As a seasoned traveller and a local, I would agree that Malaysia has it all.

If you like sandy beaches, crystal-clear water & palm trees, head to Redang Island, Tioman Island, Sipadan Island, Pangkor Island or Pulau Besar!

If you don't like the tropical heat, I suggest you to go to Cameron Highlands or Genting Highlands. Both places have cooling weather, even so, Cameron Highlands is more suitable for families as they have tea farms, strawberry farms etc. Genting Highlands has an indoor extreme theme park and a giant shopping area.

If you love learning about culture and history, head to George Town in Penang (Melaka is an excellent option too!) There are many old British colonial buildings, Chinese-style shophouses in the old town area which you can visit. If you love culture and your family/friend/anyone else is not interested, bring them to the "new" area where there are shopping malls and towering skyscrapers. :)

Okay, this is the most important part y'all, as a local, I totally recommend going to Sabah and Sarawak! (and also a plus if you love nature) 

I've been to Sabah and Sarawak once before and I am very stoked. It's such an underrated place! Despite being near to jungles, I didn't encounter a single mosquito for some reason. So, you can skip the bug spray, folks! 😁

I enjoyed learning about tribe culture, nature and also seeing endangered animals in the wild! I do recommend bringing binoculars, they will come in so handy if you are planning to take a cruise down Kinabatangan River.
