Chapter Eleven 

everything is changing,

3rd person pov 

"howd you sleep?" ivy asked kamari who stared at the ceiling and shrugged her shoulders. she didn't know what to say or do. ivy came and laid down next to her as they watched the ceiling. ivy hugged her daughter and kamari hugged her back 

"i don't know, i didn't go to sleep" she stated and then she heard her phone ring. she looked over to see that it was dick and she sighed 

"boy wonder?" she asked and kamari laughed as she grabbed the phone and looked at her mom 

"duty calls kam, just know your limits" she told her and she got up from the bed. she watched her daughter leave the room and she looked out of the window to see kamari letting her vines bring her to wayne manor. when she got there, she was let in automatically and she walked downstairs 

"thank you all for coming on such short notice" he said and he looked at kamari. she looked like she hadn't slept in days, weeks, months or years but that's because that's what she felt like. when she closed her eyes, it wasn't deathstroke anymore. it was the joker and him murdering jason. it was her losing him over and over again 

"yeah anytime dickolas" she said and dick laughed and shook his head 

"new nickname, i like it" he said and she shrugged 

"well since everything is changing, your nickname should too" she stated and he sighed. he knew that the was her way of coping. 

"anyways, i appreciate you for coming but i should warn you you're not in san francisco. this city breeds a special class of criminal. people die here, not just regular people, people like us. i don't want to lose anyone else" dick said and kamari sighed. she knew that they were talking about her mom but ivy wasn't a villain or a criminal. she was handed the wrong thing at the wrong time in the wrong place and she didn't know how to handle it. 

"don't worry, we know how to handle this. you're family, wed never let you or kam do this alone" dawn said and kamari smiled gratefully at her 

"can we see the batsuit?" corner asked 

"no" dick laughed 

"the bat mobile?" gar tried 

"guys" kory said 

"what? he made me ask" conner said and kamari laughed and shook her head 

"there will enough time for that but right now we have to focus on the task at hand. words out in gotham that batmans gone , news like that travels fast, so we'll have our hands full. get some food, get some rest , could be a long night" he said and kamari nodded before she heard her mom and she sighed 

"are you safe?" ivy asked 

"yeah mom" she said forgetting where she was. 

"I'm sorry, mom?" dawn asked 

"there's a tracker that i have. she can talk to me through it" she stated and gar stared 

"you and your mom are talking to each other?" he asked and she nodded. she looked around and sighed 

"i had nowhere to go but i had to get out of the tower so i went home, i went to my mom. she let me in, shes been taking care of me" she stated 

"i thought you ran away" kory said and kamari nodded 

"i did before i realized that going home would've been the smartest thing for me" she said and she went and sat down. gar sat with her and she ran her hand through her hair as she looked around and sighed. she didn't know what to do, she didn't want to be here. it felt like she was invading the one place jason didn't want her to be. he didn't show her this place for a reason, he didn't bring her there for a reason and yet there she stood. 

"I'm going to walk around" she said and she began to walk around. soon enough, she got to jasons room and she pushed open the door as she walked in. there on his sidetable was a picture of her, he truly believed that they would be okay. he would come back to her and they would fix everything once he found out who he was and what he wanted. 

"oh jaybird, i wish you didn't die" she exclaimed as she sat on the edge of his bed and she looked around. everything felt like jason, the smell, the clothes, the air and everything. it all felt like jason and she didn't know what to do. 

"mari, you in here?" she heard and she looked up to see gar standing in the doorway. she stood up and walked over 

"this was jasons room" he said as he looked around and she nodded 

"i just hope he felt comfortable here before everything. i don't know what happened but i know that jason just wanted to proof himself to anyone. bruce, dick, the titans , me. he just wanted to prove that he meant something. that he was someone and if he did prove that, maybe they would let him be a titan. maybe they wouldn't shut him out like everyone else" she said and gar sighed 

"you think he died trying to prove himself?" he asked and she nodded with a sigh 

"its not that i think, its that i know. i know that's what he was trying to do, i know that's what he wanted to do" she said and he nodded. they walked out of his room and she turned the light off as she walked out of the room and closed the door. she didn't want anyone in there if jason didn't want them in there. it was his safe space, his home. 

she didn't leave the house with the others, she stayed there and held it down making sure that nothing happened. she wasnt scared of something happening

until something did happen. and she wasnt there for it. 

what would she do now?
