CHARACTER ARC:  Yara Rasheed was born to a mother and a father in Miami, Florida. She has a younger brother and is very close with her family. After many medical scares and bullying issues, her parents moved her to a new school in California, where her father also found a new job in his field of work. Everything was smooth sailing, until she made friends with someone named Yasmine who turned out to be a mean girl. She stayed friends with Yasmine's friend, Samantha, but drama had already begun by then, and suddenly, everyone at the school was starting to take karate.
  Yara had taken Tae Kwon Do when she was in middle school and she was a black belt in it, so when she decided to take karate for self-defense at Miyagi-Do during the summer, she already had a lot of experience. Unfortunately, things heated up during the summer and a fight broke out at school on the first day back, leading Yara's parents to pull her out of school and make her stop taking karate. She took a break during the winter, but decided that she wanted to start doing it again when Miyagi-Fang (Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence's adjoined dojo) agreed to a tournament with Cobra Kai (John Kreese's dojo that had been restarted by Johnny). She trained on her own and defended her friends against bullies despite how much damage it was doing to her body, but she eventually became stronger and healthier when she started taking care of herself.
  When it was revealed that Cobra Kai won the tournament by cheating, Yara decided to get involved.

PERSONALITY AND CHARACTER ANALYSIS: Yara Rasheed is a creative, loyal, and emotional individual. Despite sometimes wearing her heart on her sleeve, she is often stoic and difficult to read, which she occasionally uses to her advantage, especially during a physical fight. Though she has been trained to have control over her body and mind, her emotions tend to get the best of her. This typically leads to her being taken advantage of, allowing herself to be dragged into situations that she is not meant to be involved in, leaving herself vulnerable in dire situations, or the escalation of conflict on her part.
Her strong use of words and occasional sass are helpful sometimes, but most of the time they get her into trouble. She has a tendency to be gullible due to her intense emotions and sometimes sheltered life, but she is getting better at protecting herself and learning how to read people better. She is very protective of people whom she cares about and will do whatever it takes to keep them safe. Though she can sometimes be closed off, she is usually open to new relationships, wants to help people, and has a generally happy demeanor.
