Chapter 14 part 1

Alex woke up to see the hotel room dark and Gabriel and Leo no where to be found. “Leo? Gabriel?” Alex stood up and grabbed her gun from under her pillow, cocking it just in case.

“Hello.” Alex whirled around and pointed her gun at the new voice. “No need to point that gun at me, it won’t work anyway.” Alex recognized the voice to be Lucifer’s and slowly lowered the gun as he walked towards her from the shadows.

“What do you want? And where is everyone?” Alex narrowed her eyes.

         “You’re dreaming.”

"You can come into my dreams?!” Alex put her gun down on a bureau. (A/N bureau is a fucking weird word man)

        “Of course.” Lucifer said matter-of-factly.

“Why didn’t you just come see me in real life? Or just talk mentally?”

“Wanted something different I suppose.” Lucifer shrugged.

“Okay. What are you here for?” Alex crossed her arms.

“Well you didn’t do a very good job protecting Famine.” Lucifer pointed out.

         Alex laughed awkwardly, “Oh yeah….that…”

“And you’re still working with the Winchesters.”

“Yeah, yeah, I know, you want me to stop and rule by your side.” Alex mocked and rolled her eyes.

         “No, actually.”

“What?” Alex lowered her arms back to her sides and raised an eyebrow.

“Continue playing both sides, just to see what happens.” Lucifer ordered, looking at her thoughtfully.

         “Seriously?”

“Yes. Although I still don’t believe being so close to my brother is a good thing.”

“Yeah, whatever.” Alex ignored him. “We done?”

“One last thing, soon, Death will be rising the dead in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Don’t interfere.” Lucifer warned, a threatening tone in his voice.

“Why would I- wait. That’s where Bobby lives!” Alex exclaimed.

“Do not go there.” Lucifer warned again. “I think you’ve already learned what happens if you don’t listen, right?”

'“I bet you don’t treat Death this way.” Alex huffed, recrossing her arms. “But fine. They’ll be able to handle it anyway….Can I actually sleep now?”

'“Fine.” Lucifer agreed, then disappeared. But instead of being able to sleep, Alex woke up.

“What time is it?” Alex rubbed her eyes and sat up lazily.

“It’s two am. Why are you up?” Gabriel looked at her questioningly.

“Uhn.” Alex pulled the blanket over her head as she flopped down onto the pillow again. “Angels shouldn’t be allowed to enter dreams and shit.” Her voice was slightly muffled.

         “What happened?”

Alex groaned a little as Leo jumped up on the bed and landed on her stomach. “Nothing really. Just Lucifer checking in.” She shrugged, removing the blanket from her face.

“Is he making you do anything?” Gabriel asked.

“I don’t really think I should be talking about it.” Alex muttered.

“Well is it anything bad?” Gabriel pushed.

“No, just more of the same.” Alex shook her head.

“Okay?” Gabriel drew out the ‘y’.

“Don’t worry about it.” Alex assured. “So what have you been doing?” She pushed Leo aside and stood up, walking across the room to sit across from Gabriel at the table.

         “Nothing really.” Gabriel shrugged.

         “Sounds fun.” Alex said sarcastically.

“Oh, yes, very.” Gabriel agreed. Alex chuckled and shook her head. “So...What now?” Gabriel changed the subject.

“Another hunt maybe?” Alex suggested. “I have no idea really….” Although I’d kinda like to check on the guys...Just in case.

“Why’d you decide to be a hunter anyway?” Gabriel asked.

“Well. I don’t know. I guess I just like helping people….I guess that’s weird considering I’m half demon.” Alex thought.

“No, not really.” Gabriel shook his head.

Alex shrugged, “Whatever. What do you want to do?”

         “Me? I don’t know.”

“No, not you, Leo.” Alex sneered, turning to the hellhound. “Huh? What do you wanna do bud?” Alex patted Leo’s head.

“You think he’ll answer you?” Gabriel chuckled.

“You let him tell you directions on how to find me, remember?” Alex pointed out, Leo barked.

“Yeah, true. How are you doing by the way?”

“You ask a lot of questions.” Alex avoided his worried look and continued petting Leo.

“It’s cause I’m worried about you.” Gabriel frowned, getting serious.

“Well, I’m fine, Gabriel. It was only two days, it’s not like I was in hell or anything.” Alex insisted.

“It was close enough.” Gabriel stressed.

“Still, I’m okay, really...You can stop worrying about me, I can handle myself you know.” Alex smiled a little.

         “Yeah, I know.” Gabriel sighed.

Alex chuckled, “You’re worse than my father, and you know how bad he gets.”

“Hey, I’m not that bad!” Gabriel defended himself.

 ~Almost 3 weeks later~

Alex looked up from her computer and grabbed her phone that was ringing, “Hello?”

“Hey! Alex!” Sam sounded urgent on the other end of the line.

“Sam..? Are you alright?” Alex asked, and Gabriel looked over from the T.V.

“Not really, there’s a lot of demons and we could use your help!” Sam sounded like he was fighting.

“Uh…” Alex quickly got up and put on her boots, struggling with one hand, “Ok, where are you?” She finished tying them and grabbed her jacket.

“Blue Earth, Minnesota.” The call started to break up.

“Ok, I’ll be there in a second!”  Alex hung up and shoved her phone in her pocket.

“What’s going on?” Gabriel asked, standing up.

“Sam and Dean have a demon issue they need help with, I’ll be back soon, it shouldn’t be too hard.” Alex explained.

“Want me to come?” Gabriel offered.

“No, that’d be awkward, I’ll be fine.”

         “Alright. Be careful.” Gabriel warned.

“I always am.” Alex smirked and teleported to the Winchesters.

 ~

“Drive faster Dean!” Sam held his wounded shoulder.

“I can’t!” Dean yelled back. “Are you okay?!”

         “Yeah, I’m amazing.” Sam panted.

“You ever see that many?!” Dean glanced back.

         “No, not in one place.”

“When you said demons, I didn’t think you meant that many!” Alex exclaimed, worriedly looking out the rear view mirror. The Impala’s tires screeched as they sharply turned onto another road, only to stop as a flaming truck stood in their path.

“Damn it!” Dean tried to turn the car around, but a demon broke through the window and grabbed him, two others on Sam and Alex.

Suddenly, the demons let go and began to scream as they were sprayed with holy water from somewhere. Oh shit. Alex moved to the other side of the back seat, but she still got sprayed and hissed in pain. “Holy water?!”

The three watched in surprise, mixed with some horror, as a man began to chant something in enochian. “Well that’s something you don’t see everyday…” Dean commented.

They got out of the Impala and Alex tried to act casual as she touched the holy water soaked door to close it. If these guys are hunters, I’m fucked if they think I’m a demon.

“You three alright?” A man walked over holding a gun.

“Peachy…” Dean nodded, him and Sam still shaken up.

“Be careful, it’s dangerous around here.” The man advised.

“Woah, woah, woah, wait!” Dean closed the front car door and ran around the car to catch up to the man.

“No need to thank us,” The man waved Dean off.

“No, hold up a sec! Who are you?”

“We’re the Sacrament Lutheran Militia.” He answered.

“I’m sorry, the what?” Dean asked.

“I hate to tell you this, but those were demons and this is the apocalypse. So, buckle up.”

 ~

Alex followed Sam and Dean to the trunk of the Impala where Dean showed the man that they too, were hunters. “Looks like where in the same line of business.” Sam observed.

“Yeah, and among colleagues. That’s a police issued shotgun,” Dean pointed to the man’s weapon. “And that truck is uh, inspired. Where’d you guys pick up all this crap?”

“You know, you pick things up along the way.” Another guy answered.

“Guys, this whole corner of the state is nuts with demon omens. We just wanna help, that’s all.” Dean assured.

“We’re on the same team,” Sam added. “Just talk to us.”

The three men shared a look, then the one with the gun said, “Follow us.”

 ~

Alex noticed the devil’s trap blocking the only entrance to the church as they pulled up, “Uhm. Sam, Dean...How do I avoid the devil’s trap they have there?”

Sam and Dean shared a look, “Be careful?” Dean offered.

“Oh thanks, great advice.” Alex rolled her eyes then looked at the trap. She narrowed her eyes slightly and made a small break in the circle, big enough for her to be able to pass through it, but also small enough for no one to notice. That’ll work, maybe….

She trailed behind the brothers, biting her lip worriedly as she crossed over the devil’s trap. Alex let out a sigh of relief as she didn’t get trapped but instantly tensed up again as they entered the church. Ok, now this is all kinds of wrong. I shouldn’t be in a church! She noticed a few people in the aisle seats held shotguns, which she assumed were full of salt rounds.

She stood beside Dean as Sam commented on how some people were getting married, and one of the guys from before, Paul, told them it was the eighth that week. Alex looked down at her wet tank top, which was covered in holy water. She wanted to just make it dry, but knew that would be a bad idea. So instead, Alex suffered in silence as the cold cloth pressed up against her stomach, burning badly.

“So, Rob tells me you three hunt demons?” The pastor asked, when they went outside.

         “Uh, yes sir.” Sam nodded.

“You missed a few,” He commented.

“Yeah, tell us about it.” Sam chuckled. “Any idea why they’re here?”

The pastor shook his head, “They sure seem to like us though. ”Follow me.”

The three followed him back into the church where Dean asked, “So, you’re a preacher?”

         “Not what you expected, huh?”

         “Well, dude, you’re packing.”

“Strange times…” He opened the doors and the four entered a room full of people packing salt rounds, and making holy water. Alex continued to worry, not sure if she could take on an entire town full of makeshift hunters, where even the kids were fighting.

“A whole town full of hunters? I don’t know whether to run screaming or buy a condo.” Dean commented. Alex chuckled a bit at the thought of Dean running from town, screaming like a baby.

“Well, the demons were killing us. We had to do something.”

“So why not call the National Guard?” Sam suggested.

“We were told not to.” The pastor said.

“By who?” Alex added herself to the conversation.

The pastor stayed silent for a few moments. “C’mon padre, you’re as locked and loaded as we’ve ever seen. And that exorcism was enochian. Someone’s telling you something.”
