I woke the next morning to a white camp, padded out and my paws went cold. I knew leaf bare had come early and there was no fresh kill pile. I hissed in frustration and went back into the Warriors den, I knew I had to gather a hunting patrol.
"Hollywing, Scarletclaw, Swiftlight come with me we need to hunt," I said waking them up, we went into the snow covered forest. I found a hole that was used my mice, I dug down and found a family of them. I quickly killed them all and sat them on the snow counting six mice total, I than caught a squirrel and took them back to camp. In total all of us had caught; 15 mice, 4 squirrels, 2 pigeons and 5 voles. This filled the fresh kill pile and Thislestar was proud of our work, this made me proud to be deputy. I took two mice to the elders den, what I saw made me drop them. Bumbleleap was laying motionless on his side, I quickly put the mice aside. I dragged his body out and the clan looked on in shock, I put his body in the middle of camp.
"He was a brave warrior and served this clan well when he was a warrior, he will be remembered," Thislestar said her voice sad. It was the first time I had seen her almost cry, I sat beside Bumbleleaps body to grieve the dead elder.
"Leaf bare has not been kind to him," Scarletclaw said her gaze distant, I looked where she was looking and saw his ghost. I also saw my mothers soul, she gave me a nod and I nodded back. They dissapeared and I knew they were in starclan, I looked back at Bumbleleaps body. Soon we buried him and let his body rest, Thislestar had been Bumbleleaps sister. I knew she grieved for him greatly, she had no family anymore just like me. I went to my nest to think, soon I fell asleep.
