௹detailed personality description௹

-rhadamanthus is a very wise canine, though not just because he is an older dog. since his puphood, the grey male had always carried with him a sense of maturity and wisdom far beyond his years. the male is quite educated and his sense of understanding goes far beyond that of the average dog, he seems to know what needs to be done before anyone tells him, he has insane self-control, and he is very patient. even when the dog is at his lowest points, he keeps a cool head and allows himself to learn from his mistakes, and when dealing with other canids, the presa canario always gives them their own time to make and learn from their mistakes and never scolds. he listens to directions and will follow out orders the best he can, rarely without question, he only refuses a command when it is given to him by someone lower ranking, if its not very clear, or if it doesn't align with his morals. his knowledge of the way the world works and how to react is hardly matched, though partly due to his age, the other due to the fact that in his younger years, he was more attentive than most firecrackers his age and he learned from his superiors sooner than most.

-this male is a pretty forceful dog, he knows what he wants and he knows in order to get it, he can't sit back on his haunches and beg. and while he isn't necessarily violent, he isn't soft either, usually his force comes in the form of psychological warfare, and includes tactics like reverse psychology, gaslighting and his knowledge of the canine and using that to extract their biggest fears and weaknesses. and though rhadamanthus is a rather large canine, standing at a little over twenty-seven inches tall and weighing one hundred and thirty-fiveish pounds, due to selective breeding. he doesn't like to use his size and fighting experience on other canines, especially because he is older and has issues with arthritis and worsening hip/elbow dysplasia. and also because he doesn't ever intend to hurt or maim a creature if he doesn't have to, not that that doesn't mean he will hesitate to put another dog in their place if they are behaving out of line, he has no problem doing that, but he would rather not.

-rhadamanthus is a determined and serious individual, he is never without a goal in mind and he will always work towards that goal without being easily sidetracked. the canario is very goal-oriented, so if he has nothing to put his time and energy towards, than he may as well do nothing, however, the male combats this behavior by being certain to have a goal, whether it be something small and rather unsubstantial, but as long as it motivates him, then it is essentially guaranteed to be completed. and while it is nearly impossible to see this dog having fun or even having a doggy-smile on his face, this dog, though very serious, becomes entirely different off-duty, though he makes himself quite scarce at that time. the brindled canid can be compared to a machine, he is efficient and hard-working and will always complete any task given to him.

௹likes௹

-snow; though it may seem that a large dog with short fur wouldn't find cold, wet snow to be one of his favorite things, rhadamanthus would be an exception. he likes the cold sting of the tiny particles against his skin and he loves that when he jumps in piles of it, it flies out from under his paws. snow can kill or it can save, much like the dog himself.

-extensive training; rhadamanthus, though older, loves to feel the stretch and pull of his muscles as he leaps and bites and works. he enjoys the feeling of strength in his steps, in his jaws, in his shoulders, his legs, just everywhere. being in such good shape has helped him to retain the figure, athleticism and strength of a younger version of himself. and while he has lost a considerable amount of muscle tone due to his age, it couldn't even be noticed by those who don't know the dog well.

-barking; this canine, though many would find this habit annoying, rhadamanthus likes to bark, he loves the sound of his deep, growling bark as it resonates into a clear sky, or any area. he loves the ringing it leaves behind, and he likes the feeling of unity that comes from adding his voice to the voices of others. the male's bark is so loud and ferocious, it can be compared to a viking war cry, and many could see the sound as such, with this dog, especially in training, his angry, rolling barks are a signal that he isn't messing around and his opponent should deeply consider turning tail and booking it far, far away.

௹dislikes௹

-guns; rhadamanthus knows the power of such devices, and though his hearing isn't near as good as it used to, he can feel the vibrations of such aids through the air and in the ground. he hates their foul smell and the fact that they can put an enemy down from several yards away. he's seen their power, and while he isn't afraid of them, he is tense and wary when around them.

-alpha-mentality dogs; this male, is a bit of an alpha-male, though not over-the-top, he does however, have an issue with young male dogs trying to be his boss. now, rhadamanthus has no problem with canines that are just doing as they are told, and he has no problem with higher-ranking officials steering his actions, but when another alpha-type dog gets aggressive with other dogs because they won't obey, then the canario will step in and put the other dog in their place, for he sees that as bullying and the dog has no place in his heart for bullies.

-omega-mentality dogs; while rhadamanthus doesn't enjoy dogs that are super dominant, he also doesn't like dogs that are super submissive, he finds them to be absolutely annoying and just in the way. and while the canario isn't quick to lose his temper or his patience, these types of dogs will be quick to make his clear-head take a break. however, when the dogs are young and just figuring out where they stand, he is a bit more lenient on them because they are trying to figure it all out.

-his age being mentioned; when rhadamanthus' age is mentioned by any dog, or human for that matter, the canine is known to start growling, a warning to soon stop or soon regret it. that, along with his few health issues (because of his age), when mentioned, can set the male off like a bomb, and while he rarely loses his temper, one comment on his age and health and he is a completely different canid.

௹strengths௹

-his experience; both as a military dog and as a fighter

-his physical fitness, seeing as the male is in extraordinary shape for his age, he is powerful and strong

-natural athleticism, being a presa, rhadamanthus is a very active dog, able to just about do it all, from running, to swimming, to fighting, to climbing, to herding, he can do it all.

௹weaknesses௹

-health issues; being an older dog, rhadamanthus is dealing with some joint pain due to arthritis, and his hip/elbow dysplasia isn't getting any better, his hearing isn't the best anymore and neither is his sight

-his tendency to blow up when his age and health are talked about

-the fact that because he is older, rhadamanthus doesn't tend to listen to other dogs, especially those younger than him and he tends to anticipate orders and usually ends up doing his own thing.

"'when you get older, your wild life will live for younger days, think of me if ever you're afraid.'"

௹sire௹

-zeus; a large dark brindle male void of any white markings, a very tall male presa, a little heftier than his breed average, height-wise, rhadamanthus and minos were close, but they were still short by one (minos) to two (rhadamanthus) inches; zeus wasn't very involved in the life of his prodigy, seeing as he was a working dog, a general in fact, and had lots of work to do, meaning he couldn't be at his mate's beck and call, which was for the best due to a secret held by europa (will be in her little description), rhadamanthus saw his sire a few times in passing, but they never really had a conversation; deceased

-asterion; a large dark brindle and white male, though he wasn't near as tall as any of his pups, he was much larger, in his prime, he was a giant, and the humans were hoping at least one of his pups would get to that heft, but none did. and while zeus and europa met and became pregnant, the female then met with asterion and contracted his pups as well; asterion was very involved with his pups and their mother, for he had no knowledge of zeus, but because he wasn't a general, he usually had no where else to be and could spend hours with his mate and their pups; deceased

௹dam௹

-europa; a beautiful black and white female, she was about average sized, if not a little larger than most female presas, but she loved her pups and was sure to keep zeus a secret from them so they didn't grow up divided and confused. she was a good mother and raised her pups well, but because they weren't her first litter, she didn't grow too attached in case she never got to see them again. though she wasn't a faithful mate, seeing as she was very upset that zeus wanted nothing to do with his pups, a quality she found in asterion, she sought to cut off her former mate just so he could have a piece of his own medicine. and while it is said that 'cheaters never prosper' for europa it wouldn't seem to be the case and a wonderful family came out of europa, asterion and the pups they raised together; rhadamanthus and his mother were pretty close, seeing as the attentive male knew that he wasn't the same as some of his littermates, but he just didn't know how, but he knew that his mother was true and certain and that she was a constant he could rely upon; deceased

௹siblings௹

~brother(s)~

-minos; a solid black presa canario with dark soulless eyes, the largest of the pups, taking heavily after his true sire, zeus, he was tall and built sturdily. though he was very quiet and only stood to back up his brother, rhadamanthus, the male was a force to be reckoned with, however, he was more of a brute-type and led the leading to the littermates that could lead, and could lead well, like rhadamanthus. the male only lived to be seven when a freak accident involving a gun that didn't have the safety on took his life; rhadamanthus and minos were very close, minos followed the slightly smaller male everywhere, and listened to his every command, even if it meant defying orders given to him straight from the humans or a higher-ranking dog, realizing this, minos was put under his brother's command and the two were practically unstoppable. his death changed rhadamanthus and he no longer had the zeal to go on with life, and many assume that losing his brother and confidant took the biggest toll on his body and mind and has prevented him from prospering even more so as a dog; deceased

-sarpedon; another pup sired by zeus, sarpedon, though a bit lighter than both minos and rhadamanthus, stood a mere half inch shorter than rhadamanthus, when standing up straight, though he usually remained rather slouched. he was a beautiful fawn color with a black muzzle, a true beauty, though he wasn't much like the other pups, while the majority of them were pretty calm, cool and collected, sarpedon was all over the place, jumping off walls, escaping, running laps around literally everything and being a nuisance. but, he was a nuisance that was greatly loved by his family. not much came of the dog, he never had the right, mature mind to become a general, but he had the athleticism to be whatever he wanted so he simply became a scout, running messages back and forth. however, in his age, he now simply oversees the training of newer scouts and lives in basic retirement; sarpedon and rhadamanthus got along pretty well, they weren't near as close as minos and rhadamanthus were, but it would be hard to get that close to the dark brindle. sarpedon was a bit of a 'ladies man' due to his rugged good looks and the manner with which he spoke and while he tried to help out his brothers, he tended to grow bored; alive; not in roleplay

-aeacus; the final male pup truly sired by zeus, aeacus was a dark brindled male presa like his father, and while he was built tall and lean, he was a bit of a light-weight, hardly even getting above one hundred pounds in his prime. and while he was never super skinny, and always had magnificent muscle tone, the male never put on much weight and he struggled with that in the colder months. the male was a general, but only for a short time, due to his extremely short temper, he tended to lash out at most of the dogs and actually maimed a few, so he was swiftly removed from that position. he didn't have much of a job afterwards and he was mostly used for sentry work since he had a rolling bark similar to rhadamanthus', though it lacked the boom and ferocity of his larger brother's; rhadamanthus and aeacus get along quite well, and while they often butted heads and had several differences of opinion, they respected that they were family and treated each other as such. since they were both generals at one point, they did often get in scuffles when aeacus wouldn't listen to rhadamanthus or vice versa, which caused a rift to form between them somewhat and aeacus blames his larger brother for his eventual removal; alive; not in roleplay

-gortys; this male was a larger pup, to say the least, and while he didn't weigh much more than minos and rhadamanthus, he was right up there with them, seeing as he was a son of the heavier asterion. and while the pups didn't know it to be certain, this male, a black and white presa, believed himself to be completely related to the other pups and couldn't seem to understand that he was quite a bit shorter than them, but yet, weighed a lot more. and since all the pups believed asterion to be their true sire, those thoughts weighed harder on minos, rhadamanthus, sarpedon, aeacus and damocrateia, since they seemed to resemble asterion and the pups he sired, the least; gortys and rhadamanthus, since they believed themselves to be family, got along well, per the wishes of their dam, but since they always knew something was a little different, it would seem that the smaller of the two held a grudge to the more handsome and magnificent canine that he was supposedly directly related to, he only became a solider and nothing more because he simply lacked the qualities necessary to be up in the ranks, however he refused to be under the leadership of rhadamanthus, for reasons rhadamanthus doesn't quite understand; alive; not in roleplay

-erythrus; the smallest of the male pups, both in height and weight, though he was still a sizable canine, just more proportionate, this male did have to deal with being the bottom of the totem pole, which caused lasting affects on his personality. the white presa with a black face and small eyes, the other true son of asterion, grew under the 'guidance' of his littermates and thus became a rather meek and quiet individual that surrendered his place as a large dog breed and behaved as if he were no larger than a corgi. while erythrus was easily the smartest of the male pups, he never really got the chance to show off his intellect, the canine became nothing more than a foot soldier and was killed in battle; rhadamanthus was one of the many influences on the smaller canine that shaped him into the dog he became, and while at the time, rhadamanthus had no remorse for making a simple-minded follower out of the mastermind, but now rhadamanthus has some residual guilt and believes himself to be one of the causes of his littermate's death; deceased

~sister(s)~

-aegina; a beautiful female presa colored white with a few black patches over an eye and across her back, and while she never got very big, seeing as she took after europa, it can be seen throughout her figure and in her eyes that she is the true daughter of asterion, and the only other pup he sired. aegina was a wonderful canine, though she didn't have a mind for war and simply became a bearer of pups, not that she minded of course. and though the female could have been trained to do so many other things, she wouldn't have been happy and ultimately that was what was needed. she mothered several good, healthy pups that grew strong and took up places in the ranks, though none seemed to make it to the general mark as they all inherently seemed to possess an unwillingness to take a life, or an insane drive to do so; like with both of his siters, rhadamanthus was extremely protective over aegina and did his darndest to protect her from the plights of the real world. he always had her back and tried to make sure she never had to see had family in a bad light in order to preserve her innocence, he his beyond joyful that she found solace as a mother and doesn't have to worry about being on the front lines. the two often chat from time to time, seeing that now aegina is in retirement and simply acts as a bit of a therapy dog; alive; not in roleplay

-damocrateia; a giant of a female, red fawn in color with dark brindle stripes, and the mischief-maker of the pup pack. she was the instigator of squabbles and due to her rebellious nature, refused to fix any lasting issues. and while she was a sweetheart upon first meeting, it was only around her family that her true colors burned through and held in her the silhouette of a devil. this female grew to be strong and revered, though she never made general status because she simply didn't have the desire, but instead she made it just a rank below, a lieutenant. she served her position well, but due to failing sight and join issues, she was forced to retire, but without a job to keep her focused and motivated, she went downhill quickly and passed on; rhadamanthus was so very protective of this sister as well, and despite her many flaws, he was always there to back her up and protect her, oftentimes getting himself into trouble. however, the love he felt was not a one-way road and damocrateia loved her brother as well, making the two almost as close as rhadamanthus and minos. he was devastated upon news of her death, but knows that she wouldn't wish for him to wallow in self-pity, so he keeps on going despite his grief for both her and minos; deceased

௹past mate/partner௹

-rhadamanthus hasn't had a 'real' mate, just a few flings and a couple of mates that he had been set up with in order to pass his genes, but nothing serious.

௹past pups௹

-rhadamanthus has fathered several litters of pups, and while he hasn't been able to meet any of them because the handlers worry he won't be so kind to the pups. but he typically sees them when they grow up, and if they stay with the military. currently only one serves beneath him and it is his son, thoes, a white brindle male with large, round eyes, very large for his breed, at only five years of age, he is almost bigger than rhadamanthus when he was in his prime.

௹experience being a military dog௹

-rhadamanthus had always been fascinated with growing up to be something more, more than asterion and europa had ever dreamed or become. being an older dog, there weren't as many at the time and he didn't have to work hard and stand out as much in order to make it, instead he simply had to be the best, which he did. the presa trained and trained, he didn't socialize or have many compadres, and instead focused on becoming a big, strong dog. from his young age, he had always been captivated by the humans and the powerful and important dogs that strode at their sides, and he would study them, for hours upon hours, he would study them, learn the commands and learn what was expected of those dogs. he tried to get minos and damocrateia on board with becoming generals, and he succeeded for a while with his sister until she got bored with the constant training. but rhadamanthus wouldn't be so easily deterred and strove to thrive where none of the others could. of course he also had aeacus, who was a general for a short time, and that was ample competition. and even when he was the only presa, he worked hard and continues to work hard to keep his position and be a dog that his prodigy would be proud of.

௹feelings towards their role௹

-rhadamanthus wouldn't trade it for the world, this is his life and damn did he try hard to earn it. and though he only wishes that he could have spent more time with his pups, but he doesn't typically worry about it too much since he knows that he will be a beacon that they will strive to be similar to.

௹extra௹

-rhadamanthus loves karma, though he isn't sure yet if he is in love or if he just sees her as a bit of an apprentice, but either way he wants to be important to her, and he wants to have an influence in her life, romantic or not.

-the male has a few titanium teeth, though they are mostly in the back due to his teeth getting knocked out, broken or just becoming to weak to last through his intensive training.

-this canine is also completely fluent in spanish, his mother thought it necessary to learn the language of his south american ancestors.

"he said, 'one day you'll leave this world behind, so live a life you will remember.' my father told me when I was just a child, these are the nights that never die"

௹aesthetic(s)௹

-all created by the magical, fantastical, wonderful and super duper talented tiviant
