

Lupin was silent. He looked at Sirius then at you and your friends. He sighed and gave Sirius his wand. "Very well, kill him." Sirius took it but Lupin held his finger up. "But wait one more minute. Harry has the right to know why."

"I know why!" Harry stepped forward and walked towards them. "You betrayed my parents! You're the reason they're dead!"

Lupin turned to Harry and shook his head. "No, Harry, it wasn't him! Somebody did betray your parents, but it was somebody who, until quite recently, I believed to be dead."

Draco furrowed his eyebrows and slowly grabbed your hand, slowly pulling you towards him. Harry continued to glare at Lupin and Sirius. "Who was it then?"

"Peter Pettigrew!" Sirius answered. "And he's in this room, right now! Come out, come out, Peter! Come out and play!"

Suddenly, Snape came. "Expelliarmus!" Lupin's wand flew away from Sirius' hand. "Ah, vengeance is sweet. How I hoped I'd be the one to catch you."

"Severus--"

Lupin was interrupted when Snape pointed his wand at him causing him to back away. "I told Dumbledore you were helping an old friend enter the castle and now here's the proof."

Sirius walked towards Snape. "Brilliant, Snape, once again you've put your keen and penetrating mind to the task and as usual come to the wrong conclusion. Now if you'll excuse us, Remus and I have some unfinished business to attend to."

When Sirius was close enough, Snape raised his wand at him. "Give me a reason. I beg you."

"Severus, don't be a fool..." Lupin, who's behind Sirius, told Snape, crossing his arms, shaking his head.

Sirius chuckled. "He can't help it. It's a habit by now."

"Sirius, be quiet!" Lupin yelled.

"Be quiet yourself, Remus!" Sirius yelled back causing Lupin to raise his hands, giving up and walking away.

Snape scoffed. "Listen to you two, quarreling like an old married couple."

"Why don't you run along and play with your chemistry set?" Sirius mocked.

Snape puts his wand to Sirius' throat. "I could do it, you know. But why deny the Dementors? They're so longing to see you."

Sirius trembled, his eyes were suddenly full of fear. He was walking away but Snape was walking forward to him.

"Do I detect a flicker of fear?" Snape asked, smirking. "Ah, yes. The Dementor's Kiss. One can only imagine what that must be like to endure. It's said to be nearly unbearable to witness, but I'll do my best."

You glanced down and saw Harry's hand getting Hermione's wand from her pocket. Ron grabbed Hermione's sleeve of her jacket, pulling her towards him.

"Severus, please." Lupin pleaded and sighed.

Snape pointed the door with his wand, still not taking his eyes off Sirius. "After you." Snape turned to you and your friends and gesturing for you to get out first.

Harry stepped out and pointed Hermione's wand at Sirius. In all of a sudden, Harry pointed the wand at Snape. "Expelliarmus!"

Instead of the wand flying away, Snape was tossed to the damaged bed. You gasped along with Hermione while Ron and Draco widened their eyes.

"What did you just do, Harry?" Ron asked, completely shocked.

"You just attacked a teacher!" Hermione exclaimed.

You gave a look towards Hermione while Harry ignored them and focused on Lupin ans Sirius. "Tell me about Pettigrew!"

"He was at school with us, we thought he was our friend," Lupin replied.

Harry shook his head as he points the wand at Lupin. "No, Pettigrew's dead." He then pointed the wand at Sirius. "You killed him."

Lupin jumped in front of Sirius, protecting him. "No, he didn't! I thought so too until you mentioned seeing Pettigrew on the map."

Harry furrowed his eyebrows. "The map was lying, then."

Sirius scoffed. "The map never lies! Pettigrew's alive." Sirius looked at us and pointed Ron. "And there he is!"

"Me?" Ron gasped. "He's mental!"

Sirius shook his head, starting to feel annoyed. "Not you! Your rat!"

Ron looked at his rat. "Scabbers has been in my family for..."

"Twelve years!" Sirius interrupted, exclaiming. "Curiously long life for a common garden rat!"

Ron looked back at Sirius. "So what?"

"Ron, the lifespan of a rat as a pet is just 2-3 years." You informed.

"He's missing a toe, isn't he?" Sirius asked.

"And?" Ron asked back.

"I heard about what happened to Pettigrew." Your eyes widened, starting to realize everything. "All they could find left of Pettigrew was his..."

"Finger!" Sirius finished your sentence. "But then the dirty coward cut it off so everyone would think he was dead! And then he transformed into a rat!"

Draco looked at you confusingly. "How did you know about that?"

"My dad told me about Peter Pettigrew." You explained, looking at the rat. "I mean, most of the people in the wizarding world knows about Pettigrew."

"Show me," Harry spoke. Sirius tried to take the rat from Ron but Ron held the rat. "Give it to him, Ron," Harry demanded.

Ron tried to protect his rat. "What are you trying to do to him?"

Sirius finally got a hold of the rat.

Ron widened his eyes. "Scabbers! Leave him alone!" He tried to run towards Sirius but Hermione held Ron back. "Get off him! What are you doing?"

Lupin picked up his wand and pointed it at the rat. When Sirius dropped the rat, it ran away. Lupin and Sirius started chasing it and together, they finally transformed it into its human form. Peter Pettigrew.

Peter Pettigrew looked around and realized he was not a rat anymore. Ron's eyes widened in realization and surprise. "Remus? S-Sirius? My old friends!" He ran towards the door, but Lupin and Sirius blocked him, push him away.

Peter Pettigrew turned to Harry. "Harry, l-look at you!" He walked towards Harry. "You look so much like your father! Like James, we were best friends!"

You pulled Harry away from Pettigrew as Sirius pointed his wand at the rat-looking man. "How dare you speak to Harry!" Pettigrew scowled and ran away from Sirius. "How dare you talk about James in front of him!"

"You sold James and Lily to Voldemort, didn't you?" Lupin asked, pointing his wand at his old friend.

Pettigrew whimpered. "I didn't mean to! The Dark Lord. You have no idea the weapons he possesses!" He turned to Sirius. "Ask yourself, Sirius! What would you have done? What would you have done?"

"I would have died!" Sirius exclaimed as Pettigrew crawled under the piano. "I would have died rather than betray my friends!"

Pettigrew bolted to the door but Harry pulled away from your grasp and blocked Pettigrew's way. "Harry, James wouldn't have wanted me killed! Your dad... your dad would have spared me! He would have shown me mercy...!" He whispered but screaming at the end of his sentence when Lupin and Sirius yanked him off from Harry.

"You should have realized, Peter, that if Voldemort wouldn't kill you we would!" Sirius and Lupin looked at each other when they pointed their wands at Pettigrew. "Together!"

Harry shook his head. "No!"

Lupin sighed and looked at Harry. "Harry, this man is..."

"I know what he is, but we'll take him to the castle." Harry interrupted as he walked towards them.

Peter Pettigrew started to kneel. "Bless you boy, bless you!" He crawled to Harry and was about to grab his feet.

Harry stepped away. "Get off me!" He exclaimed. "I said we'll take you to the castle. After that, the Dementors can have you."

Pettigrew whimpered and cowered in fear as he looked at everyone for help.
