chapter one, a Beretta M9

She was running, fast. From him. There was no escape. She could fly to the other side of the world and he'd still be there. At that moment right there, there was actually no escape. She came to a dead corridor, she could hear his heavy shoes clinking on the hard ground.

She was beyond terrified. Her head was ready to explode, she thought about what he could possibly do to her when he finally caught her. Would he kill her ? But no, he needed her, she was valuable to him. She was breathing heavily, cold sweat run down her forehead.

She heard a faint voice calling her name. It sounded familiar. It was like she was disoriented from reality. At that moment Raven could not seperate reality from fantasy. She felt like she was going crazy.

"Rave! Raven! Raven, wake up!" The girl shot up from her nightmare, looking around with fear in her eyes. "Hey! Hey, it's me. You're okay! You're fine Rave".

"Cassie". She was breathing heavily and hardly. "Cassie, it felt so real, I - I don't know how or - or". She was practically shaking. Terrified of the man.

"It's okay Rave. I'm here, with you. It's fine". Cassie held her, in her arms and stroked her hair and spoke soothing nothings into her ear, in hopes to calm her down.

Cassie was Rave's best friend. Cassandra and Raven. They knew each other since they were little kids. Cassandra was the oldest one of the two. She was 19 and Raven was 17. Cassie was always there to hold Raven and calm her down after a nightmare. Raven was always there to protect Cassie from him. They would die for each other. They love each other like sisters.

"Hey Cas what time is it ?" The shaken up girl asked. "It's 3 in the morning". "Thanks". Raven stood up from her bed and walked to her desk, she picked up her water and quickly chugged it down, her hands still trembling from the nightmare.

"I'm gonna go sleep. Or do you want me to stay ?" Cassie and Raven sleep in separate rooms. But tonight was one of the days where they just talked till late night, and sleep in the same room. "No it's okay, go. Goodnight. Or morning?" The younger girl said. "Goodnight Rave". Cassie laughed and left the room.

Raven was laying in her bed. It was currently 4 am, and she just couldn't sleep. She had been tossing around for more than half an hour, at this point she had given up.

She got up and took off her 'pyjamas' which were some lose shirt and a pair off grey sweatpants. She put on a dark green long sleeve shirt and black pants. She took of her orange bunny slippers, (that cassie had picked for her) and put on her black combat boots. She could be going out for 2 seconds and no one could see her, but she just wasn't able to go out with pyjamas. She felt weird. She was always this serious person, she rarely and I'm saying, rarely, smiled. She couldn't ruin her image. At least that's what she thought.

She made her bed, which was a difficult activity as it was 4 in the morning and she felt like an actual zombie. After about five minutes of trying and getting the bed to be somewhat made, she made her way, to her desk to pick up a butterfly knife and out of the door.

The hallways were so quiet, given the fact that it was so early in the morning. Raven was walking slowly. She had never heard the building so silent. Can you even her silence? She was admiring the peacefulness of the dark windy night. As she was passing through the hallways, she started hearing things. Could it be the fact that she hadn't actually slept for three days? Maybe. Was she going crazy? She has no idea.

She heard someone cry. "What in the actual hell is going on today?" She cursed under her breath and walked closer to the noise. Step by step, she ended up in front of Sonya's door. She quietly knocked on the wooden door, and she was patiently waiting for an answer.

After two minutes of no reaction, she knocked again while calling Sonya's name as quietly as she could. The door slowly opened, and revealed the brown haired girl.

Raven looked at Sonya's glossy eyes. She pushed the door to open fully and she hugged her. The crying girl wrapped her arms around the older ones waist, and held her tightly, as she was sobbing.

"It's alright Sonya. Shh, it's alright." Raven tried to calm her down. She run her hands through her hair, massaging her head.

"Can I tell you a secret Sonya?" She spoke faintly. The girl's head shot up. Sonya looked at Raven, and nodded her head at her.

"I get them too."

"What?" Sonya didn't understand what Raven was impling.

"The nightmares. I get them too." She looked at Sonya straight in the eyes. There was a moment of silence. They both stared at each other. They understood each other. They both knew the reason they had those night terrors. He was a common enemy.

"Thank you Rave." The seven year old girl smiled at her friend.

"Always sweetheart." Sonya didn't deserve all that. She was in 'The Society' since she was three years old. She was too young. She didn't even know what happening, what they were doing. She just knew she was scared and in pain.

"Can you tuck me in?" She looked at Raven tired, as she walked to her bed. Raven checked her clock '4:19'.

"Yeah, come on." She pulled the brown fluffy blanket over the little girl.

"I'll turn off your alarm, okay? Sleep in today alright?" She softly spoke to her.

"Mhm. Goodnight Rave." Sonya closed her eyes and almost immediately, fell asleep.

"Goodnight Sonya." Raven walked silently out of the room and closed the door behind her.

It was currently seven in the morning and a number of people of the group, had already gotten up. In the time span of 2 hours, 39 minutes, and 41 seconds Raven had mopped the floors, cleaned the kitchen, counted every single gun in the armory, small note: a Beretta M9 was missing.

Whenever someone needs a gun from the armory, they notify one of the leaders. They did that in order to not die in here, and keep a somewhat calm environment.

She organized everything in her room. She even put her clothes in order by colour. She had done three laps around the whole facility, with an automatic shotgun, just because she was hearing things.

Right now she was sitting in a cafeteria table eating a peanut butter jelly sandwich. She felt someone sit beside her.

"Hello there stranger!"

"Hey Johnny." She nodded at the boy and took another bite of her breakfast.

"You look tired girl! Were you up all night?" He asked with that high pitched voice he did, just to annoy her.

"Yeah John. I was. But that's not the point."

"Nightmares again?" He asked concerned about his best friend. She hasn't slept well for a couple of days.

"Yeah. But, listen to me. I found something - Well actually, didn't find. That's the problem."

"Well.. Are you waiting for an invitation or something?? Say it!" He looked at her, searching for some answer in her eyes.

"I was counting the guns, in the armory. And a Beretta M9 was missing. Now. You know it couldn't have been an enemy, or something like that, because we would've killed them before they could even breathe." Her British accent came off strong.

"What are you impling Rave?" He looked at the girl next to him, dead in the eye. He knew the answer, he just need the confirmation.

"That someone from our group, took it.. And it's for no good reason." She leaned closer to him and whispered.

"We gotta tell Cassie! And find a way to settle this!" John said panicked, tripping on his own words.

"Don't worry, I'll find her right now. But, you don't tell anyone! We do not want to cause panic. We'll handle this quietly." She told him as she took her now, empty plate and stood up.

"Alright, alright. You need anything, you know where to find me." He nodded to the girl as she walked away and disappeared from his eye sigh.

Raven was walking - practically sprinting to Cassie's room. Finally her door was in Raven's vision.

"Cassie! Cassie, open the door!" She balled her fist and knocked on the door. It was about eight in the morning right now. Pretty much everyone was awake.

"What the actual hell, Raven!" The door opened and revealed a half asleep Cassandra, yawning, while wearing her famous 'Hello Kitty' pyjamas.

"Good morning princess." She smiled sarcastically and pushed the door open, as she walked into the small room. She sat herself down at the bed.

"So.. I have to tell you something."

"What, are you like in love with me or something?" Cassie laughed.

"Behave! Anyways, I checked the armory earlier and there was one gun missing. I think you know what I'm saying." Cassie nodded, in a way to say yes.

"Someone from here took it. I already told John. We'll handle this discreetly. No mistakes, no gossiping or anything like that." Raven rubbed her forehead.

"Okay. That's fine, we'll find out who it is in no time." Cassie told her and walked to her closet, to change.

"That's not the problem Cas. They could've taken it, to kill someone else. From here!" She said frustrated and scared for the safety of her people.

"I know! Raven, I know. We'll find him, before he does anything. You literally are Nancy Drew or some shit!" The older girl told her as she had put her clothes on.

Cassie walker over to Raven and sat down on the bed. She hugged her and kissed her forehead.

"You need sleep baby." Cassie looked at her best friend. If she kept going like this, she will end up insane.

"I know."
