H: Hydrogen is the first element on the periodic table. In many cases, it it considered to be the first element.

Sorrel exited the math room and ran to catch up with Cassia.

"Do you have band next?" Sorrel asked. Cassia nodded. The two went to the locker bay and got out they've band binders, before heading to the cafeteria. The band room was right next to the cafeteria and in second lunch you could hear the band play. Cassia played the french horn, while Sorrel played percussion. Sorrel went and grabbed her drum sticks. Jasmine, the only other female percussionist, was already there.

"Hey Jazz." Sorrel said. Jordie came in, followed by Alex.

"I think we have the same schedule" Jordie said as he entered the precision section. Sorrel laughed. Jordie always made her laugh. Kayden squeezed his way past the base drum.

"I swear its getting more packed every year." Kayden said. Indeed, the sector was jam packed with Timpani, Snare drums, Timbales, Bongos, two drum sets, xylophones, and tambourines.       Mr. Xavier entered, and he class quieted down.

"Lets warm up with the ten major scales..."

Sorrel pulled open her locker and grabbed her science notebook. Mr. Calawen was a tall, bearded man with short brown hair. Sorrel entered the classroom, looking around at all the eighth graders. She nervously found her seat, and relaxed, realizing that Mike, the only other seventh grader, was right next to her. He too looked scared, and so Sorrel handed him a paper frog. Mike was the next person Sorrel wanted to see if he could do Atom. She made a mental note to ask him at lunch.

"Today were going to be talking about the first element on the periodic table, Hydrogen." Mr. Calawen said. He handed out blue colored papers, and when Sorrel saw them she saw that it was a quiz on Hydrogen.

"Just to see what you know. Go." Sorrel quickly filled in most of the answers, skipping over a few that she was unsure about. After she finished the rest, she returned to #9. In your opinion, was the use of the hydrogen bomb in WW3 effective? State why using your knowledge of nuclear fusion. Sorrel filled it in as best as she could, and then waited until the entire class had finished. The rest of the period was spent talking about what they would be learning this year, and classroom requirements. Then it was time for lunch. Sorrel, Cassia and Mike took the lunches outside and sat under a large willow tree that shaded a pond.

"How was science?" Asked Cassia. Cassia hadn't been able to get into the Adv. Science.

"Fine." Sorrel said. She ate her sandwich. A leaf fell on her Cheese and Tomato. Sorrel picked it up and showed it to Mike.

"Watch" Sorrel focused on it, and turned it into water. Mike stared.

"How????? Wait. What?" Sorrel tried to explain the best she could. The bell rang, and they walked together to the locker bay. The three of them headed to Language Arts, and began to work on the grammar exercise.

"We can talk freely after school. Same tree." Cassia said as she filled in another blank. Sorrel nodded and focused her attention on Mr. Blue. He was handing out the classroom requirements, and So she tried her best to listen. Sorrel had never felt good with grammar. She remembered when she's misspelled paper as papur. Spelling and Grammar. They were given time to read, so Sorrel read the first part of the sequel to The Storm Over Sharo: The Stormbearer. Emma saw that she was reading that and came over.

"If you like The Storm series, I'd recommend The Throne Of Light. Its written by the same author. Also, The third book in the Storm Comes out next week. The Final Storm"

"Thanks Emma. I'll see if the library has is." Sorrel said, smiling. In her head,  something clicked. A question she'd been asking for days. What was Atom?
