Hey guys, how are you all, I'm your author writer_tee, I'm back with the new and main chapter of our book, 'What is Fanfiction?'

So after doing a lot of research about fanfiction, *sighs* It is really, really difficult to do research about fanfiction, and I found a lot of truths that I am going to share with you in this chapter.

You guys might ask me why we need a special chapter about fanfiction history

Believe me, we can not work properly if we do not know what we are working on. I am not sure how many of you believe this, but I do, and before I begin writing any book, I go through a lot of research. Although some may think it is a waste of time, it is essential. We simply cannot drive into it without knowing what we intend to do.

Though it is an art, we need to do a lot of research to understand what it is and how useful it can be for us. So let us get started with today's chapter, and do not forget to read the previous chapter because I mentioned a side note for you guys.

I hope this chapter helps you to improve yourself and learn something new. Remember to vote, share it with your friends, and leave comments. *winks*

Firstly, let's know what fanfiction actually means.

So, the true definition of fanfiction is fiction, in which a work is simply the essence of the original work, book, film, etc., and we work on those characters or celebrities. In today's terms, fanfiction is the work of a fan or fandom that creates a story plot based on their favourite characters or celebrities.

The only difference between those-day and now-day fanfics is the story plot. Yes, because fanfiction is not a modern or 20th-century phenomenon; it's from the early 17th century.

Yes, that is true. You may not believe me, but I searched more websites and blogs, and the majority of them showed the early 17th and 18th centuries, and you know why they wrote them—just for non-profit stories—and some use them as a practice. Unbelievable, right?

But it's true! The first fanfiction was "The Star Trek fanzine Spockanalia," which was published in the 1960s. That is how the fanfiction started. And how many of you are aware that the well-known series "After" originated as fanfiction for young adults? The "Fifty Shades of Grey" series began as fanfiction.

I believe the majority of those who were familiar with them were aware of this, but I was surprised to learn that these were fanfictional works. It is truly amazing. *claps*

Wattpad was one of many apps and websites that allowed us to share our fanfiction with the rest of the world. And on Wattpad, we have seen a variety of fanfiction writers working on it. There are many fandoms that are working on fanfictions.

And here we have our K-pop fandoms who work on them, which are becoming increasingly popular these days. Some authors write these FFs for free, while others do so as a hobby.

So, as I previously stated, the distinction is between before and now. Nonetheless, it is fanfiction, and there are numerous fandoms, including Harry Potter, anime, and K-pop. Some of us use our themes, while others create a story around the characters.

So, while we choose, we will make some changes, either in world-building (though the theme remains the same) or in character behaviour.

Writers who use themes have unique plots, as do those who choose characters from their favourite idols or celebrities. Most writers use the same plots and change the characters, so let us talk about plots and stories in the next chapter. I hope you enjoyed this small chapter.

Do not forget to vote, comment, and share with your friends!

See you in the next chapter!

Signing off✨.
