❛ is this thing even on? ❜

agreeing to take part in a random, spur of the moment project for an old friend wasn't exactly on jun's to-do list. yet here he is, sat rather impatiently on his living room couch after having cancelled his evening plans with his boyfriend, getting ready to film what he considers his fifteen minutes of fame ( or whatever you're supposed to call it ). despite his initial annoyance, there was a tiny part of him that was quite excited for this spontaneous interview - jun didn't know what would be asked of him, nor which direction the conversation would go, and perhaps it was the factor of the unknown that sent an exhilarating thrill down his spine as he waited for the cameras to start rolling. realistically, anything could happen; but that's the fun bit, isn't it?

nearly half an hour had passed, about as much progress made as they had in the beginning - which would be nothing. jun was informed prior to this that it may take some time to carry out and to free up his schedule for the day, however it never occurred to him that his friend would be so incompetent when it came to technology. watching her set up was like observing a tragic train wreck taking place right in front of you; utterly depressing, but for some odd reason you can't seem to tear your eyes away. eventually, out of the kindness of his heart and definitely not irritation, jun stood up and walked over in hopes to speed up the process, his hands finding their way to the tripod with an expensive looking camera on top. sensing that he had moved from his place, a young looking girl, no more than her late teens, shot her head up from where she was crouched and clocked him instantly, letting out an angry hiss as his hands made contact.

❛ i don't remember giving you permission to touch that, ❜ she strode over, swatting jun away from the area. ❛ this 'thing' costs like three months of your tuition, so unless you can cough up the money by chance that it breaks - hands off. and why on earth would i put it there and then not turn it on? god, you always ask the most moronic questions sometimes. i really don't get how jihyun puts up with you. ❜

the last comment earned her a piercing glare, to which she simply stuck out her tongue and continued working. jun went back to his seat and pulled out his phone to check his notifications, praying that he wouldn't be consumed by his current state of boredom. a few minutes later, everything appeared to be good to go. the girl took her position on a chair behind the camera, plastering a cheerful smile on her face as she nodded towards him.

a light, carefree laugh escaped his lips as his eyes met hers with an equally challenging gaze.

'oh look at me, i can play matchmaker' - that's great, but how is that helping you academically ? and realistically, how much success would a student-led app really have ? the hype was overrated in my opinion, but my friends were begging me to check it out so i did. ❜

─── ⛧ ❛ ahh, i see. so making a profile was sort of like an experiment then, testing to see if the app lived up to its reputation and popularity. it's funny though jun, because although you said you didn't trust the reliability of click cupid, it says here in my notes that you are in a loving relationship with its main creator ? care to explain ? ❜

✶ ꒰ ⋆✴︎˚｡⋆ ⋮ 𝐣𝐮𝐧 ⨾ ❛ ... first of all, i had just been on a night out with all of my friends when i impulsively downloaded it, and his post and profile just happened to show up on my screen after i had made my account. jihyun, if you see this, i'm sorry but it's the truth. and if i'm being honest, i wouldn't have had it any other way. my stupid, drunk decision led me to quite literally the best thing that has ever happened in the entirety of my life. yes, i had judgements about the app before which i am not going to apologise for, but as you can tell it all worked out in the end. a win-win for everyone. ❜

turning the camera off, she began tidying the equipment into the large bags which she had hauled all the way here. jun offered up his assistance, however was simply shooed away and told to sit quietly whilst she finished packing up. it couldn't have been more than ten minutes before everything had been cleared from the room, the place returning to the state that it was in before mat's whirlwind arrival.

the realisation of the finality of their meeting had struck him in that moment, the disappointment beginning to sink in. despite her occasional annoying quips and desire to stir up drama, there was a certain fondness which he held in his heart for her, which jun is sure is reciprocated. after all, she did say he was her favourite. the click of the door handle turning indicated that his boyfriend had returned from whatever errand he had been carrying out.

❛ they didn't have the ones you like- oh ! there's someone in our dorm, ❜ jihyun was slightly startled, his grip on the shopping bags loosening as he took a step backwards. ❛ and you are ? ... ❜

❛ i was just leaving, ❜ the girl politely bowed and gathered her items before heading towards the exit. ❛ see you around, jun. bye jihyun. ❜

❛ don't fall down the stairs on your way out ! ❜ jun cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted. in response, mat just held up her middle finger on her free hand without looking back, her small frame trudging down the corridor and disappearing off into the distance.

❛ who was that ? ❜ jihyun tilted his head in confusion, placing the bags on the kitchen counter before sidling up to his boyfriend.

❛ who, mat ? she's just ... some kid i know, ❜ jun smiled softly to himself. ❛ anyways, there was this show i saw ... ❜

✶ ꒰ ⋆✴︎˚｡⋆ ⋮ when i tell you that the idea for this came to me in a dream, i am being 100% serious. i don't even know how or why - i just know that i had a lot of fun writing this ^^ i wasn't originally going to do anything else other than making profiles for my ocs, but then i thought about it and realised that it might be a bit boring so i decided to incorporate these little 'tapes' into the book so you guys can get a glimpse into what the character is like !

there will probably be a lot of references or inside jokes that you might not understand - and that is okay ! i just included them for either humour purposes or because i felt that they aided in the character's development 😄 sometimes reading things out of context can be funnier idk i'll leave that up to you guys to decide
