✶ ꒰ ⋆✴︎˚。⋆ ⋮ 𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 ⨾ jun ⋆ most commonly used. he actually prefers it to his given name, and often introduces himself to people as jun rather than minjun. there's no particular reason why he likes it so much, he just does.

junnie ⋆ as a child, this is what majority of the older folks in his hometown would refer to him as. it's a cute version of his name that has recently taken on a new form of endearment ever since his boyfriend started utilising it too.

minnie mouse ⋆ being the youngest sibling of his family, there was an expectation that he would be subjected to some form of teasing growing up. and this was his sisters' way of annoying the hell out of him. nobody can exactly pinpoint the origins of this nickname, nor why jun gets so easily riled up when called this - however, if you're looking for a way to irritate him, then here it is.

moomin ⋆ a nickname coined by his childhood best friend - doyun - after jun mentioned liking the character one time when the pair were kids. it's been a running joke ever since.

✶ ꒰ ⋆✴︎˚。⋆ ⋮ 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 ⨾ at first glance, jun seems to present himself as someone who is witty and eloquently spoken, charming his fellow classmates and friends whenever he converses with them. his naturally sociable and warm appearance attracts many, and his pragmatic way of dealing with situations has piqued the interest of those whom he encounters. yet beneath that carefree and daring exterior, you'll find a boy who is terrified of sharing his true self - because the hands that have held his heart before have not been so kind. at the first sight of conflict, he opts to run rather than facing it head on - nothing good has ever come out of arguments in his experience, so he chooses avoidance in order to protect himself. after all, years of self reliance and independence have moulded him into quite an emotionally distant person; jun is not one to open up to others very easily, and why should he? in this past, it's only ended painfully for him, so what was the point when he'd only be reliving those upsetting moments of his life that he desperately wishes he could erase from his mind? breaking through the superficial façade that he's curated for himself can be a challenge - but not impossible. and if you're lucky enough to get through to him, you'll discover the real jun; someone who could spend hours talking about a stupid thing he saw on the internet, but who'd also never forget to ask you about your day. someone who has been hurt before for trusting blindly, but still remains loyal to the bone because it's part of his morals. he may be selfish and stubborn at times, but jun is someone who will love you unconditionally for as long as you allow him to. it's not an easy process to get to that stage, but once you do, the journey will have been worth it.

✶ ꒰ ⋆✴︎˚。⋆ ⋮ 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 ⨾ born during a harsh daegu winter to a struggling single mother, it was clear what kind of stance life took towards jun from the second he entered the world. the only kindness it ever showed him was sparing him from experiencing his father's death, a burden forced to be carried by his sisters and mother alone. and they wore that grief as if it were their everyday clothes. with time, he later learned that perhaps this 'kindness' extended to him was actually just another one of life's cruelties in disguise; he was now an outsider in his own family. they could connect with one another in way that he could never - and will never - understand. and sometimes, jun thinks, things might have been a little less lonely if he too had witnessed his father wither away into a husk of the man he used to be, just like the rest of his family did.

growing up, he rarely saw his mother around the house. maybe mere glimpses in the mornings, if he'd gotten up early enough. raising three children is difficult in and of itself, but doing it by yourself was near impossible, so his mother did what she had to do to keep the roof over their heads. and that meant working like a dog and shuttling between three different jobs for the next twenty or so years. plus, it wasn't like the family had much money to begin with in the first place. yet, watching his mother's exhausted frame collapse onto her bed after an especially long shift left a sense of guilt to rot away in the pit of jun's stomach. he understood that this was the way things had to be. he knew that this is what had to be done in order for them to survive. but that did not mean he agreed with it.

solace came in the form of his two older sisters, both of whom ensured that not a day went by where jun didn't feel loved. fiercely protective of their precious younger brother, they did their best to soften the rough edges around his life and in doing so, it brought happiness to them too. seeing his smile was enough to keep them going, because it gave them hope that their situation would get better. and it did, for a while at least.

school became another comfort he sought out often; his second home. the people there ranged from those suffering similar financial issues as him, to those who'd never had to worry about money a day in their lives. but none of that mattered when you were in the classroom - you were judged based on your ability, not your background. and if there was one thing that jun could count on, it was his intelligence. consistently being top of his class garnered him immense popularity, however every positive comes with a price. standing out meant having a target painted on his back, and students were known to become fairly competitive when their education was on the line. jun's every move would be heavily scrutinized, many greedy eyes looking out for a single mistake or falter which they could use to their advantage. being noticed may have been nice initially, but it planted the thought in jun's head that he had to be careful who he trusts - a seed that would slowly fester in his mind as he got older.

receiving his acceptance to seiyon university was his ticket out of that hellhole. trust him, he loves his hometown - but there's nothing there left for him anymore, except his family and maybe one or two friends. neither of his sisters not parents had degrees - they all went straight to finding jobs or working apprenticeships - so jun would be the first of his family to attend university. it was a no brainer that his answer would be yes to going, however his hesitation came in the form of the price of his course. tuition didn't come cheap, and even though he had two scholarships covering majority of the costs, there was still a fair chunk left over. that didn't seem to stop his mother, who pushed him to accept seiyon's offer and promised jun that she would whatever it took so that he could pursue his dreams. her unwavering dedication to their family is one of the many traits he admires about his mother, and deciding to trust the faith she had in him, he later moved out to seoul to begin his studies.

✶ ꒰ ⋆✴︎˚。⋆ ⋮ 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐜𝐮𝐩𝐢𝐝 ⨾ where six students at seiyon decided to create a dating app for their group project. when one of his classmates mentioned this app to him in passing, he was genuinely convinced that this was some elaborate prank. i mean, how would a professor even attempt to grade such work? is it based off of how many couples are created from it? or matches? the logistics behind it made zero sense to jun. it took a lot of persuasion from others for him to simply check the app out, given its sudden surge in popularity, but he remained firm in his opinions that it was a waste of time. yet, after a night out with friends and his inhibitions lowered, jun's curiosity got the better of him and he decided to download it on a whim to figure out what the hype was all about. if it's for a bit fun, then why not, right? little did he know that this would be just the beginning ...

✶ » oh heesun ( mother ... 53 years old ... part-time cleaner & receptionist )
a woman who sacrificed everything for her children, and she would do it again. there's nothing heesun loves more than her three kids, and if raising them meant trading in the rest of her freedom, then it was decision that she was more than ready to make. she's always been a naturally boisterous and cheerful woman, constantly flitting about from place to place with an energy that rarely seemed to run low. yet, there is a certain sadness that lurks underneath that happy smile of hers - much like her son. although she would never admit it outright, but jun reminds her of her late husband; the uncanny resemblance both a blessing and a curse. it's part of the reason why she keeps an extra eye on him, because losing jun would be like losing his father all over again. and heesun doesn't believe that she could survive that a second time.

✶ » hong seokhyun ( father ... 34 years old ... deceased )
nobody can predict when their life will end, however illness followed seokhyun his whole life as if it were his own shadow. and he knew it was only a matter of time until his luck ran dry. when he was alive, he was the most vivacious and animated of the family - which is hard to picture when he would've been competing with likes of his two daughters or wife. after his death, a heavy silence hung over their house, burying any sounds of lingering laughter that you'd once heard in those rooms. they didn't like talking about him, especially after jun's birth. of course, if jun had any questions regarding his dad then they would answer them without fail - but nothing more.

✶ » hong iseul ( sister ... 29 years old ... taekwondo instructor )
being the eldest sibling came with many responsibilities, and with that pressure also came power. when their mother wasn't around, it was iseul who had the authority in their house and sometimes, she may have let that get to her head a bit. don't be mistaken, she's deeply devoted to her loved ones and cares a great deal about them - however her need too be in control is a destructive aspect of her being, and has driven away jun on more than one occasion. getting stuck in an unhappy marriage didn't help, but iseul had a choice; it was either money or love. and in her circumstances, when you chose one you were giving up the other. like i said, being the oldest came with a price.

✶ » hong 'yeona' siyeon ( sister ... 26 years old ... elementary school teaching assistant )
the certified wild child. if iseul was the rich control freak and jun was the studious overachiever, then that made yeona our resident party girl. you can guarantee that every nightclub within a one mile radius of daegu knows her by name, which is a shocking fact to consider given her occupation. some people read books or watch movies to relax, she likes to drink and dance. that's not all there is to her though; watching her brother bravely strive for his dream career, yeona felt inspired to chase after her own too. applying to university as a mature student was daunting at first, but the moment she arrived there everything had fallen into place. if it wasn't for jun, she might've been trapped to wait tables at local restaurants for the rest of her life.

⟶ 𝖋riends

✶ » shin doyun ( 22 years old ... childhood best friend )
doyun is what jun would consider his 'platonic soulmate', if that is even a thing. the two have practically been glued to the hip since they were babies, and usually you'd never find one without the other being close by. he was the first friend jun ever made in his hometown, and pretty much the only one who stuck. their relationship has managed to stand the test of time, and the strength of their bond barely faltered when jun moved cities for university. however, there was one thing that came between the pair at one point - doyun's sister, whom jun dated for a while during high school. following their messy break-up, the dynamic was quite awkward between them for some time, until both parties had properly moved on. now, jun calls doyun every other day to catch up and tries to regularly visit daegu in order to see him, truly a friendship for the ages.

✶ » kim jieun ( 21 years old ... classmate )
all good friendship stories begin with a misunderstanding, right? essentially, jieun was paired up with jun for a project in their second year which made up approximately 30% of their final grade. this meant spending a lot of their free time together to ensure that this project would get the best grades possible. and during this time, whether it was straight-up delusion or genuine confusion, jieun started picking up a vibe from jun. you know... that kind of vibe, the one that makes you think that there's something more going on. well, when she had finally mustered up the courage to make a move, jieun discovered that he was actually already in a relationship - and with a guy, nonetheless. you can understand how that might've been slightly shocking for her to find out. despite her obvious miscalculation, they've remained in touch ever since and are now even part of the same social circle.

✶ » choi seongho ( 22 years old ... classmate )
meeting choi seongho wasn't necessarily a bad decision, however staying friends with him was a different story. he is the worst influence jun has ever come across; skips lectures, smokes too much, stays out late every night, drinks until he basically passes out and the list could go on and on. but... he's also really fun. being around seongho has definitely brought jun outside of his shell, and introduced him to the wilder side of life (probably a side that his sister is already familiar with). and surprisingly, they balance each other out very well - seongho ensuring that he doesn't spend all of his time cooped up in his dorm, and jun keeping the other's antics in check if they ever go too far.

✶ » shin namjoo ( the one who cheated )
dating your best friend's sibling almost never ends well - take jun's word for it. after two gloriously tumultuous years together, he broke things off after he caught her hooking up with someone else's plus 1 at their high school graduation party. he'll be the first to raise his hand and admit that their relationship wasn't perfect; jun was still in the process of figuring out his sexuality and because of that, he maybe wasn't the most attentive boyfriend. however, he'd always made it clear that she could leave whenever she wanted to whilst he dealt with that part of himself, and namjoo chose to stay. the pair haven't spoken since their explosive argument following the cheating incident, and jun intends for things to remain that way.

✶ » park chanyoung ( the one who was never around )
when you are in a relationship with someone who you barely ever see, it becomes near impossible to keep the spark between you both alive. that was the case for chanyoung and jun, whose busy academic lives kept them apart. he tried to make time for his boyfriend, but when chanyoung didn't bother to do the same, jun quickly realised that he was the only one putting in any effort - and subsequently ended things on a bitter note. chanyoung's nonchalance at the whole break up angered him further; they may as well have never dated at all by the way he was reacting. nevertheless, they became amicable with one another however lost touch once chanyoung graduated.

✶ » kim eunju ( the one who didn't like labels )
an important thing to do when you start seeing someone is to clarify the nature of your relationship - a hilarious blunder on jun's part, which led him pursue an 'open relationship' with eunju that lasted a mere few months. he uses the term very loosely, considering that it was mainly just her secretly dating several people behind his back without his knowledge. when confronted with her actions, eunju was quick to defend herself and claimed that since he didn't officially ask her out, their relationship wasn't technically closed off yet. it was hard to disagree with that logic, however it didn't stop it from hurting. she proposed that they continue this 'open relationship' of theirs and promised to be more upfront about seeing other people, but jun could no longer bring himself to trust her. plus, monogamy is more his thing.

✶ » kang yunho ( the one who moved too fast )
a lot of crazy things can happen on a night out in seoul with friends, but scoring a date with a hot medical student from a rival university was not one that jun was anticipating. those initial few months together were nice, but the relationship soon spiralled after yunho wanted to progress things to the next level. he wanted them to buy an apartment, and began discussions into what sort of life they'd have together post university. all these talks about the future; it was too much too soon. perhaps jun could've handled the situation better, but the pressure to keep up with yunho's expectations just kept building - and eventually, he couldn't take it anymore. the only good thing to come out of their break up was the fact that it meant jun never had to see yunho's parents again; and he's pretty certain that they despised him from the moment he started dating their son.

⟶ 𝖈urrent  𝖗elationship

✶ » heo jihyun ( the one who stayed )
how does the guy who's skeptical of the new dating app floating around campus, end up in a relationship with its main creator? well ... jun's not entirely sure either. what he does know however, is that joining click cupid was quite literally the best choice he's ever made considering that it led him to his now boyfriend. if he could describe jihyun in one word, it would be 'perfection'; the man can cook and clean, has the same academic drive as him, and to top it all off, he's a phenomenal dancer (like, this dude can dance). the fact that he's also insanely attractive too is just an added bonus in jun's eyes. although things between them appeared to manifest quite quickly, the progression felt natural for the couple who currently live together in their shared dorm at seiyon. every romantic relationship comes with its fair share of challenges; it was no different for jun and jihyun. but they continue to choose each other each time, vowing to never leave when it gets tough and instead working things out so that they can be together for as long as the world will allow them to. and if that's not true love, then i don't know what is.

reading ⋆ funnily enough, jun likes reading in his spare time (when he has any). it's mainly crime novels he enjoys, but is open to recommendations that his friends give him.

visiting places ⋆ okay, it's not exactly a hobby per se, but sometimes he just likes to get out of the dorm and go places to relax - whether that be to a nearby park or a pop art show. it's the perfect way to clear his mind after many gruelling hours of doing coursework.

✶ ꒰ ⋆✴︎˚。⋆ ⋮ 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 ⨾ failure ⋆ he has to succeed. there is no other option. otherwise his family's sacrifices alongside the countless hours of effort he has put into getting this far will have been in vain.

spiders ⋆ no creature should have 8 eight legs - that's just too many. the way the move, their beady eyes... there's no doubt that jun would be immediately reduced to tears if he saw one in person.

butterflies ⋆ a very valid fear. those things are terrifying, with their gigantic wings and long legs. everyone who knows about this fear of his tends to make fun of him for it, and once doyun threw him a surprise butterfly themed birthday party when they were teenagers. jun was not impressed in the slightest.

✶ ꒰ ⋆✴︎˚。⋆ ⋮ 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐚 ⨾ #1. his family have a fun tradition which they carry out on each other's birthdays, and that is to try and find the most outrageous gift you can; but you mustn't spend a single cent on it. the most memorable ones so far have been the free spa coupons jun stumbled across in a gossip magazine which he gave to his mother, an expensive bottle of champagne that his sister yeona managed to convince a man in the store to buy on her behalf - and of course, the infamous skydiving experience that jun's mother won in an online competition which she then gifted to him for his 20th ( he will never do that again ).

#2. jun's all time favourite card game is uno. he used to play it every day with his classmates during lunch, and has many fond memories surrounding the game. however, jun also gets incredibly competitive whenever he plays uno and almost got it completely banned in his school after cussing out a person for placing down three +4s in a row right before his turn. not his finest moment, he'll admit.

#3. at the wonderful age of 22, jun has still yet to obtain his driver's licence; and there's nothing wrong with that. with his studies and now part-time job occupying majority of his time, there has been no time for him to seek out lessons. he knows that it's a useful life skill to have, but using public transport is so much easier and it's not like he's going to faraway places that he couldn't just walk to - plus, if anything, he has jihyun to drive him around if needed.

#4. when jun was in high school, he and a group of his classmates came together for their school's talent show and performed a heavily butchered version of twice's 'fancy'. unfortunately for him, the entire dance was caught on camera by his wonderful sister who had come to show her support, the video capturing just how badly they all annihilated the choreography. what he doesn't know is that she actually posted it on youtube in hopes that it would go viral, but it ended up not even surpassing 1k views. perhaps jun should be thankful for that fact.

#5. a long time ago, jun had an obsession with this particular music artist whom he listened to all the time. when news broke that this person would be coming to his city to perform, you could only imagine the immense joy he felt. disappointment came in the realization that on the same day that the tickets went on sale, he had an important assessment at school which he was required to sit. weighing up his options, he decided to say 'screw it' and cut class -  and that would be the first and last time he ever did such a thing. sadly, he didn't manage to buy any tickets and instead received a detention from his teacher. safe to say that it was not worth it.

✶ ꒰ ⋆✴︎˚。⋆ ⋮ RAHHHH he's here!!!! my pride and joy 🥹 you have no idea how much i love jun - the amount of time i spent into deepening his lore was crazy fr. i didn't realise i would end up writing this much, but here we are. certified yapper mat strikes again i guess. i'm unsure if every character's profile will be this long but stay tuned for when they come ^^

also, ngl, i was kinda proud of the graphics and then i uploaded them onto the chapter and then wattpad depleted the quality by like 600% so now i'm not sure how i feel about them anymore ;( at least i tried, you know? it's the thought that counts.

ok, i feel like enough time has passed for me to reveal the real reason for why i created jun in the first place. honestly?... i just wanted to see if i could bag the hanbin oc LMAO sorry not sorry rune / lh 😭 i don't think i was very subtle about it either, but at least now you guys know. and at that point i wasn't even hanbin biased either (i fear meeting jihyun converted me though) so i think i just wanted to try and do it for fun HAHA that was really the only original motivation behind him; i had no idea that jun would end up being a part of this great love story on click cupid / lh. in all seriousness, i'm really glad i had the chance to create him - even if my intentions were silly in the beginning - because now i have this oc that i am very proud of and will cherish for the rest of the time that i get to use him on the click cupid server.

✶ ꒰ ⋆✴︎˚。⋆ ⋮ thank you thank you thank you for reading this far ♡ i appreciate every single person who is supporting this project, and hopefully you guys all loved jun as much as i do!! (if you didn't, i will bite you / j)
