☧detailed appearance☧

-verena is a beautiful canine that takes heavily after her siberian husky heritage, in both height and weight. she weighs close to fifty pounds and stands at twenty-one and a half inches tall, putting her at the large end of the female scale, but it is no surprise due to her canadian eskimo and northern inuit heritage. before becoming a sled dog, this dame was born in the alaskan wilderness, so she was accustomed to life without humans which greatly contributed to her muscle tone and athletic ability, which was naturally apparent. but now with a strict training regime her muscle tone has only doubled in size and makes the sled dog appear like a body-builder, underneath her thick pelt. this canine has triangular shaped ears that sit high up on her head, they are pricked and always appear to make the canid on high alert. she has singular dewclaws on all four of her legs, due to the fact that she didn't have them removed when she was young, and though huskies don't usually have hind dewclaws, her mixed heritage, though small, is enough to cause slight nuances with the female's physique. her body is moderately compact with oval-shaped paws that are tough and strong, able to withstand the harsh ice and snow of the ground she races upon. and though she is a lot of muscle, this female is also rather lean and graceful, her gaits are so smooth and appear to be effortless, almost as if she simply floats across the top of the snow. the dame has longer legs, but not so long that she appears to be out of proportion.

-this husky mix is beautiful in color, and while from a distance the thick-furred sled-dog appears to be black and white with bits of gray where those two colors meet. but upon closer inspection, this canine has bits of light tan on her muzzle, above her eyes and cheeks, which then mingles with the white color on her throat and chest, making it a pale cream color. that cream color can also be found on the back of all four legs and the bottom to tip of her tail. she has the 'traditional' husky markings, with black along her back, back of her neck, head and top half of her face and majority of her tail, then she has white on the inside of her ears, bottom half of her face and down her jaw and throat to her chest and underbelly, the inside of all four legs, the underpart of her tail and the tip of said tail. she has a slight white marking in the form of two white dots above her eyes and and small white mark slightly farther up, but still between her eyes. verena has a thick pelt, a double coat, medium length with the undercoat being a bit softer and fluffier than the outer coat. the outer coat in question is smooth and still soft yet water-resistant and works to keep her body heat against her body.

-verena's eyes are beautiful in color, while some may call the color a pale ice blue, they are closer to being a more robin's egg blue. the outside of the iris could be considered ice-blue, but gets considerable darker the closer to the pupil. her eyes are almond shaped and set perfectly spaced. her expression always remains keen and interested, but rather cold, versus the normal friendliness found in the majority of gazes prevalent in huskies. she never really shows much warmth in her blue hues, but that is because she doesn't want to appear weak in front of her team, for fear of losing their respect. speaking of face, this female's nose is black in color, as are her lips and eye rims, making her blue eyes pop ever the more. her eyes always seem to retain a lustrous sheen even when she isn't feeling one hundred percent, and always seem to shine all the more brightly when faced with competition or around close friends. this female, though still relatively young, has figured out to hide the majority of emotions and prevent them from breaking through and becoming noticeable in her eyes and facial expressions.

-this female's thick pelt hides all but the most severe of scars, of which she has none. only in her youth did the female recklessly charge around in the wilderness, getting caught in all sorts of stick and stones. and while her skin obtained the occasional mark or nick, she never got in so bad an injury that her dense pelt didn't grow over it. so her only scars can be found underneath her pelt on her lower legs, and even then they may be invisible to the naked eye due to them being quite old. however, her left ear has a permanent notch at the top, she isn't certain how she got it, but her mother said it was due to her horsing around with her siblings. outside of that, her musher, and less herself, as been very vigilant and careful about making sure she doesn't get too heavily marked up, seeing as her musher doesn't want verena to have any injury that could prevent her from competing.

☧basic looks☧

-well-muscled black and white female predominantly siberian husky mix with slight tan markings on her face, throat and chest. she has a notched left ear and pale blue eyes.

☧scars/markings☧

-verena has a slight nick in the top of her left ear, and any other scars are rather insignificant and are found underneath the dense fur on her lower legs.

-she has a few white markings on her face, primarily two white dots above each eye and a slight sliver of white above and between those dots.

"but you're always gonna find, you can't lose me"

☧attitude/personality☧

-verena is a very stoic canine, always staid and alert, even through times of physical and emotional stress, pain or hardship. she never complains and rarely makes a fuss or a big deal out of any situation. this female is ready to take on any challenge that comes before her with an ever-lasting expression of coolness, with perhaps a hint of interest if its captivating enough. the canid always remains calm and emotionless even when issues become dire, and will only release this expressionless and closed-off nature when around friends and canines that she holds dear. though that it quite rare, usually she doesn't showcase what she is feeling and rather accepts whatever is handed to her. hence why she is such a good lead dog, the female knows what the best course of action for the team is, and she follows orders from the musher, directly from the musher, without hesitation. and even if her musher appears to be leading her to her doom, though she may appear to hesitate, she will put her head down and do as they command. though her musher needs to have a stern hand, as any loose hold in leadership will have her respect drop lower than a wingless bird flung from a cliff. though she can often ignore her musher, especially if she knows for absolute certain what they are doing will put her team in danger, because they are her number one priority. the only thought that circulates her mind during disaster is 'i must keep my team safe.'

-this canine can be interpreted as cold, seeing as her expression rarely moves on from an expressionless forward gaze, even when in friendly conversation. rarely does this female show affection, and she is very stingy about whom she shows affection to and when she shows said affection. because verena takes things as they are with little emotion and almost no noticeable expression, she can also be perceived as unsympathetic, heartless or unfriendly. and though the husky mix isn't a very forward dog when it comes to making friends and establishing relationships, she is rarely unkind or rude to any canine, at least, not on purpose. and though she is the leader, technically the alpha, she is a no-nonsense type of canine that puts others in their place when they overstep their bounds, but she isn't one to flaunt her position and throw her weight around. one of the reasons for these 'accusations' about this dog is the fact that she is a more head-in-the-clouds type of dog, she is usually lost in thought, in her own little world and often isn't present, emotionally. this dog finds solace when she isn't grounded and can freely be with her thoughts, though she can be easily distracted and dragged into her own thoughts. despite this, the sled dog is a rather watchful creature, she tends to notice things many others would look over, a trait she must possess in order to be a sufficient lead dog.

-verena is a rather quiet creature, rarely being outspoken and loud. she keeps to herself and while she may appear to distance herself from the team, she just has the natural tendencies of a loner. she doesn't talk much, but when she does, her words are not ones to be missed or looked over, as she is rather wise and intelligent and usually has an idea of what she is talking about. as she appears to avoid most, if not all, social interaction, many don't have a clue what this female is truly like, many may see her as a cold, tactful beast, awaiting the the moment to strike down all that oppose her, while some fear her and see the husky mix as a soulless creature of hate that is barely able to hold back her bloodlust, and some see her to be meek and cowardly, a canine afraid to speak up and content to just be a background character. though in reality, the mutt is nothing like those rumors at all. in fact, the dame is calm, cool and collected, she is always able to keep a level head, even when under high amounts of pressure and stress. the dog never has an issue with another unless they challenge her, and even then, it takes quite a bit to force her teeth. and while she is very quiet and likes to be a bit of a shadow, the female isn't shy and isn't cowardly in the least. and while she prefers to avoid confrontation and useless bickering, she isn't afraid to step up and speak up when she feels injustices are being displayed.

-this canine, while reserved and soft-spoken, also has a fierce streak about her. this canine isn't one to mess with, nor should her team be messed with, otherwise she'll become as aggressive as a hungry lioness. she doesn't take bullies well and while she won't be the first to snarl and aggressively flash her teeth at an aggressor, she will get involved and try to solve matters diplomatically. though when speaking doesn't work, she won't back down from a fight if one were to break out. the same goes for her own team, she doesn't tolerate any fighting between her dogs, and she doesn't tolerate and disrespect, especially not towards her. and while she is patient and will gladly speak before attacking, her patience only goes so far, and while she won't be the first to make an aggressing move, she will for certain be on top at the end. she is a leader and must remain as one, even when it gets difficult and dogs are testing her at every turn. the canid believes that she is almost a mother to her team and must remain as a good and well-respected role model, even when its tough. and while verena appears to be a rather solitary and independent female, she is as loyal as they come. she will never give up on her team, nor would she ever turn her back on them. this dog will stand by the side of each and every one of her teammates, and even when she doesn't agree with them, she will make sure that they are not alone. the only time she won't pick sides is when members of her team are fighting amongst each other. and instead will try to see from both perspectives and end the squabble diplomatically. quite honestly, the female doesn't care if none of her teammates don't like her or each other, but come racetime, the better be able to listen and follow directions so that they can get to their destination in one peace.

-when relaxed and not in 'work-mode' or when she isn't caught up in her 'me-time,' verena spends time with her group and her personality starts to shine through. for one, she is a witty canine, and focuses on making jokes off the top of her head that are clever and yet not particularly rude or offensive, mostly just lightly teasing. she has good judgement and knows when not to speak or when to speak. this female is also very gentle and motherly. she likes taking care of her team and she likes being there for them, however, she can be a bit much and often tries to fight their battles for them. even if they don't need her help, and while the husky mix means well, she has a habit of being over-protective of her team. though she is a very gentle canine and wouldn't think of hurting a teammate outside of just putting them in their place, the canid doesn't speak harshly, and even when she is being truthful, she tries not to be blunt and tries to be uplifting. outside of these more 'professional' traits, the dame is a fun-loving dog, she likes playing around with the other dogs, and she likes being part of and feeling like she is part of the team, and not just their leader. she enjoys being part of her dogs' lives and has so much fun hanging out and playing with them. even when she appears to be off and doing her own thing.

-one thing that heavily represents who the female is as a dog, is the fact that she never has too work hard to be kind to any soul. she is always open to talk with another canine and let them into her space, she loves being a helping hand and making sure that her team readily accepts her as their leader. the husky mix treats all creatures with respect and motherly love, as she is always ready to wipe the tears from their eyes and be there for them when the going gets tough, even when it appears that she wants to be alone. verena always makes time for her teammates and never skips any time she can spend with them, she lives to be by their sides as a friend or guardian. and though the sled dog likes to be alone with her thoughts and often doesn't like to be social, when approached by a team member, she never turns them away. this female is genuine, and while she never lies and may sugarcoat the truth, especially if it is rather painful, this trait more defines her as a dog that has no bad intentions and behaves like an open book. she doesn't like to hide things and likes to keep her team in the know, especially if it concerns them. and she wishes for that openness to go both ways.

☧likes☧

-her team; to verena, her team is everything. they are her pups, her family, and she would gladly trade her life for theirs in a heartbeat. she only wants what is best for them, and while her protecting can go a little overboard, she means well. when she left her family, the husky mix gained a new one, and she is determined keep them.

-running; like most sled dogs, verena loves her job, she loves being a lead dog and running with her team. she loves the stretch and pull of her muscles under her pelt and she loves the feeling of her own strength as she passes other teams. the feeling of a cold icy wind through her pelt and the ragged gasps of hot air that leave her maw are heavenly. she is an athlete that for sure and certain.

-cold weather; being a densely pelted dog, verena prefers the cold to the heat, as her pelt is dark in color it soaks up the sun's rays, putting her in danger of overheating. besides, the female also enjoys the snow, she likes inhaling cold air and feeling it sting her lungs. it makes her feel refreshed and alive.

-her musher; though perhaps her musher should be higher upon the list, verena's loyalty and love for her musher falls beneath that of her team simply because she spends more time with her team. she deeply loves her musher of course, and has come to respect them, but the husky mix doesn't feel the same motherly, protectiveness over them that she does for her team.

☧dislikes☧

-mass starts; when racing, verena hates mass starts, its all loud noises and confusion. dogs can wind up getting hurt and teams are so crammed in together that fights can break out and lines can become tangled. and being a dog that prefers quiet, mass starts almost push the ever-so-patient female over the edge.

-being passed; though she may not seem like it, verena is a very competitive canine, and when she knows that her team is working hard and giving her all, to have another team pass by is like a kick to the stomach. and she knows it wouldn't be fair to ask more of her team, especially when they run their hearts out.

-arguments with the team; verena can't stand when her teammates are fighting and arguing with each other. it physically hurts her because she knows that permanent rifts can be created and fighting only harms the team. and while she busies herself with trying to dispel the anger, she doesn't often focus upon herself and making sure she is mentally ready to take on whatever comes next.

-ice; verena hates running across ice, seeing as she knows how dangerous it can be and that plunging into the water beneath it may spell out certain death. she always fears that it will crack and break and suck her team into its depths and she won't be able to save them.

"bet your life, i am here and i will always be"

☧strengths☧

-verena is a strong and powerful dog, and a strong and powerful leader. she can take care of her team and she is always there to keep them unified and on track. because she was a wild dog for the first year of her life, the female knows the wilderness and thus can help navigate and teach her own team about what is safe and what is hazardous.

☧weaknesses☧

-verena often doesn't make time for herself and can often become too protective of her team that she causes more harm than help. and while she means well, it can usually result in her teammate feeling useless because the dame wants to do everything for them.

☧outlook on racing☧

-without racing verena wouldn't have anything. she loves it, its her life. if verena hadn't become a racing sled dog, then she would grow bored as a house pet and could potentially go back to becoming a wild animal without any direction. but because she has racing and she has something to put her mind too, the husky mix is so much happier because now she has a family, and she feels like she makes a difference.

"just a wish away, wherever you go, no matter how far, my love is where you are"

☧backstory☧

-verena was born out in the wild, her mother had been born from a sled team that had crashed during a race and had lost their musher and had to live on their own. her father was a sled dog stud that had found verena's mother while she was in season, and then left her after doing his thing. when she was born, the husky mix had two brothers, frery and dodge and three sisters, richil, sallie and marion. their mother eventually met another male dog, a loner, with an unknown backstory, but they suspect he came along like their mother. but under the two guardians, the pups learned how to survive and live in the wild. however, verena was always curious about her mother's parents and at about a year of age, without really knowing what it meant, she set out to become a sled dog. she stumbled upon her musher's home and after she was chased away and kept returning, the musher decided to try and tame the dog and turn her into a sled dog.
