Hazel's eyes warily blinked open and she felt a pounding pain in her head. She wasn't inside the cell anymore, yet she was in what looked to be a futuristic airport looking place. A hologram shimmered to life in front of them and hazel jumped back.

"Welcome prisoners, traitors, or whoever else you might be. Welcome to The Coliseum! The virtual yet very realistic battleground of the mind. Here you will each be faced with your worst nightmare or a disaster scenario which you will have to survive. Dying here means death in the real world, surviving means freedom. No one has ever survived. You will know you've survived and ultimately cheated death when, in the last challenge, you find the Obsidian Eye, the key to going back to reality. You can choose to go any one place and you're whole team will be teleported there. But, this is only after you've fought for your freedom, but for the hundreds of years this has happened, no one has won. Best of luck to all of you competitors. Oh, and do make it interesting, the audience does love a show. If it's too boring, don't worry, we'll take it up a notch."

The hologram of the man shimmered away and the world went black before they were in a new location.

The hair was dense and gray and the horizon was dark. There was a lot of talking and shouting and the old structure was covered in dirt and gunpowder. Hazel looked down and saw her outfit had changed, she was wearing an old World War II uniform. Oh no.

The hologram reappeared, "Welcome to the first challenge, probably the easiest one. A true World War II battle simulation. Survive the battle and you move in to the next challenge. You will have twenty minutes to prepare. Oh, and do note that all pain felt is real. Every bullet wound and has filled breath. Enjoy!"

"What are we going to do!" Cory spoke the first words and gripped the helmet on his head, "we can't handle school pressure! Never mind war!"

Hazel exchanged a nervous glance with Jacob and sighed. This could be the end for all of us. She thought to herself. If this was the easiest challenge, who knew what else would come.

"Listen guys," kade stood up and held his gun tightly in his hand, "we don't have a choice here. We have to stick together and win this, or else we're not the only ones dead. Any resistance or rebellion will need our help, now let's stop giving death what he wants and let's live. Let's survive."
