WEDNESDAY (RAIN)

The shrunken woman walks under the pouring water as her hand holds the umbrella firmly. She just finish some errands and she's on her way home. The rain is not that heavy and not that lightly too- it's enough for her to see and walk under the rain. As usual, the path is filled with pedestrians- it's fewer people than before, probably due to the rain. Since the weather forecast has been quite accurate lately, most people avoid walking and choose public transportations and their own vehicles.

Then why she didn't ask for Hakase's or Subaru's help that obviously make it easier for her to go to a certain place and do her errands? Or why she didn't call a cab so she didn't have to trouble herself to walk under the pouring rain? She refuses to do so, it's not only she doesn't want to trouble both Hakase and Subaru, but she's enjoying herself as she walks under the rain.

The girl shifts her face as she looks up, looking at the droplets of water falling from the sky. It makes her reminiscence certain memories of her past and it's not easily can be erased. She still remembers it perfectly.

"Stupid, are you really waiting for me in this rain. Where's your umbrella? What if you get sick?" a man said as he walks closer to the woman- probably his lover, and shares his umbrella.

"I forgot to bring one. Don't worry, is not a big deal. I am strong-- hachoo!"

"You dumb, don't do that again," the man said as he takes off his jacket and places it around the girl.

"T-thank you," the woman said with a tint of blush appearing on her face.

Haibara stares at the two of them from afar. It does remind her of something. Funny enough, the romance scene in front of her is almost the same as the one she ever experienced. And even funnier that someone like her actually did go through something like that in her life- it is almost unbelievable but she did, with certain someone who is currently hunting for her.

It was a cold evening, and the scientist was just finished her research and stuff she needed to take care of today. The next thing she had to do was to meet a certain guy at the cafe that they already arranged- probably to talk about something while having a cup of coffee.

The cafe was not that far from the place she worked and she could just walk there- it only took her less than 10 minutes and she preferred to use both of her legs to walk there rather than using any vehicles. Besides, she needed to take some fresh air after locking herself in her lab for the day.

She took her stuff and her lab coat off before she left her lab. The woman then found her way to the entrance with her steady pace. As she arrived there her steps paused as her eyes shifted to the sky and watched the pouring water hit the earth. She didn't expect it would be raining today- she didn't bring an umbrella with her. What an unfortunate day for her.

Good thing, the rain wasn't heavy- it was only drizzling and she was sure she could just walk under the rain. She was certain it wouldn't make her fall ill. Besides, she didn't want to be late to meet him- both of them were always on time and she knew the pain to wait for someone especially if it involves an important matter.

Without wasting any moment, the woman proceeded to walk under the drizzle and set her path to the cafe. Clear drops of water hit her and she didn't bother it at all. Her steps kept moving without pause and what she had in mind was to arrive there quickly. As she was halfway to the cafe, the rain abruptly got heavier. Guess it was not her lucky day.

If she kept walking under the heavy rain, it would probably make her soaked. The woman then fasten her pace as she ran under the heavy rain- she didn't care about her appearance anymore, she just wanted to get there quickly. With the heavy rain kept pouring, it successfully made her clothes soaking wet and she regretted her idea just to walk under the drizzle in the first place.

She was almost there when she saw the entrance of the cafe was just meters away. As she was ready to push the door in order to protect her body from the heavy rain, a familiar figure walked in front of the entrance as he was also about to enter the same cafe. The woman quickly stopped her pace and stood right behind that man- good thing she didn't crush him or it would be just another problem for her.

"Are you out of your mind? Where is your umbrella?" said the guy in front of her who turned out to be the man she wanted to meet. The man who was currently holding a black umbrella looked at her straight into her eyes before he shifted his gazes at her clothes which were clearly soaking wet.

"I didn't bring one and I didn't expect it will suddenly be this heavy. Gosh, I am wet" she said as she caught her breath, it was tiring for her to run under the heavy rain. The woman then noticed how wet her clothes is- even her undergarments could be seen through her clothes. Now it is a little bit awkward for her. The man released a soft sigh that she barely could notice.

"Don't be that careless again. Follow me, I'll take you home and we'll talk there. There's no way we're staying in there with you in that state" he said. The woman obeyed as she stood beside him and sheltered herself from the rain. Both of them walked side by side under the black umbrella, to where he placed his car.

"Is it far?" she asked as finally felt the cold breeze as they walked under the rain. The woman moved both of her arms to hug herself- she was shivering and released several sneezes already. She was extremely cold and she was certain she would catch a cold at this rate.

"No, but it will take some time. Hold this" he said as he positioned the umbrella handle to the woman's hand. Without asking why, she took it from his hand. The next thing she knew that a warm heavy coat was placed around her shoulder and a large hat was placed on her head. A heat creep up to her face as soon as she could feel the warmth of his coat and his hat heating her body. Not to mention that she could clearly smell his scent on her- she didn't want to take it off, she wanted it to stay there. Her step paused as she shifted her face to the man beside her- was this even real or she was daydreaming?

The sight of the man without his long, black coat and his usual black hat was right beside her. Indeed, she didn't daydream at all. The woman expressed a small smile- she didn't expect this cold guy can be this warm.

"Thank you, I guess," she said as she still hasn't moved her gaze off him. The silver-haired man didn't even look at her as he then took the umbrella handle back from her hand.

"If you're going to stay there, I'm going to leave you," he said as he continued to walk, leaving her behind. The woman chuckled as she looked at the man from behind. The auburn-haired scientist pulled the long, black, warm coat even tighter as she caught up his pace back.

What a stupid memory she suddenly think of. When she thinks of it, she never sees that man share his belongings with anyone- except her. Her face abruptly heated for no reason. The rain was initially calm gets heavier. Strangely it feels like a deja vu to her.

That moment, under that heavy rain, the coldness and the warmth that she felt, she can perfectly feel it right now. Yet she tries to ignore it as she keeps moving both of her tiny legs to return back and take a rest afterwards. It must be great to have a cup of warm coffee and just lay on the bed under the thick blanket.

As she keeps walking without minding anyone who walks past her, a figure of someone who crossed the road attract her attention. It's a figure of a silver-haired man with a long black coat as well as his usual black hat, holding the familiar umbrella as he calmly crossed the road that was not too far in front of her.

As if she's paralyzed, the shrunken woman is stuck there and she can't find herself to move a single muscle. The man who she secretly observes make his way in her direction. The familiar-looking figure gets closer and closer yet she still stands there, in the same place, without even managing to run or to hide.

Until that moment the man walk past her- didn't even have a single suspicion of the little girl who stop in the middle of the rain which getting heavier as every moment passed.

The shrunken woman then continues her step leaving the place. The woman sighs as she walks and looks at the pouring rain, then she expresses a small smile. She could smell his scent as he walked past her- it does bring her back to the old time when she was wrapped by his scent and warmth.

Guess she will forever prefer rain.
