"Don't lie to me, dipshit," Roberto pressed his foot against Omar's chest.

"F-fine! I'll tell you the truth!" Omar pushed at Roberto's foot and rolled to the side, taking in deep gulps of air.

"I'm waiting," Roberto reminded him.

"It's going to sound crazy," Omar sat up. "I'm not making this up though."

"Just spit it out already!"

"Meeting you really was a coincidence. I came here because of Dani and Jax."

"Why?"

Omar shook his head, "You're going to think I'm nuts. The truth is, I'm part of this online group."

"Don't tell me about your perverted chat rooms!"

"I don't go to perverted chat rooms," Omar tried standing but his knees buckled and he fell back on the ground. He leaned against the wall and sucked in another breath of air. "I'm part of a group called the Dark Dreamers. We talk about the existence of human dream catchers."

"Human what?"

"Human dream catchers. Haven't you ever heard of Asibikaashi?"

"Do I look like some nerd that hangs out in chat rooms about dream catchers?" Roberto had his hands on his hips. "You better start making some sense or I'll drag you to the station."

"Aren't you still suspended?"

"We'll call it a citizen's arrest."

Omar closed his eyes and exhaled slowly, "Asibikaashi is the goddess of dreams. There's a legend that a long time ago one of her dream phantoms attacked a child. When this phantom touched the child, a bit of his powers transferred to the human."

"Are you drunk?" Roberto asked. "This is all making sense now. You're drunk and you're making up stories."

"I'm not drunk! If I'm being honest, it was Asibikaashi that helped me get sober. After joining the Dark Dreamers, I started researching her and her phantoms."

"You're nuts," Roberto muttered.

"No, it's all true. The first human was a boy and because it's a curse to be touched by a dream phantom, he became a human dream catcher. Anyone that he touched would transfer their fears and nightmares so that when he slept, he would see them. Supposedly, he was the only human male with the ability to pass on the curse."

"Nothing you're saying is making sense to me."

Omar groaned in frustration, "Think of it as a gene that only women can inherit. After it was passed from him to his daughter only females could pass the curse on."

"So males can't get the curse?" Roberto asked, secretly chastising himself for even asking.

"According to the dreamers, they can get it but they can't pass it on."

"That doesn't explain why you came looking for us."

"Not us. Dani and Jax. You were a coincidence, remember?"

"Fine," Roberto hissed. "Dani and Jax. What does your stupid dank dreamers have to do with them?"

"Dark Dreamers-"

"Just tell me!"

"A while back ago, one of the members mentioned how a woman she knew was swearing that someone had seen her worst nightmare. She said she had dreams about being caught having an affair with her best friend's husband and that some waitress had called her out on the affair. She said there was no way that the waitress could've known about the affair."

"This really sounds ridiculous," Roberto said, turning away from Omar.

"I know it does but curiosity got the better of me and I asked her to find out who the waitress was. She did and I came here. I didn't move here. Not at first. I'm not some weird stalker or anything."

"Could've fooled me," Roberto mumbled.

"I just came to the diner to watch. I saw the way Dani avoided touching anyone."

Roberto stilled. He had noticed that too. He never mentioned it because he didn't want to be rude, but he had definitely noticed this trait of Dani's on more than one occasion.

"When all that stuff with the Maestro was going on," Omar whispered. "they killed him in her apartment."

Roberto felt the hair on the back of his neck rise, "How did you know that?"

"She even helped you all catch a criminal. It was a man that had murdered a woman for a diamond necklace."

"She did," Roberto said softly, recalling how both he and Jax had thought it was odd. Jax had sworn Eddie Vasquez, the criminal that Dani identified, hadn't shown the necklace from the pockets of his hoodie.

"I know it sounds weird, but there are other things. Things that don't make sense when it involves her. I can't prove it but I know I'm right."

It was as though someone had kicked Roberto in the stomach. He leaned forward, trying to catch his breath.

"If you don't believe me, why don't you ask them."

Jax was at the dinner trying to get some coffee when Roberto slid in the booth across from him. He looked around to make sure no one was listening and whispered, "We tell each other everything, don't we?"

Jax's eyes narrowed, "What's going on?"

"Is there something about Dani that you're not telling me?" Roberto asked.

Jax's eyes widened and he quickly shook his head but no words came out.

Roberto continued, "I'm your partner. You can tell me anything."

Jax gave an uncomfortable laugh, "Why are you asking this all of a sudden?"

"Tell me the truth, Jax. Is Dani a...a human dream catcher?"
