It was nice to know that I wasn't the last one to show up to the dorm.

A young woman with wavy brown hair and a blue denim jacket on walked in, carrying a single suitcase. I assumed she had more suitcases behind her, but I was wrong.

However, since she was last, she had last claims to everything in the room. Bobbi, my blond roommate, was my bunkmate. She and Simmons, my british roommate, had both claimed bottom bunks. Why they would do that, I didn't know.

I personally called a top bunk as soon as I got in here, only to find out that the top bunks were the only ones left to claim.

I also was sharing a dresser with Bobbi since it seemed like we had a similar style and the same size so if clothes got mixed up, it wouldn't matter. So the new girl, who's name was supposedly Skye Bullivard, would be sharing with Simmons.

"Hi!" Simmons immediately introduced herself to the new girl. "I'm Jemma Simmons, call me Simmons."

"Hey, uh I'm Skye. Call me Skye." The new girl introduced herself back.

"Are you alright with taking the top bunk close to the door? That's the only bunk unclaimed." Simmons informed her.

"Yeah that's cool. As long as it's the farthest from the bathroom, am I right?" Skye laughed and the rest of us gave an awkward stare at her that made her lose that laugh.

"Bobbi Morse." The blonde agent introduced herself with a kind smile, holding out a hand. "Soldier branch. Which are you?"

"Uh, Technology and Engineering." Skye replied, shaking her hand back.

"You mean Engineering and Technology." Simmons corrected her.

"Same thing." Skye shrugged, pulling her suitcase over to the bed where the bunk was empty.

"Do you have all of you sheets and blankets in that tiny thing?" I asked.

Skye turned her attention to me with a bit of confusion.

"Was I supposed to bring sheets and blankets?"

I scoffed, enjoying the humor of the white chick.

She wasn't joking though.

"It's alright. I have an extra pillow if you need it." Simmons offered.

"And there's a town like half an hour away, we can take the bus tomorrow." Bobbi suggested.

"I assumed that with what I needed to pay for this school, all the sleeping stuff would come with it." Skye grumbled.

"Here, I have a small blanket you can use as well." Bobbi offered, grabbing one of her plain black blankets and handing it to Skye.

"I don't have anything extra on me right now." I shrugged, feeling a little selfish. But honestly, she should've known.

As Skye began unpacking the little clothes she had and putting them into the dresser that Simmons pointed her to, I continued making my bed.

I had a small stuffed bear that my cousin Francisco had bought me before I moved here. I had a large silver blanket with sunflowers on them and two silver pillows with no designs. I probably could've offered Skye one of those pillows, but then the aesthetic I had going would be off-putting.

"So what branch are you doing?" I heard Skye ask.

"Sciences. I'm hoping to specialize in the Life Science portion." Simmons replied.

"What about you? Uh-"

"Elena." I answered her.

"What branch are you in, Elena?"

"Soldier. I joined for my boyfriend." I replied, smiling to myself.

Keller and I have been in a happy relationship for a few months now. I didn't really know what I wanted to do with my life, but I knew I wanted to do more good for the world. He offered to pay for me if I joined the academy with him, so obviously I accepted.

We met back in Sophomore year of high school, and we were friends for a while before he asked me out midway through senior year. Sure he was a stern white boy but he was my white boy.

"I wish that was case for me." Bobbi scoffed at my comment.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked.

"My boyfriend and I applied together back when the applications were first put out. Then he broke up with me cause I was putting too much attention on my future rather than him. However, he'd already paid to get in so when he got accepted, he couldn't refund himself. Now he hates me and he claimed I 'ruined his life' and stuff." Bobbi informed us.

Skye glanced at Simmons awkwardly, but I could tell that she was mostly trying not to laugh.

"Oh!" Simmons looked down at her watch.

"What?" Skye asked.

"It's almost time for orientation." She grinned.

----------
Second chapter completed. Throughout the first 8 chapters I'ma switch between the 8 characters so that I can try to get a feel for each of their minds and how I want to write them.
And yes, I know shield technically only has 2 divisions where sciences / engineering and technology are together but like once again, this is a fanfiction and I can do what I want w them

Love you guys <33
