The group slows, completely out of breath. "Okay, does anyone know where to go next?" Lauren asks. "I remember reading that the monsters were sealed underground in a long cavern. The monsters probably built along the cavern, so if we just keep going forward, we should get out." Neko says. The group continues on in silence, soon reaching a room with a spike floor puzzle. "The western room is the eastern room's blueprint." Jen reads from a stone sign. After a few moments, Karma's face lights up and she runs back into the room they just left. She seems to be mumbling something under her breath as she races back to the eastern room. "Okay, you guys have to follow my exact movements. I don't want you getting hurt." She manages to get through the puzzle and her friends follow close behind. Then there's Neo. "Neo, what happened?" Karma asks. The extremely tall female shrugs. "I have no clue. I was right behind Lauren, then I got stuck here!" She exclaims.

"Okay, just follow my directions to the letter." She goes on explaining how Neo should get through. Neo gets through most of the puzzle. She's at the very end, just a step away from the others, when she sets her foot down wrong. A bloodcurdling scream resounds through the RUINS as spikes drive themselves through her foot. She falls forward, landing on the ground in front of her friends. The others start to panic as the blood pours through Neo's sneaker. Lauren kneels down beside her and gently grabs her foot, pulling off the soaked shoe. She closes her eyes and a light green glow surrounds her hands and the injured foot. The pain of the wound fades as it stops bleeding and closes back up. Everyone stares in shock before Kendal shakes her head. "Darling, how'd you do that?" She asks. Lauren just stares at her hands. "I have no idea. A boy's voice just started talking in my head and told me I could heal her foot. Did I finally go insane?"

"Sugar, you're a fangirl. You were already insane." Kendal says, drawing chuckles from her friends. "Children, are you okay? I heard screams." The elf says, suddenly reappearing at the other side of the puzzle. Emma and Jen share a glance and nod. Emma moves and grabs Neo by the shoulders while Jen picks her feet up. "Let's go!" Jen exclaims. The girls run out of the room, hiding with a bowl of Monster Candy as the elf goes right past the room. "Y'all know I can still run, right?" Neo says. "Sorry, but we don't know how good Lauren's healing is." Emma says while Jen nods in agreement.

"You know, I just came out here to have a good time and I feel personally attacked right now." Lauren says, waving away imaginary tears. The girls giggle until a sudden, "meow," is heard. "Neko, was that you? I know you got that headband, but that's a bit weird even for us." Kendal says as Neko frantically shakes her head. "No, that wasn't me!" She exclaims. The cat-eared girl looks around and jumps when she sees the frog-like creature behind her. The world turns dark and the buttons and the girls' souls appear.

*Froggit hops forward

"Flowey said gain a monster's love. Let's give it a shot." Kendal whispers. She hits the ACT button and looks at her options. She taps one and speaks. "Froggit, your fangs are so sparklingly white. What toothpaste do you use?" She asks. The others follow her example and compliment the monster. It attacks, but they seem weak.

*Froggit understands what you said completely and is now taken aback

"Yes! We're doing it! ... I think..." Kendal mumbles the last part under her breath. The group pays the frog monster another compliment each and it starts to blush. This time, the attacks fly away from the souls.

*Froggit feels bad for attacking you and is unsure of what to do

Kendal taps on the MERCY button and the monster's name has turned yellow. She spares the monster and the fight ends. Sheepishly, the Froggit approaches and rubs up against Neko's leg. She leans down and pets it, causing it to purr really loud. "We did!" Lauren cheers. "Okay, we should get going before that elf finds us again. Bye, Froggit. We'll see you again." Neko says as she and the others sneak away. They continue along in near silence, only talking when a monster named Whimsun tried to fight them, but ran away crying. Soon, they arrive at a small, tidy home at the end of the RUINS. A sparkling, bright yellow star shines next to the door and Kendal moves forward to inspect it. She pokes it and shrugs. "It seems safe." She whisper-yells to her friends. They all slowly approach it and, one by one, they touch it.

The girls exchange confused looks, but move on. "Okay, I think we have to go through this house to leave." Neko says. "Looks like we're criminals now." Emma whispers to Karma, who giggles quietly. Neo moves to the front and pushes on the door slightly, finding it unlocked. She waves for her friends to follow and she pushes the door wide open, ready for someone to attack them, but nobody does. They enter the house and a chill rubs down each girls' spine when someone speaks. "Oh, hello, children! So glad you could finally make it!" The elf from earlier seemingly materializes out of thin air, a bright smile on her face, but something about it felt... Off... "Would any of you like some pie?" She asks. Kendal, being the glutton she is, smiles and raises her hand. The fastest way to girl's trust is through her stomach. "Of course, my child. And since you seem to be the only one who wants any, I'll see that you get an extra large piece." She begins to walk away before pausing. "Oh, before I forget, my name is Zoey, caretaker of these RUINS and your new mother." With that, she disappears into another room.

"Kendal!! Don't take food from strangers!!" Emma whisper-yells as she slaps her cousin on the back of the head. The blue-eyed girl pouts as she rubs her head. Emma sighs and turns away, causing Kendal to stick her tongue out at her cousin. "Okay, fine. I won't eat the pie." Kendal grumbles when Emma turns back. "Good, now let's go see how we can leave." The group follows after the elf, Zoey, and end up in a kitchen. "Greetings, children. Is there something that you need?" Zoey asks when she notices them. "Yes, there is, Miss Zoey. We want to know how to leave. We're not supposed to be here and we wanna go home." Kendal says. Zoey takes a step back in surprise. "Home...? My children, this is your home now. Come, let us have some butterscotch-cinnamon pie." She tries to get the girls to sit down at the table, but they stand their ground. "Miss Zoey, we want to leave. Please tell us how to leave." Kendal says in a forceful tone.

Zoey's gaze darkens as she pushes past the girls. "Stay here. I must attend to something." And she's gone, climbing down a flight of stairs. The girls follow after her, listening to her explain why they can't leave. Completely idiotic reasons about 'that weed being dangerous' and 'mother knows best'. They reach the end of the corridor and a door appears, Zoey in front of them. "This is your last chance. Go upstairs and eat your pie, like the good children you are." She says as she turns around. The humans remain and the world darkens.

"...?" Zoey seems to question herself as she throws another attack. A few rogue fireballs singe the ends of Lauren and Neko's hair and small of portion of a sleeve on Karma's shirt.

"No! I was wrong! Humans don't deserve mercy!" She yells.

"So... Just stop it already! Don't make this harder than it has to be!" Her attacks were much, much weaker and they seemed to be purposefully missing the girls.

"Miss Zoey, please. We want to help you, but we can't if we're stuck here." Kendal says, her expression one of pure determination. "Help us?! Ha! Monsters are trapped underground because of your people! How am I to think you're any better?!" The elf yells. Suddenly, Lauren pushes past Kendal, her eyes glazed over. "Mom, do you remember all your other children? They never laid a hand on another soul. Trust us like you trusted them." Her green soul was pulsing, sending waves of neon green light through the darkness. Zoey seems startled that Lauren knew about the past, but her features soften as she seems to recognize something within the green-souled girl. The world around them returns to normal. "Children, I am so sorry. Please forgive me." The elf drops to knees, attempting to muffle her sobs by clamping her hand over her mouth. Without a second thought, Lauren hugs the crying woman and the other girls follow her lead. Soon, the sobbing is reduced to soft, sad laughing.

"Children, you should leave. Before I change again. I love you all so much." The motherly figure gives the girls one last squeeze before standing up and leaving. Just as the girls are about to leave, a glint catches Kendal's eye. "Guys, hang on a sec." The group pauses as Kendal moves back and picks up the sparkling object. "It's a phone." She says, bringing it back to the group. "A really old one." Jen says, noticing that it's a flip phone. She grabs it from Kendal and opens it. "There's only one contact. It's under the name 'Mom'. I bet you that it's Zoey's number." The girls nod in agreement and finally leave, Jen tucking the phone in the waistband of her basketball shorts. They meet back up with Flowey, who decides to stay with them by wrapping his roots around Kendal's arm. They walk a bit and soon, find a huge door. Neo, still being the most courage out of then, pushes it open and they step through.
