I walked outside to a little take-off the hill. I flapped my wings as I ran and took off. I
hadn't felt the feel of flying in a long time. I hovered in the air for a while as everyone else took off from the hill. We had a way to fly, almost 300 miles to the north. We started flying heading in the direction with our bags and we headed our way.

I feel like I hadn't flown this far ever since when I flew down from my old home. I saw
everyone else get really tired so I slowed down near a hill and sighed. I saw the others come down next to me and I opened my water bottle. We looked at each other.

"Ok, it's 10:00 am right now and if we take a 30-minute break here and a 15-minute break after 30 minutes of flying then we can get there by noon, " I explained to everyone.

"But what about on the way back? How long will be gathering food do you suppose?" Ruby asked. I thought, Yeah I do need to plan that as well...

"We will gather food for about 90 minutes and then head back at 1:00 pm. Sound good?" Ruby nodded and when I looked around I couldn't find Kymera anywhere. My feathers fluffed up a bit in a small fit of panic. Ruby walked over to me.

"Are you ok Bolty? Wait, where is Kymera?" Ruby wondered.

"I have no idea."

"What if she didn't see you land and kept flying!"

"Ohh nooo..."

"Hey, guys! I'm over here!"

I walked over to the sound of the voice and saw Kymera on the ground. "Owww, " She moaned. She was on the ground scratched up with bruises on her hands and knees.

"Oh my God, Kymera! Are you ok?" Ruby crouched down next to her and helped her up on her feet. She was still shaken.

"What happened?" I asked worryingly.

"I didn't land properly and fell, " Kymera responded. Her face was red with embarrassment. She stood up while fluttering her wings. Ruby hugged her.

"Well, I'm glad you are ok, " Ruby sighed. She helped patch up Kymera and we all rested for a while drinking and discussing the plan for going there and getting back. When we were all ready, we stood up and walked over to the hill I landed by. I ran down the hill with my wings flapping and legs running for as fast as I could and I started to flap into the air as I had before.

Now we are back on our flight, flying to the convention. After a while, I spot another hill and land by it.

"Look! There's the town!" Kymera points out. I saw even from the distance some other cosplayers dressed up as their favorite characters.

"Are we really doing this?" Kymera asked. I shared her fear and I led us down to the town preparing ourselves for anything.
