Law felt the increase of magical energy in the area and even though her body was telling her to get away from it, she used it as a beacon to pinpoint the magical energy she recognized as Makarov's. Law grit her teeth as she leaned on a tree and a blue aura surrounded her once more.

'Why am I even trying so hard for that old man? Family? Don't make me laugh. Everyone in this world is the same, they only exist to try to cheat life and make decisions that only benefit them. Everyone is so selfish...including me.' Law thought as she smirked darkly "Shadow the Hedgehog."

Kai roared as he raised his sword and brought it down on Makarov who expertly dodged and thrust his arm forward creating a sphere of light that let out multiple thin beams of light towards Kai. He blocked every single one of them and his blade ignited in flames as he slashed at Makarov.

A flaming slash flew towards Makarov who dodged and placed his palm on the ground, the ground around him exploded and the tiles were sent flying in the air. Makarov thrust his palms forward and the tiles flew towards Kai who swung his blade in an arch and burnt them to ashes.

"Enough with your parlor tricks Makarov, fight me for real!" Kai shouted.

"Your pursuit of power has misguided you Kai." Makarov stated.

"It has not misguided me Makarov! It has only strengthened my resolve!" Kai shouted.

"Your resolve?" Makarov asked.

"My resolve to destroy." Kai replied with a smirk as his blade was set ablaze once more "Dragon brave Dragoblade: Fiery Paradise!"

Kai thrust the sword into the ground and fiery pillars started to erupt around Makarov who tried his best to dodge but his cape unfortunately lit on fir so he had to discard it. Makarov enlarged his arm and summoned three swirling light spheres within the enlarged palm.

"Light Magic: Sun Dancer!" Makarov shouted as he threw the spheres who cut one of the spheres but widened his eyes as it exploded along with the other two.

"Had enough?" Makarov asked.

"Dragon Brave Dragoblade: Flame Dragon Torrent!" Kai shouted from within the dust cloud surrounding.

"What?" Makarov asked with widened eyes.

A large flaming dragon roared as it flew towards Makarov who enlarged both his arms and thrust them forward, creating a light screen as a shield. The shield worked in blocking the hit but it pushed him back hard and he ended up hitting the wall behind him.

"Come now Makarov, is that really all you have?" Kai mocked as Makarov staggered to his feet and slapped his palms together.

"Not in the slightest!" Makarov replied as he separated his palms a light sphere enveloped in yellow flames formed in his hands, he thrust his hand forwards and a yellow magic circle appeared "Luminous Light Art: Sunlight Laser!"

A large beam of light was launched towards Kai who ignited his sword with a larger flame as he shouted "Dragon Brave Dragoblade: Drogon's Breath!"

A powerful plume of flames was launched out of Kai's blade as he thrust it forward and the two powers clashed in a brilliant yellow and red light. They held out in a power struggle that shook the whole hall, Makarov and Kai roared as they added in more magical energy with Makarov winning the struggle as the beam of light burst through Kai's plume of flames and hit Kai directly.

Kai cried out in pain as the wall behind him exploded and the ground beneath his feet became a crater. Kai growled as he glared at Makarov while holding onto his burnt chest in pain.

"You think you've won? Ha! I knew that you would be a tough opponent so I learnt a spell that not even you can overcome!" Kai exclaimed as he slashed his palm with his sword and spoke an incantation causing a black and purple aura to surround and emanate from him.

Makarov widened his eyes in shock "Those words..."

"That's right! The powers of normal magic have failed me but the powers of the book of Zeref will always be by my side!" Kai shouted as his pupils disappeared and his canines grew.

"Kai stop! This power-"

"This power is your reckoning! I can hear it in your voice and you're right to fear me!" Kai shouted as purple and black flames completely surrounded him as he laughed "Black Heart: Dragon's Soul!"

The flames were now completely around Kai's form as a form of armor, he roared as his sword ignited with purple flames. He sent multiple slashes towards Makarov and flames erupted from each one of them as Makarov tried the same move of enlarging his arms and blocking with a light screen.

He grits his teeth as the barraged ended and once his arms shrunk, he saw the bleeding cuts that now adorned them. Makarov widened his eyes as Kai disappeared from view and suddenly stood in front of him with a smirk, he kicked Makarov to the side and launched a torrent of flames towards Makarov.

He was hit by the flames and yelled out in pain and into a wall as Kai laughed "Now do you see the difference between us? Compared to me, you are nothing!"

"N-no..." Makarov muttered as he stumbled out of the wall.

"No? Are you suffering so much physical trauma that you deny the obvious?" Kai asked.

"Kai, obtaining power from the darkest depths shows that you have nothing! Sacrificing who you are for power is pathetic." Makarov stated with a determined glare "Compared to me, you are nothing!"

Kai growled "I'm done playing with my food, get ready to die."

"Don't count on it." Makarov replied as he summoned a flaming light sphere in his hands.

"Black Heart Drago Brave Dragoblade: Drogon's Rage!" Kai shouted as his blade was completely shrouded by purple and black flames.

'This will be a large attack, I won't be able to dodge it and overpowering it is out of the question...I just have to hope on him making a mistake and rely the power of those I hold dear...I beseech your help...Fairy Tail...' Makarov stated to himself as the flames around the sphere grew larger and started to change into multiple colors "Luminous Light Art: Rainbow Brilliant Luminosity!"

Kai launched his torrent of flames and Makarov fired a bright rainbow beam and the two powers clashed into a power struggle as the building itself started to collapse and get torn apart. Makarov grits his teeth as he slid back and the flames grew larger, overtaking his beams and reaching closer to him.

"Die Makarov Dreyar!" Kai shouted with a laugh.

Suddenly the doors burst open and a red blur went past Makarov and right through the Flaming Emperor's guild master. Kai widened his eyes as he looked back to see Shadow, still in bad shape, kneeling on the ground while holding his sword in front of him.

Kai spit out a large amount of blood as his chest area had been exposed and slashed with the flaming armor parted away from that area.

"Now Makarov-ya!" Shadow shouted.

Makarov grinned with determined eyes as he roared and added almost all of his magical energy into the beam. It shot through the flames and directly hit Kai in his now open weak spot, he screamed in pain as the beam shone brightly and exploded in a rainbow light.

Once the dust had settled, Kai was on the ground with whited out eyes and an open jaw with a deep and steaming scar covering his entire chest. He was alive but barely as Makarov walked up to him and sighed.

"You had so much potential Kai...I'm sorry I couldn't let you reach it the way it was best for you." Makarov stated.

Makarov heard heaving and heavy breathing widened his eyes to see Shadow transform back into Law while turning to look at him and she looked completely exhausted with bags under her eyes, sweat all over her body and a bloody nose.

"Law?" Makarov asked worriedly as Law shut her eyes and fell to the ground "Law!"
