Gauri

"Anika, how am I looking?" Anika glanced at Gauri through the mirror, who was standing at the door of her room. She was wearing a royal blue knee length lacy dress.

Anika turned around and grinned at her cousin.

"Totally khidkitood!" Anika chirped and Gauri grinned back her at.

They both were getting ready for Anika's college fest. At first Gauri wasn't sure if she should wear formal or informal. Frankly she had never been to a college fest, that too of somewhere outside her own country. But Anika informed her that her college fest was going to be more of a town celebration so she could wear anything.

Anika adjusted her choker and took out her phone.

"We are both looking so pretty! Let's click some selfies," she said excitedly.

Gauri has always been more of a best friend than a cousin to her. When young, they have always been inseparable. Every summer Anika would go to India to meet Gauri and her family members but this year Gauri had finished her college and decided to visit Anika instead.

They both got out of the house. Sam, Anika's neighbour and also her batch mate was waiting for them, leaning against his black Mercedes.

"Ready Sam?" Anika asked.

"Yeah- oh wow," Sam almost hitched his breath when he saw Gauri. She was looking so pretty.

Suddenly he clutched his chest and his steps began to tremble. This scared the girls to the core. They has no idea what to do.

"Sam! Are you ok?" "Should I call the ambulance?" The girls asked worriedly.

"Y-yeah I guess. G-Gauri.." he managed to say between short breaths.

"Yes Sam what happened? Are you ok? You are scaring me," Gauri asked as she grabbed his upper arm to give him support. Anika was holding his left arm.

"Gauri..your exquisite beauty is killing me," he said and pushed all his body weighed on girls holding him thinking they will catch him but they freed his hands making him fall freely on the street.

"You bloody idiot! You almost scared us!" Anika yelled at him and kicked him as Sam sat on the street, trying to catch his breath while laughing hysterically.

"Ouch women you are breaking my bones!"
Sam said between his laughing and painful moans.

"Serves you right!"

Anika glared down as him, while Gauri felt something between awkwardness and slight embarrassment. It was not the first time Sam did that. Since the moment she came he wasn't shy to show that he was interested in her but he always choose the funny way to show that.

"C'mon Anika, now don't be jealous babe. You will always be my first true love," Sam said jokingly as he got up. Both the girls rolled there eyes at him.

"Seriously Sam. You should have not don't that. It scared us," Gauri said softly.

Sam pouted. He was cute, she had to admit but she wasn't sure if she liked him.

"Sorry Gauri. Please forgive me," Sam said in small voice.

"Forgive and forgotten," Gauri said as she winked and chuckled lightly.

The fest was huge, Gauri had to admit. Anika was Incharge of some African Vine stall and some idiot had bought monkey to the stall who scratched out all of Anika's decorative vines so she had to leave immediately. It left Gauri and Sam alone.

There was a huge dancing floor in the middle of the fest decorated with fairy lights.

"Gauri would you like to dance with me?" Sam asked as he stretched his hand out to her.

Gauri was taken back. She was sure what to do. She wasn't sure if she wanted to dance but with the intensity that Sam was looking at her she wasn't sure how to refuse. She was about to hold sam's hand when a man suddenly came.

"Sam dude Mr Cullen is calling you," he said.

"What? But why?" Sam sounded a little irritated.

"Something is wrong with the stall lightning," the boy said.

"But I am not even the head of the lightning man!" Sam frowned.

"I don't know dude. But Mr Cullen is calling you."

Sam groaned before looking at Gauri with disappointment in his eyes.

"I am sorry Gauri but I have to go,"

"It's ok," Gauri said.
Sam gave her a sad smile before disappearing into the crowd with the boy.

Gauri was all alone now and something didn't feel right to her. It was strange feeling in her gut that she couldn't describe.

"Hey," suddenly she felt someone's hot breath on her neck. Chill ran down her spine. Turned her head to see the most beautiful man that ever walked on the face of earth.

"H-hey," Gauri suddenly forgot how to breath.

The man smiled at her, and oh god was it not the most beautiful smile she had even seen. His face was perfection. Chiseled by the god himself. Sharp jaw, gorgeous lips- shut it Gauri! She suddenly mentally slapped herself. How could she harbour such thoughts about a stranger! It was just not right!

"Are you new here?" He asked.

"Oh no, I don't study here. I am just here for the fest." She said constantly trying to look anywhere but him. Looking at his face made her feel butterflies in stomach and mind in gutter. She wanted to smack herself.

"Very well. You have really pretty eyes I must say," Omkara said with a loop sided grin but his eyes held sincerity. Like he meant every single word he said.

"T-thank you." His gaze was intimidating. She never felt so conscious of her ever.

Suddenly Gauri's attention diverted to the music in background. It was 'it's gonna be love' by Mandy Moore.

"You like this song," he asked.

"I love it," Gauri said instinctively. Omkara smirked at her before bowing down in front of her making her gasp in surprise.

"May I have the honour of joining you for dance miss?" He asked stretching his hand to her in the most gentlemanly way. She could not stop blushing.

"Yes," she said without thinking twice and grabbed his hand. Omkara winked at her one last time before taking her to the dance floor. He pulled her body close against his, she could feel his toned muscles of his chest under his waist coat and shirt. Her stomach tied into knots and feeling of euphoria ran over her body. This feeling was so alien to her.

They danced very slowly like they had all the time in to world to themselves. His hands were holding her waist so lightly that she felt like she was made of glass.

"Are you staying here in hotel?" He asked.

"No. I am staying with my cousin," she answered.

"Good," he said with his signature smile.

"I want to talk about something very important to you. I'll send my car to your cousin's house tomorrow at 7 PM," he said.

To say that she was shocked by this question of his would be an understatement. She was astonished.

"Why do you think I'll come?" She asked.

He chuckled so lightly that she almost missed it.

"Actually I don't. But it will be my pleasure if you do. I want to make a contract with you that you won't be able to refuse," he replied.

"Contract? But about what?" She inquired.

"You will have to come to get to know," he said. Then he took her hand his and bought it to his lips to kiss it lightly.

"I'll have to go now. I'll wait for you tomorrow." Omkara said before realising his grip on Gauri and walking away.

Gauri kept standing there though, staring at his disappearing figure, trying to contemplate what just happened.
