Β  Β  Β Β  Denied attendance at the tournament, Marisol discovered that Cobra Kai had won. In response, she promptly texted Sam the news.

To Sam: what if is this about Cobra Kai winning!?

From Sam: I know! I am so pissed. I saw half of the match and Miguel threatened Robby! He said he was gonna hurt Robby which he did, but Hawk started it after Robby said something to him about you! Then Miguel made it worse and won!

To Sam: what the fuck!?

From Sam: I know! Ugh. Hawk and Miguel are on my last freaking nervesπŸ˜’

To Sam: ugh me too. hawk will not stop texting me and trying to get me back as if its not obvious that we're back together!?

From Sam: Thats annoying.. I wish we could tell them off.

To Sam: yeah, but it would make things a lot worse. i just don't think i'm too worried about hawk rn.. i just feel like i keep seeing sophie everywhere! i feel like i'm crazy.

From Sam: I get it, your meds are off balance like the doctor said.

To Sam: yeah, i hate being a schizophrenic.

From Sam: I mean, at least its not too bad like other people? You just sometimes see dead people and shadows? And you'll see the therapist in an hour?

To Sam: yeah, well, ill talk to you later.

From Sam: Ok! Ttyl.

Marisol let out a heavy sigh, frustration evident in her posture as she threw her head back onto the pillow. The persistent apparitions of Sophie haunted her, becoming a burden she couldn't escape. A year after Sophie's passing, the visions started, culminating in a distressing meltdown at school. Amidst the internal struggles, George knocked on the door, cautiously opening it slightly. "Can I come in?" he asked, recognizing the need for support in Marisol's challenging moments.

Marisol met his gaze. "Yeah," she nodded, and he entered her room, taking a seat on the edge of her bed. "I just wanted to talk to you before you go to therapy today," he said softly. Marisol responded with a small nod. "Dr. Lopez was booked, so you're seeing Dr. Villanueva. I've heard she's amazing, plus, she's into women too. She has a wife and two kids," he added, offering some context about the new therapist.

Marisol eyed him with a suspicious look. "Uh, well... what if she's lying on her website?" she stated, expressing doubt. George chuckled. "You're not gonna get out of this, Mars," he said, patting her leg. She scoffed. "Dang it," a big sigh escaping her lips as George laughed, planting a kiss on his daughter's forehead. "You'll be okay," he reassured her.

She bit her bottom lip. "I guess.."

Marisol sat in Dr. Villanueva's office. "Hello, Marisol. How's your day?" the therapist inquired, her legs crossed, a notepad on her lap, while Marisol fidgeted with her bracelet. "Good," she responded, keeping her reply succinct.

Dr. Villanueva sighed. "Well, what are some things you can tell me?" she asked, locking eyes with Marisol. "Uh, I love Lady Gaga," Marisol replied, nonchalantly shrugging her shoulders. Dr. Villanueva smiled. "Me too. My kids and my wife love jamming out to it." The shared appreciation for Lady Gaga introduced a warm and relatable tone to the therapy session.

Marisol's eyes lit up as she scanned her therapist's face, confirming the sincerity. "You have a wife?" she smiled, and Dr. Villanueva chuckled softly. "Yes, been together for a few years now. I hear that you have a girlfriend yourself?" The shared aspect of having significant others introduced a personal connection to the conversation.

Marisol cracked a grin. "Yes, I do. Sam is her name. She was my first love," she affirmed, and Dr. Villanueva smiled. "Tell me about her," she nodded, encouraging Marisol to share. Marisol's face flushed.

"She's amazing. She makes me super happy. We met in middle school, and we fell in love. We were together for about three years when we broke up, but then got back together a month ago. She was great, but she started hanging out with these two girls, Yasmine and Moon, and I didn't like them, so they manipulated her into breaking up with me β€” well, more like Yasmine, Moon just followed her around. Moon's really nice though; we're sorta friends. Sam texted me and said she wasn't gay and broke up with me, which was pretty stupid and not true cause she literally dated me for THREE YEARS.

But we started talking again when I broke up with the guy I dated after her. Which now I think about it was a rebound, but I dunno. I know I had feelings for him?? She helped me realize my ex after we broke up, Eli or well, he goes by Hawk now, was toxic. I mean, he was never like this. It was this karate dojo, Cobra Kai, that changed him. He grew angry, letting his anger on me, had a whole different personality and he was confident now!? I mean, he was so sweet and shy before he became this Hawk guy. Ugh, I miss him?? But I'm glad I am with Sam now!" Marisol ranted, pouring out her complex emotions.

Dr. Villanueva frowned slightly. "Geez, that's a lot of drama. Hawk sounds like a bad person," she remarked, raising her eyebrows. Marisol shook her head. "I dunno. He was my best friend for years! Then he turned into this whole other person. It was so weird; he acted like someone I didn't know because the person I knew before would never be abusive towards me!" Marisol expressed the profound shift in Hawk's behavior, grappling with the unsettling transformation of someone she once considered close.

Dr. Villanueva jotted down notes in her notepad. "This sounds like Eli is being manipulated and changed into this whole different person by Cobra Kai," she observed. Marisol exhaled, nodding her head. "Yeah." The therapist's analysis resonated with Marisol's own observations of the unsettling transformation Eli had undergone under the influence of Cobra Kai.

Therapy is gonna help me a lot. she thought.

While Marisol was in therapy, she had gotten a text from Sam.

From Sam: I'm outside, your dad wanted me to hangout with you today after your session. I knew you wouldn't mind. I was also thinking maybe Aisha could hangout, so we're gonna go to Cobra Kai and get her to come with us. We haven't hung out with her in so long.

β€”

Seated in Sam's car outside Cobra Kai, Aisha walked outside. "There she is!" Marisol whispered, waving for Aisha's attention until she got it and walked over. "Hey! What are you doing here?" Aisha exclaimed.

"You finally changed your mind and decided to join the Cobras?" Aisha asked, prompting Marisol to try to hold back her laugh. "We still need another girl or two," she added, pointing out. Sam looked at Marisol. "Uh, no thanks. I don't know if I'm really a karate person." Sam declined, expressing uncertainty about embracing the world of karate.

Sam chuckled nervously. "Yeah, I don't know if I'll join, but I'll keep it in mind," she noted. Marisol added with a grin, "We're actually here to see if you wanted to hang out." Sam continued with a small nod, grinning. "Yeah! We were thinking about going to the beach club or the mall?" she suggested. Aisha chimed in, "I'd love to, but the guys and I have to go to Hawk's house to watch some movie called Over the Top."

Marisol's grin dropped at the mention of Hawk, feeling Sam grab her hand for comfort. She looked up from Sam's hand to see Hawk walking outside. Sam's eyes widened slightly. "Wanna come with?" Aisha asked them. Sam forced a smile, seeing Hawk staring at Marisol. "Uh, yeah, I was sort of thinking it would maybe just be us three," she suggested. The dynamics shifted with Hawk's presence, creating a subtle tension that Sam tried to navigate.

"You guys should come. It would be good for you two to talk with Miguel and Hawk. Air things out," Aisha suggested as Sam felt Marisol squeeze her hand gently. "We're gonna take a rain check. We're both not ready," Sam forced a smile as Aisha sighed in defeat. "Okay. I'm sorry." Aisha's suggestion to reconcile was met with Sam's reluctance, emphasizing the need for more time to navigate their feelings.

Marisol avoided eye contact, fixating on her lap as she waited for Aisha to leave. Sam started to drive off, glancing at Marisol. "I'm so sorry, Mars. Do you wanna go somewhere or just go home?" she asked, noting her girlfriend's distress. "I wanna go to your place, I wanna sleep over," Marisol informed her. Sam sighed. "Okay." The air was heavy with unspoken emotions as they decided to seek solace in each other's company.

β€”

Marisol was napping in Sam's room while Sam spoke to her dad in the home dojo. Inspired by the conversation, Sam contemplated inviting Marisol to join Miyagi-Do, hoping to strengthen their bond and allow Marisol to connect with her cousin. Sam returned to her room to find a sleeping Marisol. Climbing onto the bed, she cuddled up next to Marisol, hugging her from behind. "Mars?" Sam gently called, trying not to disturb her peaceful slumber.

Marisol quickly woke up, looking over her shoulder. "Yeah?" she flushed, yawning, making Sam giggle. They both sat up. "I wanted to talk to you about joining Miyagi-Do with me. Robby is there, and you'll get to know him more," Sam explained, her words filled with enthusiasm as she broached the topic.

"Yes," Marisol responded quickly with a grin, and Sam's eyes lit up. "Really?" she exclaimed. Marisol hummed, kissing Sam's cheek. "Yay! Oh my god, I'm so excited!" Sam squealed as Marisol laughed. "I'm sorry if I am terrible at first," she apologized. Sam smiled, saying, "It's okay! No one is perfect at first." Marisol exhaled, nodding her head. The excitement and support in Sam's response eased Marisol's apprehension about joining Miyagi-Do.

β€”

They drove to the dojo, finding Daniel giving Robby a speech about wanting balance in the Valley. "Got room for two more?" Sam chimed in with a grin, holding Marisol's hand. "I think I might like this. The place is super cool and aesthetic," Marisol added, expressing her positive first impression of the dojo.

Daniel looked over with a grin, and Robby grinned at his cousin. "Yeah!" The LaRusso man nodded as Sam and Marisol took one step forward, looking around. "Marisol's right, the place looks great. I mean, the house has been painted and the deck's been sanded. Does that mean Marisol and I are off the hook?" Sam playfully inquired, blending enthusiasm with a touch of humor.

Marisol sniffled a laugh. "We better be. I'm new to this," she commented, raising her hand in the air. "Uh, no. We're gonna find something for the both of you to do. Get on over here," Daniel waved them over. Marisol puckered her lips out dramatically, making Sam chuckle. She pulled Marisol down the steps to stand beside Robby. "All right. Not even open twenty-four hours, and I've tripled my roster," Daniel remarked, acknowledging the rapid growth of his student count with a hint of pride.

Sam cracked a grin, playfully nudging Marisol in the side, who grinned back at her, leaning her head on Sam's shoulder. "I've got a good feeling about this. You guys should get some rest. Because this summer, you're gonna be spending a lot of time back here, all together," Daniel said with a positive tone. Sam, Marisol, and Robby exchanged a glance, sensing the beginning of a transformative summer.
